  1. If you're close to what I got, especially the colour, you'll love it. Hehe, now I can finally say that! Simon....
  2. Phantomxr6, How are the headlight protectors? Do that add or detract from the visual presence of the car? Simon....
  3. Trust me guys, the weather we have here at the moment isn't condusive to pics Anyway, will do as soon as I can find a good setting and a fine day. Sunday's looking good. Photo's of the dash just don't do it justice. Anyway, damn, I have to DRIVE to work! Seeya later...
  4. ... and I can't wipe the grin off my face, as the guys at work could tell you. Anyway, please excuse a cut and paste off FordForums, but I'm too tired to type a new one. Thanks to all members for their advice, assistance and suggestions. I'm as happy as a pig in sh*t! My observations: A belated "Congratulations Uncle Geoff"!! Hi all and, particularly, Dear Geoff Polites, I picked up my XR6T this morning. What can I say? I've just got home (22:20) and now have 130km on the clock. I came from an AUII VCT XR6 and was a little worried I wouldn't be totally happy, but I am! Some first observations: It handles better (better ride) The clutch is lighter I LOVE the turbo whine when you give it a bit of gas I LOVE the dash, I hadn't seen it lit up until today The leather IS better than the AUII XR6. Trust me, don't waver, get it! Ditto for the Sports Steering wheel! The 'XR6" scuff plates are WAY smaller than I expected! If you want the liner for the boot LID, don't order "the boot liner". You may get the rubber insert for the boot WELL. I don't mind it, so I've kept it. The Premium Brakes on the front are painted BLACK. We thought they were BLUE. I would have prefered blue :-( The Mercury Silver Premium Paint is wicked! The small things that are good: The way the air-con comes on when you select 'demist' The overspeed and fuel low beeps are louder The trip computer The way the interior lightning fades on and off The 4 stage dimmer on the dash display The inversion of the Premium Sound display when headlights are turned on The small things that are bad: The coin tray is worse than the AUII, $1 coins have nowhere to go! The TC and the foglights button are obscured by the steering wheel I preferred the open cup holder format of the AUII rather than the 'lid' version in the BA, I can't lay my mobile down and keep an eye on it etc. The BIG thing that is bad (for me): No illuminated power window switches. A cheap move, to save about $400-$500 retail. There are ways around this, but I shouldn't have to add LED's myself. Not happy with that. That'll do for now. I love it, thanks Geoff Polites and David Flint too! I'm looking forward to the weekend! Simon....
  5. That was the reason I was given for a weeks delay in the original date, but I almost have mine now and there are heaps of happy people on the boards this weekend, so it could be the case. Simon....
  6. If mine could swim, I'd come too. Hmmm, I'll have to find an enterprising person in Perth to do them. Simon....
  7. I'll give a vote to number plate frames. Simon....
  8. Interesting. I've got the Ford ones coming with mine on Thursday (gee, it feels GOOD saying that), but I will see what they're like. How are they fitted, adhesive? Simon....
  9. This is true, but I am amazed you had to pay a deposit. I didn't, I offered but they said they didn't need it. How many others needed a deposit? I was told today that delivery is now pushed out to August, but that's still the same time as I waited Simon....
  10. Esky, I know it's probably been said, but I LOVE that photo in your sig. Excellent. Do you have a LARGE copy of it? Simon....
  11. Geez, Ford must have shipped a TON of XR6's last week. Maybe they got 500 Premium Sounds in or something? Mine's getting picked up on Thursday, but I visited it today Simon....
  12. Aha, you too? Thought I was special :D Must be a Ford initiative. Well done to whoever thought of it. Simon....
  13. As you've discovered, this is not unusual. I ordered mine in late January, I pick it up this coming Thursday (Woohoo). As I've been told constantly, the wait's worth it. Simon.... PS: Probably not as bad for me, I'm driving an AUII VCT XR6 now.
