Cruise 20/07/2013 (Or 21St) Les Do Eeeeeet
Bulletime replied to mcinnes's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Maybe we just cruise whenever and have more ad hoc cruises, I'm up for this weekend but out for a few weeks after. Nice two white Ts there, have to spoil the white party with some blue and black -
That I did hit know about the fog lights, wish they'd done that years ago, too many lame non turbos around. Didn't see the fog lights last night though.

I may have spotted XR50 Turbo on Parkes Way today heading home?? Was a bit busy weaving in and out of the mess that is the road works heading to the gde but there was a mk2 fg xr6 ute in white, didn't see if it was turbo. If it was you did you see me?

Most of jap wheels need hub rings but should be fine, my pf01s are going awesome. As I said I saved 20% off my tyre and wheels weight, ~18.5kgs, car feels more responsive turning and going through corners, also the wider tyres has helped there too.

I'm bummed I can't make it now ive got to work, among a million other things like being sick as a dog and having to pack. Was looking forward to showing off my new wheels too :( -
Yeah I even use it on some eBay and PayPal purchases, if they have the option to pay in USD or even GBP ill do it because it always works out better than what they give you for AUD.
-
And ppl won't be leasing them if the Rudd govt changes to FBT on cars is as bad as it looks to be, every second person I know has a novated lease, of they kill the FBT incentive then the car industry is going to be hurting even more.

I know this is a bit old but I've got some good info for buying from tirerack, I've done two orders now. So as mentioned above the banks bone you for international transaction fees ($20-$30) and the exchange rate is shocking as well eg xe.com shows as of right now AUD - USD 0.92119 whereas commbank will give you 0.8761, that's A 4.89% difference which is a lot! But you can avoid it!! Get yourself a 28degreesmastercard which is unreal for shopping overseas and traveling as well. You get the headline exchange rate ie right now the 0.92119 AND no currency conversion fees. If you travel overseas load it up into credit and use it as eftpos getting cash out and do whatever u want without international atm fees or currency exchange fees. On a recent overseas trip alone I saved about $700+ just in the exchange rate and fees. That was money for nothing, or rather would have just been some banks profit somewhere. Anyway back to tirerack... They will tell you they only accept wire transfer but after stuffing around and kicking up a stink what we worked out was that you can use your credit card but tirerack does their own verification for fraud and will want to verify you address details with the bank. To do this you do a conference call with your bank by simply calling tirerack at say 8am Australia time, they then conference in your bank and they verify your details and then tirerack are happy and bobs your uncle sale goes through. Massively worth is given the savings IMO. Hope that helps some ppl out, sucks about the aud atm but it can still be worth it depending what you're getting, be it slicks or rims or hard to get tyre sizing. Cheers.

so bit of an update, had these sitting in my garage now for a bit over a week and just had then fitted late this afternoon, to say I'm wrapped is an understatement! I love them. They look better on, was a little worried at first as the big sidewall on the front was strange when looking at them in the garage but it blends in nicely once on. Ill have to take some better pics but in person I'm loving them Haven't really had a chance to notice if they feel much lighter as I left the tyre shop with my stock wheels in the car so felt pretty heavy still but weight wise I weighed everything and it an ~18.5kg weight saving over the stock rims (inc tyres). That is pretty epic if you ask me!! Will report back once I get a proper drive out of them and see how much I notice the unsprung weight saving.

Hmm interesting, looks like one of those carbon fibre bonnets. Also looks like the car park under the G? Spotted a purple b series turbo ute, xr8 bonnet with "turbo" written on it. We had some fun in the wet on the way home from work.

Changed the oil, nulon 10-40, used the car ramps for the first time, made it so much easier.

I'm keen but I don't think I can really commit that much time including lunch and everything since I'm busy packing. I'd be happy to join up after lunch for the cotter drive and yeah out to the dish is a really nice drive, also pretty long too. -

Yeah cotter is a nice drive, gotta watch for cyclists and you can get urself into trouble going to fast as its a known run too. Some of the fast corners are fun but being surprised by cyclists mid apex ain't. -
Ahh so front bar is fixed up too then. Lol no vinyl.sh command
-
Why would ford want ACT plates? Sounds random. He should hang onto it with those plates too.
-
That looks sh!t. Just kidding! Looks pretty good, keen to see it up close and check out the fit. How much in total with the painting and everything? I'm guessing the vinyl didn't work out?

My uncle works in a power station and he said its a waste of government money, for the cost it's such an inefficient way to generate power. If the money was put in to the power plants we have or towards building new ones you would have way more power per dollar and hence better for the environment overall. Nsw will be up sh!t creek as they haven't built a power station for decades and all the current ones are past their intended life, hence inefficient coal power, and lack of power. New coal power stations are way more efficient, and dont require ridiculous amounts of maintenance for being well past their designed operating lifespan. Greenies should do nuclear that's the truest efficient power but ppl don't want glowing green babies. There's the warm fuzzy feeling but it's been a waste of government money, particularly when the solar cells are very inefficient, should have waited till more efficient technology was developed. Last thing is... God the panels are fugly! Really spoil some really nice looking houses. /rant

That makes two down here then, I saw one in fishd!ck ages ago with number plate GTRSPEC

I might be keen depending when, got the circuit club track day on the 7th. But I'm definitely keen to give my stock fg a run so I can compare after modded sometime in the future.
