    Gt "panther"

So if Panther GT gets 9 inch rear rims instead of the standard 8 inch rims does this mean legally in Victoria I can put 10 inch rims on my 2010 FG XR6T? From the link below - The width of any replacement rim must not be - more than 25mm greater than the widest wheel specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that model or vehicle series. Would Vicroads just say my car is a not a FPV and say this mod is illegal? http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rdonlyres/CC48FC10-4D57-4F04-82E1-3BD72EF88340/0/VSI8.pdf
  3. Just bought my lotto ticket.....
  4. I've got an FG and when I took it to Sandown did a few laps with the traction control/DSC on then I turned it off drove exactly how I was driving the last few laps, hit turn 1 and it spun around so I was facing the wrong way. I would say the DSC was definatley turned off. Turned it back on for the next lap, hit turn 1 again going way too fast and hard into the corner, I could see the DSC light flashing furiously and the car took the corner nicely and didnt spin. Just goes to show how well the DSC actually works.
  5. Hopefully those issues at Ford at the moment dont cause the date to blow out.
  6. I also have an FG (30,000K) and my rear pads were worn out on the inner top side almost to the metal but the outer pad had heaps of meat on it. Seems like the caliper doesnt apply very even pressure on the pads.
  7. A bro that's fully sic, we can take it for a cruise down to the fish n chups shop.
  8. Panda, You have got me thinking after your post, I never actually saw them doing the service so I am just assuming that they did put in the correct oil, checked the manifold bolts etc. Being Ford and they do the same cars day after day you would hope they know what they are doing! My friend knows a few of the service guys and told them I was coming down so hopefully they did everything correctly. Maybe getting a onsite mechanic is a better option at least you can watch them the whole time to make sure they are not stuffing it up.
  9. I also didnt want to pay $360 for the ford service so I got Lu*e Mobile to come out to my work. I thought this was a good idea as I didnt need to drop the car off anywhere. He really didnt check over things very throughly, didnt take off the wheels to check the brakes etc. Then he tried to put the wrong oil in the car as he didnt have correct one in this van, after I had a argument with him he went and bought the right oil. Took mine to ford for the 30,000 service. Yes the ford service is expensive but at least they check everything properly, put the right oil in, check codes and re-tension the manifold bolts.
  10. Less power and torque but it has 353nm from 2000rpm. Might not be too bad after all. I guess a you would have to take it for a tes drive to compare.
  11. From another website- The Falcon becomes the first rear-wheel-drive vehicle in the world to be equipped with an EcoBoost engine. It scores a unique tune, producing 179kW of power (at 5500rpm) and 353Nm of torque (at 2000rpm). The EcoBoost is half the size of the standard 4.0-litre six-cylinder engine, yet trails it by just 16kW and 38Nm. The I6 engine produces 195kW (at 6000rpm) and 391Nm (at 3250rpm). Our Falcon EcoBoost prototype test drive late last year demonstrated the four-cylinder models were less than two tenths of a second slower than the I6 models (7.22 seconds vs 7.05 seconds). Intriguingly, the Falcon XT is the only model to return the 8.1L/100km economy figure, with the G6 and G6E models officially rated at 8.5L/100km. Ford Australia says this is due to the weight differences between the specification levels.
  12. 800Hp = 588Kw. Post some pics up of the car as well.
  13. Just noticed the KPM thread in the sponsor section in regards to there Street Fighter Airbox and it fits up with no modifications. They are selling it for $595 but I priced it from ford last year for $350, not sure why its so expensive from KPM.
  14. Well there you go, nearly a year since I first posted this topic and yes it does fit. I'm surprised it clears the top radiator hose. I wonder what mods if any they had to make to the intake to get it to fit.
  15. Its probably the traction control going off. As it pretty new its probably still got the crappy dunlops which always loose traction between 1-2nd.
  16. Maybe a widebody kit like this Challenger..........then jam in some 335 tyres. Should get some nice traction then.
  17. Looks very professional, good work.
  18. I had a Ba Xt before I bought my Fg XR6T. I can agree with you that the car feels like it flies when you first get it but give it about 2 months and it wont feel so fast. That's when you will start to think about your first round of mods.
  19. Ripping it up at Sandown last year............before I had to tow it home.
  20. I just thought I would write up a quick guide on purchasing tyres from Tirerack.com in the states. You need to get a quote for the cost of the tyres and shipping first. Email tirerack the following information – Full name Full address Telephone number Tyres you require If you don’t supply all the information in full they won’t give you a quote. The cost of shipping is obviously going to differ depending on your location, tyre size and number of tyres. For example I got quoted $280 to ship 2 x 245/35/19 and 2 x 215/45/18 to Clayton in Victoria. I also asked what the shipping was for just the 2 x 19inch tyres and it was the same cost of $280. There is a $1000 limit on the cost of goods before you may get charged 10% GST. The $1000 is calculated in $AUD on the cost of the tyres and does NOT include any shipping charges. If your tyres are over $1000 you might be hit with GST and customs duty – for example – Tyres cost $1200 Customs duty is 5% of the value of the tyres – 5% of 1200 = $60 Shipping cost is $150 The value of the taxable importation is – Cost of tyres ($1200) + customs duty ($60) + the shipping ($150) = $1410 The GST is then worked out on this value of $1410 at 10% (=$141) so the total payable would be GST of $141 + the customs duty of $60 = total of $201 There are some other members on this forum whose orders were over $1000 but did not get charged the GST, might be a bit hit and miss if you get charged. Once your happy with the quote email them back saying you would like to go ahead with the order. They will then send you their bank details. You can only pay via an international money transfer to their bank account. You may need to change your settings with your bank to allow you to transfer money to an overseas bank. There will be an international transfer fee of between $20 - $30. Also banks stiff you on the exchange rate as well… if the rate is say 1.07cents you will normally only get a rate of around 1.03 for the transfer. Once you transfer the money and tirerack receives it they will send you a confirmation email and you will need to confirm the details and the items will then be shipped via Fedex. You get a tracking number so you can see the progress of your order. It took 7 days for my order to arrive. Hopefully this will help anyone considering purchasing tyres from tirerack.com. As the aussie dollar is so high at the moment you can get some good tyres at a cheap price. I got some Michelin Pilot super sports which ended up costing me $370 fitted but my local tyre place wanted over $650 fitted.
  21. Check out tirerack in the usa....http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Goodyear&tireModel=Eagle+F1+Asymmetric+2&sidewall=Blackwall&partnum=435YR9F1A2XL&tab=Sizes $235 US dollars. I just got some Michelins from Tirerack and the shipping was $280 to Clayton VIC, so I would say it should be around the same. Should end up costing about $320 fitted. In sure any local tyre shop these tyres will be $450.
  22. Ended up ordering some of these pilot super sports for my stock FG in a 245/35/19 from Tirerack, ended up costing me $365 a tyre fitted. A good price considering my local tyre place wanted $675 fitted!! Only had them on for a couple of days but what a difference compared to the standard Dunlops.....I can actually now accelarate in first gear without getting any wheel spin, with the dunlops at about 4000 - 45000 rpm it would just let go. Even when the Super sports are cold they still have fantastic grip. The dunlops when cold are absolutely useless.
  23. Nelsonian101 have you got the tyres on yet?? If so please give us a review....
  24. I think it might be a HYUNDAI TIBURON.
