mark, can't argue with you about that one. Just love that rush that a turbo gives you. Can't stop smilin

Whats your average fuel comsumption like?
macka'sxr6t replied to dutchie's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
9L per 100k cruising at 110km on the open road. Don't really take much notice around town. Live in the country and the cities are'nt very big around here. I give it some stick when the opportunity comes along on the open road. -
 Turbo06, That's the excuse that I used to convince my wife. Didn't expect such a huge increase in milage and still have 237 rwkw as well. On the cruise to Wonthaggi I filled up at West Gate Shell servo cruised around all day andby the time I got back to Castlemaine (Cental Vic) the fuel gauge was showing slightly under half for 460 km travelled. Last Saturday I went to Winton to watch V8 practice. Filled up before I left, it's a 456 km round trip and the gauge was a needle with lower. But I put that down to the higher cruisin speed that I had with a clubby on the way up 140 - 160 kmh oooops!!! that breakin the law isn't it. No way was I going to let a sucky commie out run me.

Hi all, I had mine reflashed at 3000 km service to stop it from going into limp home mode after over rev when starting car. It then used fuel like a Mack BDouble, worse still, if I used BP Utlimax. Would be lucky to get 300 km to the tank. I didn't worry about getting another reflash, I had a Xede installed and now I'm getting close to 700 Km per tank and it seems to be improving every top up as the motor free's up. Fuel tank range on trip computer used to say 565 km it now says 675 km. So I reckon the Xede won't take long to pay for itself. OH!! it also goes like stink as well. Cheers

Just wondering if anyone can tell me where and how I would go about geting a short motor. I've heard that they cost about $2200. If this true it wouldn't be hard to fit or costly to fit new rods and lower compression pistons. Got to be much cheaper than $8000+ you would think. More boost here we come.

To my way of thinking, I have to agree with George. The lenght of the ducting really has no bearing on air charge temp increasing, unless the air temp outside of the ducting is significantly higher than the air temp inside the piping. In which case the piping would then absorb the heat, becoming a heat conductor and increase the air charge temp. If the air charge temp on the inside of the piping is greater than that outside it would then become like the intercooler and become a heat reducer, with the heat radiating out from the pipe duct, but because there is no significant air flow in that part of the engine bay the cooling effect would be mimimal but it would still be there. Has anyone measured the temp of the engine between the heat shield and the pipe ducting and compared that to the air charge inside the pipe ducts to varify which category the piping falls into. The actual amount of boost that you are running will effect the intake air charge and intercooler efficiency more than the lenght of the ducting. By increasing the boost (air compression) you are increasing the friction between the air molecules which generates the heat in the first place that's why it's more important to find an intercooler that can handle your boost.

Good post Geea, I to have seen the work they where doing on the ferrari. They actually started it the day I had my Xede installed. Simon is very helpful and is keen to answer any questions you ask. That is why I trusted him to do the work on my car and produced a good result with my car 237 rwkw with the only other mod being the exhaust. As far as intercoolers go I now that MRT Performance are developing a Intercooler kit including piping in conjunction with Hyperflow. Release date should be end of August. Kit price is expected to be ($1800 - $2000) but this is yet to be confirmed. I don't no how this price compares to the APS & Nizpro but it seams reasonably priced to me. I'll try to find out more info if anyone is interested. I now Ben Taylor from MRT will be only to happy to help. macka

Thanks Miss_Ally, Newspaper arrived today. Just want to add my thanks and congrats on organising everything. Only too happy to buy you a round next time we catch up. Hopefully on Sept cruise. macka

Yep, I could'nt wait very long, my first turbo car and their unbievable. You've just gotta hvave more boost!!! First mod was done at 3000km exhaust and air filter, 6000k Xede chip, by Sept 04 cruise will have my next mod done and I'll be interested in getting your opinions and feedback. My simple rule is if you can't afford to replace it don't mod it. Watch this space macka

to the club, I can guarantee that you will enjoy the car as much as everyone here on this forum. They have their little faults as most cars do. They will all disappear though when you use the LOUD pedal. It's great too, when all the Expensive Daewoo drivers just can't help themselve and look at the your car, with a look on their face, of I wish I had one of those instead of this piece of , when you drive past them. Still can't stop smilin. Macka

