    Turbo

I got one that needs new bearings, someone can have it cheap if they want. Stock BA / aka f6 size turbo.
  3. Ok so an update. Can confirm the response is amazing! 1st gear no longer feels so long, traction being an issue now =P Also, for some reason. Maybe the old turbo was F**D but fuel economy seems better? However! defiantly can tell its a smaller turbo. High RPM it seems a little dull. could use some more boooooost But for the kind of driving I do, mostly highway ks. with the occasional thrashing. It seems good =) Will be tuning it soon with cold air intake, catback, hi-flow cat, 42lb injectors. Will let you know how it goes.
  4. Will be very happy with that, I hear the FG runs 10psi to achieve its 245fkw, so if I can make 270rwkw with 10psi ill be over the moon =) I assume the FG runs lower compression ratio though to compensate for the uped boost. I have SS intake and catback exhaust.
  5. Yea that is my main concern, the low down torque. Will be interested to see how it performs on the dyno. Any guess's what boost will be needed to crack 270kw (the aim) Photo for comparison
  6. F series I assume. All I had to do what rotate the exhaust housing to match the oil/water lines. Everything went according to plan and is nearly done, New oil and off to the dyno.
  7. Ok so there has been talk about putting a xr6 FG turbo on a Ba. Well I'm doing it, WHY you ask? Cause I got it cheap and never had intention of running over 300kw anyway. And with the better response it will provide, How could you hate that? Turbos: Both have 1.06 rear and .50 a/r housings. Only difference being the smaller compressor wheel on the FG. The orientation of the housings is also different (needs to be rotated) both exhaust side and compressor side. Also FG turbo runs higher boost from factory, so I swapped Actuators just to be safe, However when I think about it, I think this was unnecessary as boost is probably regulated by the boost solenoid anyway. Will supply photos and updates soon.
  8. I found it so much easier to take the whole manifold off, that way no need to wrestle these bastard nuts, Also wastegate can stay where it is. Assemble new turbo to manifold while its on the bench. made for easy work =) Just thought id share.
  9. Ok, Today I purchased a Xcal3 from Mat from Bullet performance racing (bpr) He walked me through the whole tuning process (even while on his lunch break) and in between doing a custom tune. hes a busy man. He answered all my questions and even found answers to the ones he wasn't sure about, great customer service. As for the tune it self. Could not be happier. Was actually too scared to put the foot to the floor for a while (this has worn off now and I cant stop doing it) Overall Very honest guy, great bloke, Competitive prices. two fryed tryes say you cant go wrong. Thanks Mat
  10. Thanks mate, very helpful. For anyone else new to these cars, I found this interesting.
  11. I have called them, very helpful and professional company. I will be using them to tune my xr6t very soon. Ill keep you posted.
  12. Hey guys, New to the forum just got a a few quick questions. Iv been searching but cant find the answer. My car is bone stock at the moment so this is no issue on my car, But just wondering what signs are seen with valve springs failing. I understand they get soft but how is this detected? Also what are the consequences of failing spring? what damage can occur to the engine? One last question. What is the average cost of installation on my BA? Thanks guys. Luke
