  1. I really like how that sits mate. good choice I reckon. Edit: I just realised that I dug this up from years ago... oops.
  2. I don't think it would be laminar flow, more like reduced pressure drop due to the rough walls through the throttle body. I cant see the airflow being particularly laminar after going through the turbo, the intercooler and all the piping. Not to mention going past the butterfly of the throttle body itself if you're not at WOT... hmm, now that I think about it, it could be a build up restricting airflow when the butterfly is mostly closed which would explain the issues at idle I guess.
  3. Thanks for putting up that link, pretty crazy how much some of it has (or hasn't) changed since the movie! Seems to be a lot more green & trees around these days...
  4. I didnt pay the extra for the no-claim windscreen replacement option. I'm with AAMI, and I think they only cover the front windscreen anyway. If they cover all windows, then it probably would of been a good idea to pay for it...
  5. Does anyone know what kind of price I'm looking at to get the rear window only tinted on a BF XR sedan? A falling branch took out my rear window last week (I've only had the car 2 weeks!) and the replacement glass isn't tinted... I'm just glad that the branch was small enough that it didn't actually touch any panels - just the window.
  6. Awesome, might have to grab one.
  7. Can someone tell me if this is this the right CAI for a BF XR6T: Ebay Link I think it's from Ferntree Gully Auto Salvage. Thanks, Steve.
  8. AAMI was the cheapest for me as well. I'm 28 in Melb, Rating 1 - $711/year. There's a huge thread on insurance here as well: Insurance....<merged Topic>....
  9. Read through this whole thread this arvo lol. Umm'd & ahh'd about doing this (I've only had the car since Saturday), but in the end I decided to go for it & give the solenoid a hit of WD40. I'm really impressed with the increase in responsiveness down low. (is responsiveness a word? ) I also came across this about cleaning the throttle body: Is the aim of cleaning the throttle body just to allow the butterfly to move more freely? ie: so it's not all gummed up? Is there any reason you'd clean deeper into the manifold? Would this have any benefits?
  10. Most likely I will do some work to it, but I'm still getting to know the car. I used to have a BF Fairmont, but that was a 4speed and the XR6T with the 6 speed is a completely different beast. In the end though, power is addictive & I'll end up modding it for more performance. The First Mods Thread had a few nice suggestions, so that's probably where I'll start when I decide I want more power.
  11. Hi everyone. I've been looking around here for a while, but since I bought my '05 BF XR6T yesterday, thought I'd say hi. I've been looking around for a while, but when the alternator on my patrol died it gave me the motivation to finally take the plunge. an is the BF a massive step up from the ol' GQ Patrol. Soo much more power, heaps more comfy & quiet interior! It goes, stops, turns & rides better. All I can really say is I'm stoked to be back in a ford with some performance! '05 BF XR6 Turbo 155,000 kms stock standard lightning strike silver I haven't been able to stop smiling while I'm in it! :D
