  1. West Perth Panel and Paint, in Cleaver Street, West Perth / Northbridge. Am more than happy to recommend them, they did and excellent job and their communication was 1st rate too. Lightning....
  2. Sorry to hear that, Ian. I know your pain. Sounds like it will be a little cheaper than mine (unless the roo scraped down the WHOLE side of the car). Good luck with getting the repairs done and hope you aren't too inconvenienced while it's being done. Lightning....
  3. From the Australian Red Cross website: "Thanks to your generosity, Australian Red Cross has so far raised more than $14 million in pledges for those affected by the devastating Asian earthquake and subsequent tsunamis." Lightning....
  4. SWMBO, thanks for that great news. I suspect we now have a humungous organisational nightmare on the way... Lightning....
  5. Thanks. We'll see how long that site lasts. Lightning....
  6. The guys blog was apparently pulled by Apple due to bandwidth usage: http://jlgolson.blogspot.com/ The link that Myagi posts appears to contain the same footage, plus others I found. Ken, which one shows the interior of the restauraunt? I don't particularly want to download them all again. It's NOT waveofdestruction.org-patong_beach.wmv
  7. Agreed, I think that's the thing that's so shocking about this clip, you see the actual effect of the slow rise. All the media clips I've seen to date just show a small 'wave' breaching the shore and then great expanses of flooded areas. This clip actually shows the destruction and the power of the water. Anyone who's seen NW tides rushing in or out would know what I mean. Yes, agreed. So sad. An amazing thing to see is to go to amazon.com and watch the online donations going up by the second. I think that people are beginning to realise how serious this is. You can also donate via: http://www.redcross.org.au/ourservices_aro...akeTsunamis.htm Lightning....
  8. Well said. Thanks. Lightning....
  9. This would have to be the most amazing video that I have EVER seen: http://homepage.mac.com/jlgolson/tsunami.wmv (WARNING: 11.7MB) I am still shaking my head at this. If you want some context of how horrific this was, download this video. Finally for me, it shows the POWER of the water and why there was so much damage and loss of life. Newspaper and TV images just don't convey it as this video does. Amazing.... I am almost lost for words. Sorry, the word amazing seems so shallow, but I am truly gobsmacked at this. Lightning....
  10. Hi there. Yes, it's all fixed now. It's actually better than it was before (previously scuffed alloys fixed). The photo to the left of this post is of the repaired panels, there's only 1 giveaway point (a very minor paint 'dribble') but I can find it because I know every inch of this car Lightning..... PS: It ended up being $8500.
  11. Hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs here, but the turbo is water cooled, so the water circulates through the turbo the lovely laws of convection (from memory), so this is perfectly normal. Lightning....
  12. Guys and girls, I pay my XR insurance quarterly ('cos I can't budget for ), but last month when I went in to pay, I was assured it wasn't due until January as there had been a double payment. The lady took great pains to assure me that I was covered until then. Imagine my shock when I get a letter in the mail today telling me that my policy had expired due to 'non-payment'. It turns out that the office was wrong and that I was indeed "at fault" for not paying when it was due. So, I have just spent the last 20 minutes renewing the thing and carrying over the details. I expressed my dismay at the circumstances that may have occured if: - I'd had an accident or the vehicle was stolen in the last month - I didn't receive the letter I got today and something happened before January ... however, although I got an apology, it was basically my fault as I believed that a payment was due and didn't pay it. I should have got it in writing. So, be warned, IF IN DOUBT: Check your insurance is valid and current! PS: $221.80 for 3 months - 60% NCB and 'Advantage Driver' policy on a May 2003, as in the signature below.
  13. Yep, have exactly the same thing in my Series I BA and manual gearbox. Most of my driving is highway and I am now in the habit of turning off the cruise control on hills that induce the surging. It seems that the cruise control picks up the throttle just a little too much and then completely drops off. In an auto it is probably not noticeable, in a manual it is poor. It is probably the worst CC I have come across in a manual (apart from the very early ones). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Interesting, I don't have any problems with mine and, in fact, probably tend to keep it on when I should turn it off and downshift. I've had it on for windy roads, incl overtaking lanes, with no problems.
  14. I don't believe it. I run a little tool called AnalogX NetStat and it shows instantaneous download speeds and I get a LOT faster speeds than during that test. Lightning....
  15. I am with Ford Credit too, but used HBF for insurance. No drama's, just had to get a fax confirming coverage sent to Ford Credit.
  16. Thanks guys, sorry, only just got around to seeing this :-) Lightning...
  17. Witty so and so, aren't you? Wouldn't have worked if it wasn't there, you see: Well, I guess it would have, but I would probably have needed a tripod and the tree was far more convenient! This was a few seconds earlier, with a different exposure point. Or, do you prefer this one (sorry about the tree here too, but it's a different one!): Lightning....
  18. Haha, very good, -carty. I would have launched one of those at the seagull if it had dared to even think about the deed :-)
  19. Doesn't this only work with Outlook 2003? Not having used a competitive product, I don't know!
  20. Hi all, Just thought I'd share this photo with you, it may calm you down or it may make you feel like going for a drive Taken at 05:19, last Friday morning, 2000+ km from home. Lightning....
  21. Hi a workmate has a 1965 (I think) Mustang and he has asked me to take some photo's of it for him. So, do any Perthites have any suggestions as to scenery? Something like the South Perth foreshore, but the Koppers logs are in the way, or maybe a beach carpark scene in the evening? Something like this (too far to go for him):
  22. What file format are you saving it as? I'd guess .TIF, but you need to see if you can save it as a .JPG file as that is a lossy format that compresses well and will be a small percentage of the original.
  23. I paid an $8600 mobile phone bill on my company AMEX in February this year, does that count?
  24. Cool, even I can understand that  Thanks, Lightning....
  25. Okay, enquring minds ask "Why"? I would have thought it would be best for the most grip to be on the drive wheels??? Lightning...
