We're going I've just booked for the 9/10 Oct there is only 15 rooms left so don't waste time booking macka -
daniel, Cost is in the process of being worked out. I have made some changes to the intake that have improved the looks and performance heaps and should lower costs as well. At this stage I will be going on the cruise has everyone set a firm date yet. Oct 9/10 or Oct 16/17 macka

Rubem out, Rubem out, Rubem out :cussing: Expensive Daewoo Wankers macka

Thank's Guy's for the encouragement. I've just finished re designing the intake from the shaker to the turbo and man it has produced some extra punch. It breaks traction even in 2nd gear now. Can't floor it 1st like I used to either. It really has alot more snap. OH I just filled up my car since having the shaker installed last thursday week. I'm getting 36.23 mpg. I'm pretty sure I calculated it right. 591km \ 44lt = 13.43 km/lt 13.43 km * 4.5 = 60.44 km per gallon 60.44 km * .6 = 36.26 mpg And yes the fuel gauge was showing just under 1/2 tank And I've driven the car harder than I've ever driven it and that includes all the dyno runs as well. Just love those extra kw 256rwkw @ 8psi macka

Have performance cars lost their identity?
macka'sxr6t replied to Falchoon's topic in Ford Discussion
I agree with Falchoon, to many cars look the same :banghead: That's what inspired me to do the shaker idea. To give my car an individual look. You want see many other cars like it. :banghead: Although I don't mind if other people want one as well. macka -
TBO240 you could be right but it is really quite visible the difference in fuel economy. Scotty utes have a 80lt tank with a 90lt option, which I did'nt take. As I said earlier this was the first time the car had been on the open road with the shaker installed. It is 160km from Castlemaine to where I get the car tuned on the other side of Melbourne and the fuel gauge had just decided to move of the full mark. If the car was using 10.29lt/100km I would have thought that the fuel gauge would have moved much more than that. By the time I had got back home after 340+km and 10 dyno runs at full throttle, a couple of detours and quite a few spirited squirts from stop lights with the new found power still had well over 1/2 tank of fuel left. I would really like to try it on a stock T to prove the point for those that seem to think that I'm bullsh ting. When I get the car back I'll do some real world driving tests I'm only reporting what I have seen so far. macka

Vic351, You gotta get the chip done mate that will improve your mileage and then the shaker you won't beleive the difference it will make. Pretzel, I have built a water trap into the back of the shaker scoop, as that's where I think it will collect with the ramming effect as you cruise along. And yes you guessed it there's been no rain to test this theory. It will rain one day. I will be putting a rubber seal around the scoop that seals the gap between scoop and the bonnet to keep water off the engine. At the moment I have still retained the crossover pipe which supplies boost to the engine, the intake piping has been removed. I will eventually change the other pipe aswell. Trying to keep costs down for the moment but I have some ideas that I will work on after I get the shaker sorted. I agree with you that the crossover is restrictive but so is the intercooler as well If your running standard boost the original crossover should give you enough. Most people use the original crossover and a getting some good HP and APS still retain it. If you up the boost levels that's when you see problems arising like I have. Then you start on the merry go round valve springs etc. Depends on what you want to acheive. macka

Hi guy's I'm only reporting what I see. As this is the only trip that I have had the opportunity to take the Beast on It is early days. When I get the car back I'll be doing some more research and post real world driving figures. The mileage of 7.2lt/100km was before the new injectors where installed. After they were installed on the way home the trip computer was showing 9.2lt/100km Before thew Exede was installed I was lucky to get 560km per tank. After the Exede milage improved to 700km per tank. Your wallet does'nt lie. the 9.5lt/100km used to give me 700km per tank which also included some spirited driving as one doeswhen you own a T , so if I am back to where I was before the larger injectors and have increased Kw as well something must be helping, so my guess is that it's the shaker. macka

