  1. Dispute it. I did (when they added an injector clean that I didn't get asked to approve) and without as much as a wimper, they reduced it to the $190 I was quoted verbally.
  2. Congratulations on getting this fixed and well done for rewarding the guys, sounds like they went above and beyond! Lightning....
  3. Argh! Got a bad scratch on the windscreen today and want to know how to get it out, for details, click here
  4. Coming home tonight, there was a window washer guy at an intersection. Seen him there often, not many people get him to clean their windows. I called hiom over and gave him $2 for at least making an effort. He said "Thanks mate, will do your windows anyway". I let him. Big mistake. I now have an arc of a scratch going from the bottom left of the windscreen, up to the top. At first I thought it was from sand under a wiper, but it doesn't match a wiper arc. It does, however, match an arm arc from the right of the car, which is where he was. B L * * D Y H E L L, what have I done to deserve this???? How do I get it fixed? Is it doable? Or do I need a replacement windscreen? ARGH!!! It's a fine scratch, not deep, but I can't live with it there. Now, it may not have been him, but I think I would have noticed before now and the scenario fits. Makes me want to go back and ram his windscreen scraper up his.... Lightning....
  5. Thanks Ken, appreciated. (Me Thinks: That was far better than the lamington treatment I was expecting)
  6. Spoke to the claims guy who authorised the claim today. RAC says that she's covered by them and she hasn't returned HBF's calls or letter, as yet. So, looks like she may have been fibbing, or I guess she may have been mistaken. He stated that the damage was consistent with my account of the incident and that the police may charge her with negligent driving as part of the due process. I suggested that he look at www.whitepages.com.au if he wanted a home phone number as it took me 5 seconds to find her. So, claiming off her insurance company is closed, at this stage. I am going to go ahead and rely on friends or hire a car for the odd weekend. The panel shop says that they may be able to do it slightly less than 4 weeks, but it is a big job and they don't want to rush it, which is fair enough. He outlined the work required and it sure sounded like a lot. Lightning....
  7. Point taken, Cro.
  8. Yup, thanks, I will ring the guy that gave me his card and discuss tomorrow. I did ask the question today, but was told by the 'recptionist' "No". If that's the case, I will ring HBF and ask for their list of repairers. I don't believe in a free lunch, but geez, 4 weeks is a long time.
  9. Guys, to be serious for a second, I need some advice. I got a call today from the Panel shop to advise that HBF had authorised the repairs with very little adjustment (just a slight reduction in hours), which is a GOOD thing, but then came the rub... They want the car for approx 19 working days. That's 4 b y weeks! I'm a single guy, with only 1 car (doh). What the hell am I going to do without independant transport for 4 weeks???? Friends will only tolerate so much. Now, I know people survive in a similar boat, but it doesn't seem 'fair' to me. My insurance only covers a hire car in the event of theft, not in these circumstances. I've been told that I could try claiming off her insurance company. Has anyone had success with this? Otherwise, I guess I am going to be a victim of Perth's great public transport system Lightning....
  10. Ummm, is this optional?
  11. I wish I was more composed to say something like that. Anyway, it makes me feel better (in a weird way) that I'm not alone. Thanks all.
  12. Cro, I don't normally look at the Chit-Chat forum (time), but I have just read your thread about the demise of Gadan. What can I say? ... Anyway, glad that you're okay (relatively) and appreciate your comments even more. Lightning...
  13. Exactly, Mr X! I still have the wheels at the moment, just waiting for the insurance company to give the go-ahead and then the parts to arrive. Then it's public transport and friends for me. Hope it's not the 2 weeks the guy mentioned! Lightning....
  14. I know I have enough bulge. Moreso when I sit down
  15. Haha! ROFL. Nice one.
  16. Sorry guys, I won't be putting a bulge bonnet on. I have a n aversion against false advertising
  17. When I pulled over to where you see my car and got out and said "What the *bleep* do you think you were doing" at rather a loud volume, all she said was "But I indicated". Said it several times. I suspect she had no damned idea I was there. But, as you say, still can't fathom why the hell she didn't go back from hence she came when a) she heard the rather loud horn b) when she heard the brakes lock c) when we hit 'corners' d) when she bounced off the front door or e) when she bounced off the rear door I rang the insurance company later to advise that I had photo's. They said "Don't bother, she failed to give way to the right. Open and shut and the damage to your car will bear that out. We'll call you if we need them." Cool. Lightning....
  18. Thanks. The panel place I went to certainly gave me good vibes. An SS was parked out the front with similar damage, I had a quick chat with the guy as I went in, comparing notes. His comment of "At least you've come to the right place" got things off to a good start. When I asked the panel dude doing the quote how my insurer was, he said that they were the best they dealt with and rarely had any issues. From memory They will be replacing the bumper, the bonnet, the front panel, the front door skin, the rear door skin and the rear panel. They'll also fix scuff's on both wheels and check the tires plus an alignment. No mechanical damage evident. Thanks goodness. Drives okay, but 'rubs' or hits something over speedbumps. My 1200km trip to Kalgoorlie tomorrow is, unfortunately, off. Lightning....
  19. Love the avatar, the problem is, she turned in front of me, across my front As for the respray suggestion, made me laugh, but I like Club HgAg. Though, if I was buying a new one, I'd get the new green one. Oh, BTW: I got my _FIRST_ scratch (that I didn't cause by scraping the bottom of the bumper skirt) last week. Guess where? On left of the now to be replaced bumper. Also, the LHR mag has scuff marks, from her van and <ahem> a meeting I had with a kerb about 8 months ago. Bonus.
  20. To cut a long story short: Van in left lane, me in right lane, me level with rear of van, van driver decides to either turn right at next corner or change lanes for no reason.... right across my front. ABS probably means it wasn't at a higher speed. I have confidence in both the insurer and the panel place they sent me to.
  21. and: More photo's and the story at: My Car Accident I will STRONGLY resist commenting about blondes and women drivers in general. Lightning....
  22. Thanks FordTech, will ring the dealer tomorrow. Don't understand why people would WANT them squealing. Sheez....
  23. How 'old' is your car? If it's weeks old, I can't believe this is still happening. My car is a Feb 2003 build. It has nearly done 30000km's. Geea. :banghead: Interesting. Mine was a May 2003 build. I had exactly the same thing happen to me about a week after I picked it, but I was doing 110 km/h (coff) and it scared me so much I myself. The Driver Assist guys didn't pick it, it ended going back to the dealer after it happened 2 or 3 times (not as bad, but headlights swapping roles with indicators, warning indicators etc). Maybe yours was marginal and has just come loose. Apparently the dealer had a "few more like that". Lightning....
  24. How 'old' is your car? If it's weeks old, I can't believe this is still happening.
  25. You and me both. I thought the previous beast was bad! Wish I could bottle it and then find a market for it....