Slikxr6t, I want to get there early so that I can get a good spot to watch them holden boxes get stomped on by Ambrose and the rest of the ford boys

Miss_Ally Mulwala is a nice spot, although I don't know about the fishing. Any spare time I have will be spent in my T or at the bar. I still like the idea of Geea's meeting up with the NSW members if they're keen would be really something to see 30-50 turbo's touring the country side. we should wait a couple of days to see if they respond favourably to the idea. Dutchie the further you take the kids the quicker they get used to it. Our kids had been to QLD 3 times by the time they were 5 years old driving 8-10 hrs each day. macka

That sounds good to me craig Have you or should we post the NSW members to get their thoughts. macka

I'll be at the Winton Roadhouse if it's still there at 9am Sat. Have'nt been up that way for 3-4 years. It will also be my 1st time at the V8 supercars. macka

Good news about another cruise What's the max distance or time people would want travel. I know most people on the last cruise live in melbourne. Is a weekend cruise out of the Question. Say a trip to rutherglen or wangarratta plenty of wineries & vineyards etc. Would be cool 20 T cruisin along the hume. Maybe we could go to Albury and call into where ford assemble the gearboxes and tell to build something that can handle the power of our precious's macka

What time saturday and where do you want to meet up.

Man THAT'S one BUTT UGLY car. Looks like the mitsubishi design team has transferred over to holden. If that's the best they can do Ford don't have to worry. Save you money and stick with the T or Typhoon.

Sorry to hear of your mishap chris & naomi, thank heavens you weren't hurt. Hope you get your T back soon. :banghead: See you on the next cruise Mr & Mrs Macka'sxr6t

Got back to Castlemaine at 6:10pm. We had a great day and as usual ford fans are the greatest. Thanks to Miss_Ally and George for organising a great cruise. Well done to XRdreaming and Geea for winning the prizes this time. A bigger well done to those who made the effort and turned up, to make it a great cruise. 1st Highlight was all the Fords filling Expensive Daewoo dealers yard and leaving. Would have done a bigger burnout only the missus was going crook I'll make her get in the back of the ute next time so that I can't her. Should send the dealer a pic of his new car range. 2nd was my first run at the lights with a AU Tickford V8 Ute. Needless to say it was no contest but can recommend it is the cheapest way to get that V8 rumble from your exhaust when there's one behind you. This was my first cruise but definately not my last. You can count us in anytime. Maybe a weekend cruise so that we can cruise during the day then have a chat over a frothy during the night. Macka

TO THE ADDICTION STARDUST. I can garantee you won't be able to get enough of this. Happy cruisin

I agree with the doc, Lets wait and see FPV will release to 270 kw later this year and by the time the Ve arrives they will probably producing more Kw than the LS2. Ford might try and get their together and produce a comparable 8 banger. But lets face it that's two more bangs than you really need. If Ford and FPV get together with APS & Nizpro they could develop something that's really special and have the Expensive Daewoo boys scratching their heads. Must be expensive tryin to get HP out of dinosaus every couple of years just to have bragin rights. my 2c worth

There has been much debate on the water injection forum that I have been visiting over in the state, about where the best place to fit the nozzle is. Some people are using the aquamist system that spray the water in a fog and have located the injector in front and and pointing at the centre of the turbine and say that there is no reported damage and that it gives the best results because its cooling the air charge at it's highest compression point. The air is cooler before it gets to the IC which lowers the air temp even more and any water that has'nt been evaporated forms inside the IC and help absorb heat . Others are playing it safe and have the injector just before to throttle body. Some fit an injector on the turbo side of the IC as well.

Welcome to the blue oval. You won't be dissappointed. Ive had mine for three months and already done some mods. The only limit that you'll find in finding performance with this engine is the wallet and gearboxes Give everyone a couple of years for developement and these things will make VL dunny cans look slow.

8:15 - 8:30 it is I'll be in a white ute
