dnb replied to Dubboxr6's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
Thanks Phantm, I can stop thinking twice about it now :D hopefully, its the same noise as the one Dubbo is describing. -
Standard Fg Xr6T Sucking Noise At Half Throttle!,?

oddly does your intake noise start about 2000-2500rpm when the turbo starts to wind up... and it sounds like a cop/ambulance siren is nearby? if that's the case then I'm gettin the same sound too... was going to ask my mechanic if its okay... mines started doing it about 9000kms.. -
Standard Fg Xr6T Sucking Noise At Half Throttle!,?

^^^ lol I have an fg and I can't say I hear any such sounds from within the cabin? -
yieah, I was pretty keen on doing this to my FG sedan too... but 1595 without installation was out of my budget... also means u have to return your old unit too...
-
this will be a newb question I'm sure... but will most decent tuners be able to tune lpg? like if I install lpg now... and want to modify it later, do I have to take it to an lpg specialist to tune/modify to get the best outcome? or any decent tuner will be able to tune/modify it? Also, which option did u end up getting worm? liquid or vapour? and did u get other power mods with it?
-
out of curiosity as I've been asking myself a similar question, how does vapour vs liquid change plans to further modify your car? do either one option inhibit you from adding power mods? all I know is that liquid injection runs cooler so it makes more sense to go the liquid way?

I've researched a little on this. Closest I could find was ASL automedia. http://www.asllogistics.com/product.php?productid=57&cat=0&page=1 Description: Single CD with Colour TFT screen upgrade (Ford FG) "Upgrade your Ford FG to a colour TFT screen. This allows you to add some of our other kits such as GPS Navigation, Reverse camera or DVD through the front screen. (Compatible with selected Ford vehicles) Discounted price is for complete UNIT CHANGEOVER. The existing unit must be returned to ASL." $1595

Awesome guys, thanks for the information. every little bit gives me a much better understanding of my car sounds like for the first stage, a tune with injectors seem the way to go. I have a question regarding tunes: what are the rough performance differences between a tune using 95ron or 98ron?
-
so it seems the way it is tune is by far the most important, and we got a choice of intercooler piping high flow cat injectors I've always wanted to know this.. Which is the most limiting factor in the stock FG? the exhaust, intercooler/piping or the injectors? - injectors > intercooler > exhaust? or - injectors > exhaust > intercooler or anything else I'm missing..
-
cools, I do have an FG so I'm half-set with a smaller turbo :D I was pretty set on getting a tune, was just wondering whether to get something else on top of that to augment it. after processing a little more of what is out there... I'm guessing it comes down to something like a CAI with battery relocation or a better intercooler with piping kit? I can only assume that both would give the best results... but if I had to choose one?
-
hey guys Am interested to know what mods will help with improving early acceleration and responsiveness? is it mainly a Cooler air intake (e.g. plazmaman air intake kit) or mainly a bigger/better intercooler? or anything else I've missed? exhaust? is it all in the way it is tuned? I'm not looking to turn my car into anything too intense... just want to know an effective way to improve it.

^^^^ honestly that clip was great! very satisfying with moving shots from the chopper! couldn't ask for more! thanks!

man, would love to see a video of the whole lap!
-
hahaha I get the same comments also, except once it was actually flat, doh! I recently found myself a little sideways, I thought it was my poor-ass driving skills, but after reading around, seems the tyre has a lot to do with it too... no excuses for my driving though hehehe this year will be my first winter, so I guess I should take it easy.
-
well that's the quote that basically encapsulates this entire thread! lol :D
-
did they at least stamp your book? they didn't stamp mine... I should go pull them up about it... but lazy and figured it didn't really mean much anyways oh! doh! sounds expensive! certainly doesn't inspire confidence. good thing I've sent my pm to xft before I read the post :D I'm assuming this is the man to pm? "Xtreme F6"
-
funny u should mention the 3km complimentary service... do they really actually do anything? mine was booked in for one alongside some warranty issues with the glovebox and ceiling lining. I'm pretty sure they did nothing except offer me an $80 wheel alignment...
-
started looking at the track days that are around here, and looks like a great idea to see what the car is capable of, but more to the point of seeing what I need to learn hahaha looking forward to having a go! after some gentle encouragement :D I'm definitely going to go down the mods path and with sensible suggestions of improving the overall package of the car (brakes, suspensions etc) this should be fun! with regards to the warranty, I'm "umming and ahhring" about it but chances are I'll be doing that all the way to the door of my designated tuner! hehe as I don't service my own car, I think a lot of it will depend on the first service the ford dealership does on it... I guess if I'm not too happy with it, I'll probably go to my own guy and screw the warranty... this will open the flood gates of things to change on my T :D
-
ahh' date=' I see, had wondered that also. A good part of me was hoping for that rather than a balanced opinion :D helps me with good points to help the missus go along with it too I've decided that as soon as I modify anything, I can expect that the warranty will be void. after all, Ford dealerships don't earn money by giving sh*t away unless they have to. As far as Pay to play, I think that I'm very lucky to have purchased a car that appears to be very very easy to extract extra power from, thank god for that! :D but I do understand that it can be never ending also (but isn't that the charm of it also? hehe) all in all, I think I'll end up wrestling with myself til the moment I turn up at the tuner's door ahhaha but its awesome to see the support of other enthusiasts I'm loving this place more and more
-
well I immediately bought the turbo as soon as I test drove it instead of the N/A one... so u can say that I'm probably well on the way to more KWs and beyond there doesn't appear to be a hint of defence for keeping it stock. Looks like this will become a landslide victory to the mod team. this will still have to be my everyday car, so I can't go completely insane on it... I'm hoping to get it all done reliably through one of the site sponsor/advertiser whom I've heard very good things about. I better start saving them pennies and as far as racing is concerned... I think I'll sh*t myself a number of times before getting the hang of it, but it all sounds like GREAT fun!
-
oops, sorry to mention that mine was a sedan... I have no idea whether a ute is cheaper than a sedan or not... gluck in your search mate

Thanks for the responses. Yes, I've had little to no exposure to anything performance-wise, and even less with modifcations/drags/circuit racing. A bloke has got to start somewhere right? :D I had wondered if there were others like me trawling through the internets on the verge of plunging into the world of RWKW, drags and circuits How easy is it to get into Drags and track racing(I'm assuming track days are the go here)? is it a case of just rocking up with a helmet and go for your life? it also seems very few keep their T's stock then?

Hi Fellas I've just bought a FG xr6t, have read through the xr6t starters thread and found the mod scene quite intriguing. my since car still has 2.5 years of warranty left and am now posed with a few questions: 1) should I break my warranty and go ahead with tunes and modifications? 2) wait til my warranty has run out and then go with tunes and mods? 3) leave completely stock, save my money and in 6-10 years time see what Ford has to offer then? I'm hoping with this post to get an idea of the MAIN why the reasons people modify or keep their Fords stock? if other fans and members would write of their reasons that'd be hugely appreciated. do u guys race them (circuit or drag), use everyday or both? further information about whether its a pain in the arse to modify in regards insurance cover, running costs and whether its worth the effort would be awesome if anyone has the time to write (As it is really obvious that I'm a newb at this... after all I came from a small sh*tty mazda to this, I hope I have not posted a new topic out of line) Thanks in Advance dnb

$38k for 50th anniversary is a great price, as I tot I got a good deal with my 2010 xr6t auto ego demo (not 50th) with no xtras at all, $37k driveaway with 4000km on the clock (not 40,000km)
