  1. Nice pick Insurance costs have a lot to do with where you live. For example, I hypothetically did quotes to see what it would be for me when I get a T (which will be after I get my Black's in October) and Just Cars would do me a 19 yo male in Northmead, NSW for $2800 on standard excesses and that was the cheapest (probs didn't help that I'm still on my P's, most wouldn't even offer a quote). If I increased my age one year to 20 then it dropped to $2430. If I did 19 yo in Blacktown though, they wanted $4960 As you can see, your locality has a bigger effect on your premium than your age. Basically, age only makes a difference when you move into a new bracket; there's often a large reduction when you turn 25 and 50. For my parents, NRMA is cheapest. For me though, insuring the same car they have under the same conditions, AAMI would be cheapest, so you really need to do the quotes yourself. Just because GIO is cheapest for one person doesn't mean they are for the next.
  2. Nice R8 Although I'm not into the wheels touching the top of the arch thing, Im always afraid the wheels will rub
  3. Do you know if you can fit the XR grill to the G6E? It's alot less 'bright' and blends with the car better (the black at least).
  4. I.e If you try to mod an old engine, expect to pay more than normal to make sure everything is up to spec and isn't going to kark it in another 10,000 km.
  5. Quite the opposite. Your car will run more smoothly and probably have less problems if it's custom tuned. It's the physical modifications that can cause problems if not done right.
  6. Ahhh, OK. That makes sense. AAMI wanted $2850 with their standard excesses for a 2008 FG Turbo in my name.
  7. Yeah it's cause they make an absolute killing when you finance the car. Makes them more money than if you pay cash.
  8. What did you have to crank the excess up to to get that premium?
  9. Yeah, was he a P plater too and was it a Turbo car? Cause I seem to remember these "save the chidren" idiots harping on about how Turbo cars should be restricted/banned when the kid shouldn't have been in it anyway... Also, the Police report said they were doing 140 on impact with the skids on the road estimated at 160. Before the car began to skid, they could have been doing 170 or more. There was also a call to ban 6 cyl cars on red P's (along with possibly Turbo's if that car did have a turbo???) but that was rejected by the Police Minister because "4 cyl cars can go just as quick, if not quicker than these falcon's and commodore's. The only difference is that it takes them longer to get to these speeds. They can still get up to these dangerous speeds on long straight sections of road such as this".
  10. This is a f***ing awesome thread. The guys at work were laughing their heads off at this guys antics. This has to be one of the best Ebay threads around. This dude needs to be taught a lesson for trying to rip people off, although he probably sold his "fully sick modded xt turbo" to some 17 year old P plater who didn't bother to do any research before purchase.
  11. Its probably a demo with a few km's on it. If its a new one, tell your brother to put a deposit on it now. That would be an awesome price for a brand new G6ET...
  12. So you only had to come up with $32,500 in cash then? Or was the total actually 45,500?
  13. What speed is it idling at? It may just be idling too low when in Drive.
  14. What sort of money are you looking at for a tailshaft replacement? I don'timagine they're cheap to replace...
  15. Hi Guys, I've noticed some people only use Premium 95 because the Premium 98 is too expensive. I was wondering what the differences in the cost of fuel is in different areas. Around my Area (Northmead, NSW plus North Rocks, Parramatta, etc) Premium 95 always seems to be 10-12c more than E10 and Premium 98 is another 4c on top of the 95, so to me it seems like a no brainer to use the Premium 98 over the 95. Obviously others must have a much greater spread if Premium 98 is too expensive. I can understand saving the money and going E10 (although I'd personally never use it in a XR6T). For example, when I filled up last week: E10: 141.9 P95: 153.7 P98: 157.7
  16. Are you after a BA or a BF? They're seperate models but the BK isn't a Falcon model (as far as I know). Price wise, an early BA could be had for <$15,000 but a '07 or '08 BF MkII would be around $25,000 to $30,000 for a good one I think.
  17. was that a 50th anniversary or a normal one? Looks like a good deal
  18. If I was over 50 I'd be looking at the luxury FPV variants as well.
