  1. Thanks for the words of incouragement guy's Geea I can only answer some of your questions at the moment, I don't want to give to much away at this stage. 1. I can tell you that it will be the altimate cold air intake. Larger injectors needed of coarse 2. It's being started Monday hopefully finished by Friday. 3. A local rod shop is doing it. 4. No I won't have it ready for Heathcote. The car will have to be retuned first. 5. I am hoping for 300 rwkw Macka's Stage 2 Larger intercooler larger injectors again aquamist water injection I am currently speaking to people in the State about rods and pistons Auto upgrade. 400 - 500 rwkw hopefully depends on Xede capabilities. Me thinks this might be just out of it's capabilities ??? I'll talk to Lachlan Stage 3 Still is work in progress but options to date are Motec or comparable ECU Head work bigger turbo As many rwkw as possible. I want to blow them poxy VL Commies back to where they belong. Hope this answers some of your questions. I'll post pics of my cold air intake as soon as it's completed. Once it's retuned I'll be taking it to Calder. Hopefully a few of can meet up and you can gave a closer look. Macka
  2. Thanks Jeff, I'm sure you guy's will like it
  3. Hi Turb06, No the mod is to be included to my sig when completed. That will complete my phase 1 mods. No I have'nt run the car down the strip yet. Will do as soon as car is re-tuned after I get it back from the workshop macka
  4. Precious goes to the doctors on Monday to complete my first phase of mods I will post some pics when completed and eagerly wait for your response. Hope you'll all like it. Macka Oh phase 2 already being planned.
  5. The fuel filter that I wil be trying is from a diesel engine. Diesel by production process has a higher oil composition so I would presume that the filter would be be designed to handle this not suree of actual composition but I might buy one and cut it open to see what it's made of. As we are only talking miniscule amounts of oil particles mixed in the air I don't see a problem unless your motor is completely stuffed. I have'nt changed my fuel filter in my 4x4 for years. Also most cars are stationary for probably 50% of the day and I think you'll find that any oil will settle in the bottom of the filter. IMO It will be interesting to see how mick's test turn out. If it works OK it would be a cheap throw away and replace option. It's worth experimenting with.

    CAR ECU's

I have made some inquiries about a possible motec conversion. I might of mis-understood the answer, but I'm sure I was told that the motec could provide the operation of independent cam control. Would'nt that mean that the hardware is already on our motors.
  7. I'm still keen for a Sept 04 cruise as well as the Albury - Wodonga cruise Who else is keen Macka
  8. I'd be interested in going to the Borg Worner factory to tell them to get their together and build us some stronger auto's The NSW members should be able to suss out some good cruise routes to go on as well.
  9. Working on a much simpler method than that using a fuel filter from a common diesel 4x4. I will post some pics when its done. Should provide 100% filtered air recirculating back into air intake. macka
  10. I'll be there with the misses on any date. Come on people lets get things going I'm hanging out for a cruise as soon as possible. Macka
  11. She's just read the post I'm outa here  macka
  12. Seriously though, she can take a joke, she's a great chick I have got myself very interedted in this oil/fuel filter idea. If you plumbed it back to the intake side of the turbo there sould be enough suction to do the job and would be more efficient than just a catch can arrangement. I'll give the experiment to the miss's and research the result. I'll post tomorrow evening. If I had a digital camera I would take a pic of her doing it. MMMMM might be a good reason to buy one. I'll call into Harvey Norman after Supercheap macka
  13. Mick, I'll buy a oil filter and a fuel filter. Nissan 4x4 fuel filters are a solid canister. I'll get my misses to suck on it. She can suck a tennis ball through a garden hose. I'll watch how red her face goes and how much her eyes bulge to measure the restriction. I'll let you know how it turns out.
  14. Mick, If the catch can is designed properly the amount of oil would be minimul. Where only talking about condensing oil vapour from the bulit up pressures within the motor. Thewamount of oil that would be going back into the fuel tank full and mixed with 80Lt of fuel would have no effect on fuel quality. It would solve 3 problems. 1. Seperating the oil/air then keeping 2. Everything legal buy not venting to atmosphere. 3. No possible mess in the engine bay. that's how I will be diong it. PS I'm also thinking that you should be able to make one using a cheap oil filter. Just change it for a new one when it's full. The filter should trap the oil pretty well don;t you think. macka
  15. Here's another thought about were to vent the catch can. Why could it not be vented back to thefuel purge canister. any oil that goes back will be mixed with fuel vapour and eventually back to the fuel tank, a little drop of oil back there would'nt hurt. Does this make sence.
  16. Here's a pic of a greddy catch can. Shouldn't be that hard to make one like this. greddy stuff is pricey but usually top quality.
  17. That's what should happen to all Expensive Daewoo dealers car yards. :o macka
  18. Turbotrana, This was just simple example of how to go about making one for the members who would like to make their own. Depends on how good a work shop you've got at home as to what method you use to weld it up. I would prefer to make it out of Aluminium. After the catch can has done it's job you should be able to vent it back into the intake system again.
  19. Hi guy's, If you know someone handy with a welder you should be able to make a catch can pretty cheap. Here's some info you might find handy. Good work Big Mick, I'd say they should be a standard item from the tuners when they increase the boost. Of even Ford for that matter. Nearly all high performance turbo cars have them. macka DIY_Oil_Catch_Can.doc
  20. Hi TBO240, Interesting reading your nm calcs. Did some calcs from my own dyno sheet and would like to know how they compare to yours. 110 kw x 9549 / 1500 rpm =700nm 130 kw x " " / 2000 rpm = 620nm 155 kw x " " / 3000 rpm = 493nm 203 kw x " " / 4000 rpm = 485nm 238 kw x "" / 4800 rpm = 473nm These were the max power levels at current tune. There's still more in it but I have to tune on 95 Ron as that's all that's available in my area at the moment. I know it's a little of topic but I would like to know, how much and what rpm range the APS kits produce their torque as a comparison to what I've already done to my "T" If you don't want to post figures can you PM macka
  21. You can count us in. Whenever
  22. I've got to agree with you about the sound of a V8. This is my first turbocharged car and until I brought this car I would normally agreed with you 100%. I must say that the torque of the 4.0Lt six combined with the turbo is pretty close to the V8 in stock form. Put a chip in it and the V8 seems slow when the extra boost kicks in. It excelarates that fast that you really don't get time to appreciate it. Your to busy grabbing another gear. There's nothing like that turbo rush when it kicks in. The one thing that I will agree 100% with, is that their both great cars. THEIR BOTH FORDS
  23. Dutchie, Put me on you mailing list if the Sep 04 cruise falls over. It was my first time at the V8's at Winton. Even though the weather was my son and I loved it.
  24. Hi Dutchie, Which day do you plan on going. macka

    Bathurst

I was wondering if anyone from Victoria was going to Bathurst V8 Supercar race this year and would be interested in joining up and cruisin together. Macka