  14. Anyone else in Perth thinking of doing this mod? Simon....
  15. In WA, they usually park the van in a culdesac backing on the the main road. It's not unusual for the van to be some distance from the Multanova itself. The advantage of this is that they're usually in the same place each time. The following's a letter I wrote last year (I won't bother typing in the piece of political correct crap that I received in return): OIC - Bunbury Police – Traffic Sgt. M. Taylor 76 -78 Wittenoom St Bunbury, WA, 6230 Dear Sir, This letter is as a follow-up to a telephone call that I made last Saturday morning, 2nd November. I believe that I was connected to Perth Traffic and they undertook to pass on my comments to Bunbury Traffic. This letter is to formalise that conversation so as to record my complaint. At approx 11:30am on Saturday morning, I passed a Multinova speed camera on Bussell Highway, Bunbury and am writing to express my views on its placement. I have been traveling to Augusta every 4-5 weeks for the last 5 years or so and this section of Bussell Highway (near the Caltex Service Station, south of the city) has always been within in a 110 km/h zone. As you are no doubt aware, this section of highway is quite busy and, when merging with traffic, it usually requires rapid acceleration to the speed limit to merge with other vehicles in a safe manner. Last Saturday, this is exactly what happened. Approx 500m south of the Service Station, I saw a yellow "Thank you for driving within the speed limit" sign. I believe that this was very near, if not literally attached to a new speed zone sign indicating 100 km/h, instead of 110 km/h! I was concentrating on traffic flow and failed to clearly sight the Multanova or the associated Police vehicle clearly, but I believe they were behind bushes just to the north of this sign. I noted that my speed was just on, or below 110 km/h at this point in time, as I believed this was the legal limit. I wish to express my disgust at the placement of this camera and I am strongly inclined, if I receive an infringement notice, to take this to court as I believe it's placement isn't within the spirit of the law and due to inadequate notification of the speed limit change. It is approximately 5-6 weeks since my last trip down to Augusta and it was a 110 km/h zone then. I am aware that it's not a responsibility of the Police Department, but I do not understand why Main Roads has not erected signs advising of the speed limit change. Where this has recently occurred north of Mandurah, large signs have been in place for several months. This does not, however, excuse the actions of the person who decided on the placement of this camera. In my opinion, this action does nothing to further the cause of Road Safety in Western Australia and just further fosters the "Multanovas are just revenue raising for the Government" (a view that I do not personally subscribe to). I have seen several cameras' in positions that appear to fit this description over past years, but this is the first time I've been moved to write a letter of complaint as a result. This indicates how unfair I believe the circumstances to be in this case. I look forward to a response from you on this matter and would be happy to discuss if required. Please feel free to forward this letter to Main Roads WA, or advise me to do so, if appropriate. Thank you,
  16. This is starting to piss me off somewhat. I have an AUII XR6, it has illuminated power window switches on ALL 4 doors, it has a fold down centre armrest in the rear (never been used, but that's not the point). Why do I get the feeling that I am, in some respects going backwards here? Was it really that much of a dollar saving guys? Sheez. Simon....
  17. Sounds like it's a next door neighbour of mine. Except mine's waiting for the Premium Brakes. ETA: 12/5 Woohoo. Hope it's not late, am in Brisbane the week after and it better not be early, in Sydney the week before! Simon.....
  18. Hi, I've done a similar thing (the 'gouges', not the intimidation, I hasten toa dd). While it's depressing (especially when you cause it yourself, as I did), there's no real damage done. I think you've done the correct thing in migrating to the spare, but this is more for aesthetic reasons that structural ones. Simon....
  19. You guys amaze me. I respect your abilities totally. When someone in WA gets this sorted out, I'll happily pay you to do it to mine, with a profit thrown in. I am going to miss the illuminated switches in my AUII XR (what were Ford thinking?) Simon....
  20. I first drove the auto and liked it more than I thought I would. Then, the next day, I drove the manual and immediately (within 500m) decided that was it for me. :D Simon....
  21. Name: Simon Age: 41 Sex: Definately male Location : Perth Occupation: GSC Supervisor (Hehe, Supervisor of an international IT Service Desk for a mining company) Currently Drive: AUII XR6 On Order: Mercury Silver XR6T Married: No (Phew)
  22. Argh! I'm starting to get impatient now.... I kinda don't want mine delivered before Easter though, as I'm going down south and don't want to have to drive like a Granny all the way. Mr Ford, can you do a deliver for Easter Tuesday? :D Simon....
  23. Really? Why the change of mind?
  24. Like the side on pic... Makes me impatient for mine! Did you get the Premium brake upgrade? Looks very similar to my spec, but I didn't go for the reversing sensors. Simon....
  25. I saw my first Mercury Silver XR6T in the wild the other day, very nice. I love the photo's, thanks. Simon....
