Nice pick Insurance costs have a lot to do with where you live. For example, I hypothetically did quotes to see what it would be for me when I get a T (which will be after I get my Black's in October) and Just Cars would do me a 19 yo male in Northmead, NSW for $2800 on standard excesses and that was the cheapest (probs didn't help that I'm still on my P's, most wouldn't even offer a quote). If I increased my age one year to 20 then it dropped to $2430. If I did 19 yo in Blacktown though, they wanted $4960 As you can see, your locality has a bigger effect on your premium than your age. Basically, age only makes a difference when you move into a new bracket; there's often a large reduction when you turn 25 and 50. For my parents, NRMA is cheapest. For me though, insuring the same car they have under the same conditions, AAMI would be cheapest, so you really need to do the quotes yourself. Just because GIO is cheapest for one person doesn't mean they are for the next.
