  1. @ Brazam - I'm in Central NSW. I'm buying from Clancy Automotive in Dubbo, however I got the best quote from McAlister Ford in Young. Clancy matched McAlister and I decided to go with them simply because they are closer for servicing etc. By the way, mine isn't the Limited Edition model, Ford is also running a separate promo on the Luxury Pack. I didn't need the rollbar as I would have had to take it off to fit the canopy anyway. @Shyfrd - I'll let you know how the reverse camera goes in a couple of weeks when I pick up the ute.
  2. The canopy was about $4000, I think. I looked at a few different makes and did a bit of research on here and other forums and although at the higher end of the price range, the Carryboy seems to get the most thumbs up. The standard roof rails are also a plus for me.
  3. I did pretty well, just over $41k drive away for everything listed below, which I posted in another thread a while ago. Was originally $40k but I decided not to trade in my wife's old Kia (worth more to sell on the roadside) and driveaway price now includes my $440 personalised FPV plates. Vehicle: 2011 Ford FG Falcon XR6 Turbo Styleside Box Utility Colour: Viper Transmission: 6 speed auto Optional Pack: XR Luxury Pack incl. 19” alloys Leather trim seats Premium audio with colour screen Dual zone climate control Premium sports interior Extras: Bonnet protector Headlamp guards Slimline weathershields Front mudspats Wheel lock nuts XR carpet mats Dash mat XR scuff plates Cabin tidy Pollen filter Fire extinguisher Perimeter alarm Go Technologies reversing camera Canopy: Carryboy S560 series (sliding window model) http://www.carryboy....g_ba_falcon.php
  4. I was told by a dealer that it's basically the same deal as the current standard Ltd Edition - 18" alloys, leather, premium sound and sportsbar, just in the turbo model. He also said that they are doing a free luxury pack deal in August as well, which is the option I've gone for in my new ute I pick up next month.
  5. Like I said, I'm out in the sticks. An hour and a half to the nearest Big Mac
  6. Nah, I'm an old fart and I'll be keeping it pretty much stock. The reason I got the canopy was to set it up as a mini-camper with mattress and custom storage in the tub, so I can just load it up and take off on weekends. My wife reckons it's a mid-life crisis and I'm just trying to relive my Sandman shaggin-wagon days ... maybe she's right I'd suggest contacting a few different dealers and compare. With both the Turbo Ltd Edition Ute and Free Luxury Pack deals coming out next month, now's really the time to buy and it seem some dealers are really willing to drop their daks. For what it's worth, the dealer who did me that great deal is Clancy Ford in Dubbo. Big thumbs up to them
  7. Yep, got everything listed and they even threw in a set of number plate protectors for my personalised plates.
  8. Yeah, I'm glad I did it. I felt like a bit of a goose I suppose, but if I'd just accepted the first quote from the local dealer without looking around I'd be 10 grand poorer right now.
  9. Well, I ended up getting a driveaway deal with all the bells and whistles mentioned for $40k. I'm pretty happy with that.
  10. Funny thing is, I went to my nearest dealer (about 160km away as I'm out in the sticks) and went through the process of test driving and the usual wheeling and dealing and the best they could come up with was just on $50k. I thought at the time there must be a better deal out there, possibly with the city dealers as competition's tougher, but of the 3 quotes around $45k two were on the coast and the third, surprisingly, was another country dealer only another 200km or so from the one I first went to. So I'll probably stick with that one as he put his best foot forward first time around.
  11. G'day. I'm just about to take the plunge and buy myself a new FG Turbo ute. I thought I'd do a bit of research so I got hold of as many Ford dealers email addresses as I could (I think close to 100) and sent out a blind email with my specs to all of them. As expected, a lot didn't reply, but I have had maybe 20 responses and I have been amazed at the variation in price - drive away from $45,000 min to $60,000 max. Obviously I'm looking at 3 dealers who came in around the $45k mark, but does this sound like a reasonable price for what I'm after? This is the list of specs I sent them - Vehicle: 2011 Ford FG Falcon XR6 Turbo Styleside Box Utility Colour: Viper Transmission: 6 speed auto Optional Pack: XR Luxury Pack incl. 19” alloys Leather trim seats Premium audio with colour screen Dual zone climate control Premium sports interior Extras: Bonnet protector Headlamp guards Slimline weathershields Front mudspats Wheel lock nuts XR carpet mats Dash mat XR scuff plates Cabin tidy Pollen filter Fire extinguisher Perimeter alarm Go Technologies reversing camera Canopy: Carryboy S560 series (sliding window model) http://www.carryboy.com.au/ford_fg_ba_falcon.php I also found out during my enquiries that a Limited Edition Turbo model will be out next month (like the current non-turbo Ltd Ed, with sports bar, 18" alloys and leather) as well as a separate deal on the turbo ute with full luxury pack, which I'm thinking about holding off for. But just curious to find out from those in the know, is $45k a reasonable price for the above specs?

Another one sent here by Google. I've been thinking about buying an XR6T ute since late last year, only now starting to get serious and looking into options etc. Hope to be on the road in my new ute by September.
  13. Depends on the insurer but in my day job as an insurance broker, I've carried over UK driving histories in order to give my clients a full no claim bonus from the word go. Usually the excess for being licensed in Australia less than two years still applies, but at least the premiums are reasonable.
