    Over It

I'm still on my first job, never really had a serious job at Macca's or anything at school. My dream is to become an Airline Pilot but the road is long (understandable, you wouldn't want any old random flying 500 people), expensive (100K is the budget for initial training) and it takes a while to get to the good money. $250K for a Captain at some airlines but you have to start at the bottom of the rung. If your lucky enough to get in to Qantas they start at $70,000 but all the other airlines are lower, closer to $40K starting. Then you have to do more training, work your way up the hierarchy.
  2. I didn't realise it had a G sensor. Makes sense cause I noticed it do that sometimes coming back on Bells Line
  3. Flash is becoming a non-issue. Adobe finally realised that HTML5 is better for the web, especially mobile devices and no longer actively develops it, only doing security updates before dropping support in the future. While the Galaxy CPU may have more cores and be faster, I haven't seen it beat the iPhone in any of the benchmarks review sites have done so far. Part of this will be due to the A6 being a newer architecture than the Samsung (similar to Ivy Bridge vs Sandy Bridge) and part of it is Apple's optimisation that they spend heaps of time doing. It could be argued the iPhone supports HDMI and MicroUSB as there are adapters (which ignores the fact Apple retain their own adapter because MicroUSB is no good for Analogue Audio Out or Line Out or Video Screen Display in cars). I'm surprised they haven't mentioned some of the Galaxy S3's software things like picking it up to call someone, etc.
  4. It's possible it wasn't on when I got the car then. It's the first time I was paying attention from the side of the car rather than the front so I've never really noticed it before.
  5. Are you a Platinum One Frequent Flyer yet?
  6. Yeah, a guy from my school owns two servos and 90% of his profit (not revenue) is from in store sales. Obviously the majority of revenue is from fuel but the margin is razor thin. To compete with the local BP/Caltex Woolworths/Shell Coles he sells at a loss some days. He was talking about low single digit cents/litre profit half the week and the equivalent loss the other half. On fuel alone, he reckons he wouldn't survive. Is there any cheap way to test the fuel you're putting in to the car?
  7. Bahaha, you must post pics or GTFO of your efforts with your work guys Shy
  8. Thanks mate, that's what I thought. Do they normally come loose? I haven't touched anything in the engine bay yet, other than checking oil, coolant, etc. Will Ford replace it under Warranty?
  9. Looking good. You'll have to post more pics once the caps are on.
  10. The only bad thing is the replacement of Google Maps. Everything else is good, solid, improvements. For example, you can now have multiple signatures, use bold/italic/underline, reject a call and auto send a message to them, integrated Facebook the same as Twitter, disable ads from tracking you like Google does on the desktop, placed Bluetooth on the root settings menu, added a heap more granular privacy controls for what apps are allowed to access, etc. It's not iOS 6 that's the problem, it's specifically the maps. Other than the maps, it's a good update. Ironically, it's receiving heaps of praise from China and India as its tons more detailed for them compared to Google Maps. It seems Apple has targeted these emerging markets for future $$$ and neglected the Western world. At least we don't have to wait for our Telco to release an update for us I couldn't be bothered going through pre order dramas so I haven't bothered getting an iPhone 5 yet. I'll probably get one in the next few weeks.
  11. Hey guys, Just wanting to confirm that there should indeed be a second bolt in the crossover? It appears that mine is missing the bolt closest to the firewall...
  12. What sort of qual's did you do for your job SDP? If I remember right you haven't always been an engineer so did you go back to Uni? Engineering's always interested me, I just never got on well with the maths teacher, haha (I was still reasonably good though) Reminds me of when we had that huge group text going a couple of months back that you started before people complained about their sleep. It got well over 120 at one point when I looked at mine, lol.
  13. What's the tip from you experts for the Final?
  14. Yep, we need to do more cruises. The other states seem to get out a lot more than we do. I know of a 'cool' cruise to the Snowy Mountains in November (hint, you should come along people and book your accomodation) Looking forward to the video, should be good.
  15. I heard somewhere (could have been at a driver education thing in high school) that the majority of people who have fatigue accidents are less than 2km from home. You become complacent when you're that close because you know the roads like the back of your hand and that's when your brain clocks off. When you're on an unfamiliar road, you pay more attention.
  16. It was an awesome day guys. Thanks for organising it all Fierce.
  17. Sounds good Corzza. What sort of date/time were you thinking of?
  18. What frequency do you normally use for the cruises?
  19. What time would you be getting to Bathurst? I'll already be in Bathurst on Sunday morning.
  20. What sort of rwkw is needed for 10 sec passes?
  21. Well I can't edit so I'll add this. I've tried with my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1.1 and also running the iOS 6.0 GM and neither gives me Caller ID (phone is on Optus). I tried with my Dad's iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1 and it doesn't give me Caller ID either (on Telstra). The Ford Manual says Caller ID may not work if the carrier does not support it but it is activated on both of these phones so it's not the carrier and it doesn't work on two different phones running two different iOS versions. Deduction tells you it's the ICC not playing nice.
  22. I take it from that hint that we can expect FG MkIII or 'FH' in 2014 then. At least we can kill off the "When's the next model?" threads that pop up every now anf then for the next 18 months, lol.
  23. I'm sort of used to Apple's Warranty and customer service and I expect the same from all manufacturers now They probably all hate me, I spent an hour in store to get a like-for-like replacement TV while ours was being repaired under warranty. I realise my expectations are above what many companies are used to offering though. I ended up getting time off work, so I left it for a whole day. The issue with the iPod not working after turning off and restarting the car is as described below, it's where the iPhone sees the latest connection is Bluetooth and connects to it instead. What phone and OS version do you have? Ford told me "The iPhone 4 used to work but doesn't work but the latest iOS is incompatible". In any case, if it was working and now doesn't then I see it as a Ford Warranty issue. It would be like Dell or Lenovo saying 'Oh, you installed Service Pack 1 on Windows 7, sorry we don't support you anymore'. Yep, I've done some testing and you're correct. It's sort of logical I guess, if you connect to Bluetooth after the dock then the phone assumes you want to use it. Normally you would, except in a car... I only have the issue if it's connected to both and the car is restarted, it seems to keep the dock connection during startup but the bluetooth is lost and reconnected.
