  1. Sorry guys, been busy and not had a chance to check in lately. I'll try and get around to ringing the dealer before the end of the week.
  2. Please don't tar all dealers with the same "every" brush. Mine didn't try this one.
  3. Just confirming that my Shh Shh option is gone. Every time I've parked in the underground carpark at work, I've heard it. Today.... it wasn't there, some 2 weeks after it was 'fixed' for the 2nd time. I can ask the dealer for specifics, if anyone wants.
  4. It has been fixed on mine. Took 2 goes, but last time thru the carpark at the office, no 'Shhh, shhh' noise. Will be parking there again tomorrow, so will eagerly listen again. Sorry, don't know what the fix was, other than "lubricate and adjust".
  5. Abso-&%&)$ing-lutely. After having to price up the SP9000's on the previous car and going for something a bit cheaper, the 18's weren't even an option on this car!
  6. Shortly after I had the new code flashed at the last service, I was getting 13l/100km around the city which freaked me out. I then drove 600km 2 days later and got down as low as 9.9l/100km, but it averaged out at 10l/100km for the entire trip. Since I've got back, it's gone back up to the normal 18 or 19l/100km. It will be very interesting to see what I get on my next 600km trip in a couple of weeks Lightning.....
  7. I can confirm this for my AUII XR6. The additive was done, the oil was done. Still clunked under much the same circumstances as it does now, but not as bad. All in all, my 'clunk' isn't as bad as it sounds others are, but it still detracts from what would otherwise be a nearly perfect beast.
  8. Don't tempt me!
  9. I had what I believe to be diff clunk on my previous car, an AUII XR6. I was unable to get it repaired. The dealer opened a PACE case on it with Ford, but we got nowhere. I have the problem a little in my manual XR6, but I don't know whether I am making allowances due to the previous ride or not. There are occasions when you get a 'jerk' and a couple of thumps, typically when slowing down or taking your foot of the accellerator. I also find myself on the clutch a lot earlier than normal in 1st, purely as this stops this problem at stop signs, lights etc. Is this what you guys are referring to?
  10. I got s survey from Ford the other day, I put in the "Other Comments" area that the brake squeal on Premium brakes should have been fixed by Ford ages ago. It's getting my goat too. Yes, a quick spray with a high pressure of the hose fixes it for a while, but it soon comes back. It's damned embarressing.
  11. I got headlight covers for my AUII XR6, if I had the opportunity to do it again, I wouldn't. IMO, not worth the hassle.
  12. Give it a day or two. Mine was the same after getting some fixes done, went away the next day.
  13. According to the billboards in Sydney, 78 in a 60 is $210 over here. I'm happy to believe it is in Sydney, but I'm in Perth. Definately $100 and 1 demerit point.
  14. I got done for 78 in a 60 zone a few weekends ago, mea culpa - entirely my error. First ticket I've had in years (4 or so, so that pissed me off moreso than the $100). Anyway, almost the first thing the Snr Conny said to me when he walked up was "bet you have a hard time keeping this under the limit, huh?" We had a bit of a chat, but I still got the ticket....
  15. I got a verbal quote of "About $198.00" from Titan Ford in Perth. Will ring a couple of other dealers before I get it done.
  16. Hmmm, seems that not too many took this in, huh? "Never happen to me syndrome".
  17. Hmmmm, a bit of a worry. I think I'll book it in for next week. We'll see how it goes.
  18. No-one else has driven mine (other than service guys). My insurance won't let anyone else other than registered drivers drive it. They have to be 30+, 60% NCB and no accidents for x years (3, I think). There is 1 person who I may let drive it, but after what I hear she did in a BMW recently (forgetting to shift up in a manual when taking off quick at the lights), maybe not Lightning....
  19. Fordtech, Any updates on this? I was trying to wait for my first service, but this is starting to piss me off. Do you reckon I should wait for another 3000k, or should I just suffer the inconvenience and get it looked at now?
  20. This occured to me, a few weeks ago, when I was about to turn a corner at a traffic light controlled intersection. About a 3rd of the way into the turn, I suddenly lost power steering and had to turn the wheel hard to successfully negotiate the turn. After I recovered from that, I realised (within a second or so) that it had stalled. This was a hot and humid Perth evening, probably in the mid 30's. Cheers, Lightning....
  21. Well, this is interesting. I thought it was my imagination, I'd noticed the steering creaking and groaning for a couple of weeks now, especially when reversing into parking bays etc. JUst done 10,000 km's. Hmmmm....
  22. Okay, I'm interested too, but would like to see fitted photo's too. Not definate, just interested :-) Simon....
  23. Jeez, all I can say is there's a damned big variation! 40+, 60%NCB, nominated drivers, $57,900, $150 excess - $992 (HBF) Simon....
  24. Brendan, Trust me, you won't get rid of the red Pilbara dust Don't even bother trying. Simon....
  25. ... and I'll be back in the Pilbara (after a 2 year absence) next week too! Hehe, a different week though. Looking forward to it, will have a new digital camera and can't wait. Work's funding it too.... Simon....
