  1. Hmmmm....maybe because l can  <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Left yourself wide open there pal, lucky Im in a good mood today vik <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lucky me then Seemed like a reasonable question, moreso than the response anyway. Steve
  2. Not having a go but why would you advertise your T as an FPV when it isn't?
  3. Whats with the Xr6Turbo.com....? Can you get one with Cobragolfclubs.com?
  4. Noticed a dyno graph on the wall of an exhaust shop the other day selling the virtues of a BMC filter over all others. The results ( on an XR6 T) reflected a paltry .1 rwkw improvement over standard for the K&N and a whopping 9rwkw over standard for the BMC. I have a K&N at present and other than a slight improvement in initial throttle response I cant say that I really noticed a difference in performance. Dare say you would notice a difference with BMC's reported 9rwkw increase. Is the BMC really that much better than the K&N. Anyone had experiences with both?
  5. I am just waiting for the "Ford Bashing" complaint
  6. Well done Scotty. For those that are just embarking on modding and individualising their T's, forum members such as yourself who are prepared to be different ,give the rest of us the insight and confidence that comes from being able to "try before you buy". Whether it be bonnet treatments, CAI, rims, kits, stipes, exhausts etc. I for one am enjoying my car more as a result of what have seen and learnt from spending time on this forum. Cheers Steve
  7. Stop looking for a wedding dress might be a good start !
  8. What is it with this Ford vs Expensive Daewoo cr*p. Very small minded if you ask me. Like the moron that yelled out "Buy a f*uckin Expensive Daewoo ya Nob" as I drove by with my wife and 2 young boys in the car. True meaning of the word Loser - Get a life I say.
  9. you spelt bulletin wrong dude.....

    Hi Clone

Has anybody ever tried the Hi Clone product? This product has been around for a number of years and promises good fuel savings and increased power for little outlay. Having done a search and found nothing about it suggests to me that it is either the worlds best kept secret or a tried and tested loser in the world of mods. For those that have'nt come across the Hi Clone, check out the site, for those that have, whats the go. Up to 10% increase if power and up to 20% in fuel savings for $160 (30 day money back guarantee) unbelievable but true?? www.hiclone.com.au
  11. Had mine done in WA however as a price guide $350 got me 2 1/2 inc. mandrel bent with twin mantra hot dogs, flanged, with the offer to buy back for $250. if unhappy with result. I am sure you could get done cheaper however the guys I used are recognised for quality of product and service. This is the way to go imo as the sound is sweet without being too in your face, bearing in mind it is a 6 cyl. turbo. The sound on start up and idle alone justifies the $$ spent. Improved throttle response is a noticeable benefit. Steve
  12. Ian Re: throttle body prob. I too have high idle on cold start up. Ford did'nt believe it would be a throttle body problem and did a flash upgrade instead which hasn't helped. Whats involved in cleaning the throttle body and does it have to be done by Ford? By the way - SSinduction / Filter and Centre Muffler mods only, no chip Steve

    Stone chips

Stone chips aside, the quality (thickness) of the paint on these cars is very average. Just another example of how Ford has taken the shine off what is a really a leader of the pack when it comes to all round spirited driver enjoyment.
  14. Congratulations.......The colour does look nice particularly in the dimming light. Makes the silver Monaro look a bit plain. When it's run in you'll have to let us know which one took the honours. ... Enjoy!
  15. Dingah What you suggest makes perfect sense particularly given the range that Blown BA has sited. OK, so what exactly is valve flutter and how do you recognise it when it occurs? Steve
  16. I gather from reading various posts that the tolerance of stock valve springs seems to differ from T to T however I am keen to find out at what point the rwkw are likely to cause valve flutter. For those of us only wanting the limited thrill how far can we go ?
  17. How stupid would you have to be to think 15" tyres would fit 17" rims... everyone knows they are a different shape!!

    Miss Universe

Does that make Kylie Minogue - Miss Universe and beyond ?
  19. Lets just compare apples with apples - I have driven just about everything worth driving under 100k. Now assuming you are a spirited driver who wants a an attractive looking new car , with a reasonable amount of comfort, a T with 5k spent on it hard to beat ! Lets have some examples of 50k cars that offer the fun factor as well as being able to accomodate a set of golf clubs and five adults.

    Outsiders

When it came time to trade in the VTSS I pretty much drove everything european under 60k. Unfortuneately nothing available in that price range to get you exited about. When the T raised its head the choice was simple - rwd, spacious, good looks and great value for money. Spend 5k on mods and you have a car that offers the spirited driver as much as cars costing twice as much. IMO
  21. My T is booked in for the scanner / reflash 27 Sept. The following info was provided by the designated WA Tuner; At this stage all up cost for install with before/after dyno circa $1,100. Over a 4/5 day period the techs. from the US will be working with a WA tuner to develop various maps for a number of Fords I.e. XR8, GT and XR6 T as well as allowing for some modification varients I.e. one map for a stock T and one for a T with exhaust modes etc. Plan is to provide the customer with a TV type controller that will allow the user to switch between 3 maps - stock, fast and pushing the limits, the later peaking at around 300 - 320fwkw. Question is, what is the safe limit ? Chances are that the techs. involved would be far less knowledgeable on the subject than a number of forum members. It would be fair to say that if the product was to be an attractive option to the existing piggy backs, the flexibility for additional kw would have to be available however the Tuner was unable to comment on this. Fair to say that alot is unknown until the wise men from the US arrive. Once again - info provided by Tuner so I am sure Barry of BT will be able to clarify if I have been misinformed.
  22. Has anybody heard of or better still had any experience with the Greddy E-Manage ECU Interceptor ?. Traditionally this product is used in Jap. cars however is equally suitable for use in a T once wiring issues are dealt with. Essentially the same as unichip / xede etc. in that it is a piggy back unit, it does apparently provide a greater level of tuning flexibility due in part to its ability to intercept signals both entering and leaving the stock ecu. Why not stick with a product that we know works well with the T, I here you ask !. Well from what I have read / heard, the effectiveness of any chip is directly aligned to the quality of the Tuner and this is where the problem lies. Unlike on the East coast, WA is not blessed with Tuners that possess the experience / knowhow of the products commonly sited on this Forum. As a result I have held off going down the Xede / Unichip path in search of another option. An obvious option is to wait for the upcoming release of the scanner/reflash unit however I believe the same issues will exist with it being a new product.
  23. Next time someone comments on your weight problem tell them...... "Yeh, that's 'cause everytime I *beep* your wife she gives me a biscuit "
  24. Turbo6man / Biggy Thanks for the input. I have been asking around about the effect that a 2nd CAI would have and was told that "You can't have too much air" No one mentioned the Ram issue (including APS). Anyone in WA want a two day old XR8 CAI?
  25. Having already installed SS Induction and noticing an improvement in throttle response I decided to experiment by adding the under the headlight CAI as well. Whilst I dont have any kw or time stats to share I did notice a definate drop in mid range torque. How can this be? has the ecu freaked out and requires to time to adjust, I would'nt think so. Any thoughts ?