Albury-Wondonga Joint Cruise (Vic & NSW)Oct 9/10
macka'sxr6t replied to Miss_Aly's topic in Victoria
As usual Johnny Howard has gone a made it hard for everyone And Bathurst on Sunday, Hmmm I think it would suit better, the following weekend. I'll have to think about it. It's not the election, polls open a 6am, but I don't think that I could miss Bathurst. But I don't want to miss out on the weekend either what to do :crybaby: :w00t2: -
Yes JB and Chips I had them fitted last thursday, they will take me to my target of 300rwkw, just got to get this valve flutter fixed first George when I am finally happy with the design I will then make some inquiries about emission legalities. Don't want them coppers hassling everyone who uses them The Shaker is certainly an attention grabber. macka

edo, are you running the bigger cams and how do they perform? macka
-
Hi Pretzel, Be patiant and keep your hand on your wallet just a little longer as I want to make sure everything performs as it should before I see people parting with their hard earned. Dyno results didn't show great improvements a this stage, I was'nt really expecting any first up as I new that I could design it better. Lets just say that it did'nt hurt. I have now sourced the parts that I need and I have made some major improvements to the intake from the shaker to the turbo. I have shortened it even more it now travells about 200 mm and is a lot more free flowing, which should make the car even more responsive. I would be expecting to see some HP gains this time. I will post new pics when completed. There was however 2 big improvements, that I really was'nt thinking about as I was more interested in the horsepower gains. 1st thing that is apparent is how much cooler the engine runs whilst travelling along the highway, the temp needle sits just above the 1/4 mark. 2nd and probably the most important considering the price of fuel was the drop in lt/100km. I used to get 13.5 lt/100km I then installed the Exede, which dropped it back to 9.5lt/100km. On the way to Melbourne last thursday with the shaker fitted it dropped back to 7.2lt/100km with cruise control on, a lot of the time it even went into the 6lt/100km. As you can see by these figures the shaker really comes into it's own out on the open road more so than when the car is sitting still on a dyno. At the time of tuning, the car started with 224rwkw and by the end of the session it was producing 256 rwkw at 8psi. We could'nt run anymore boost until I fit the new valve springs because of valve flutter. Once this is fixed we should be able to pull up to 300rwkw. I would like to dyno a stock car with the shaker fitted I would expect to see some good improvement. As for costs still have to sit down and work it out. The new changes should lower costs even more. I'll keep you informed. Hope this anwsers some of your questions. keep them coming and I'll do my best to anwser them macka

Thanks Chips, Might call into a autotrans joint to see what they can come up with.

What mods you planning Miss_Aly. Maybe a Shaker Scoop macka
-
Hi guy's, Now that I have my Shaker Scoop setup for the CAI I have a big area on the passanger side where the factory air box was. Do you think that this would be a good place to mount the trans cooler. I was thinking of making a box and connecting the snorkle and maybe the xr8 plastic thingy that goes under the head light to direct cold air to it. How big a trans cooler would you need? Would it fit into the factory Air box? what do you think macka
-
Rod, I'm really looking forward to it. What time do you normally assemble? And where? When I come down I could meet you at the front gate. macka
-
Hi Rod, Can't make it this Friday, doing some more mods to the shaker scoop and got to change valve springs. I will be a definite starter next time. It might take a couple of trys to get down to Big Mick and Geea times but I'm keen to give it ago, just want to tie up some loss ends first. I see on the list that there's no T's that's a shame macka
-
I'm Still keen. Where are we going to meet up? What time is everyone going to meet? Don't forget that I have to come from Castlemaine. Are we going to pay at the gate or pre book? macka
-
WOW!!! This has all gone of topic pretty quick. I started out just wanting to know how much is a fair price to pay someone to install a full set of valve springs. I was asked what sort I was using and because I used the word Nizpro you all go nuts. If I choose to use their valve springs that's my business. If others want to use XR8 ones fine by me, at the end of the day what's fifty dollars in the scheme of things. As for best bang for you buck I'm pretty happy with my 280 rwkw for $3700. All I need now is a larger intercooler and I'll set for over 300 rwkw. Anyway each to their own and happy modding macka
-
What Victorian drivers are left that are any good. It's obvious that you need to live where the team is based to be successful
-
I'm sure that Nizpro would have used XR8 ones if they were suitable, other wise why would you go top the trouble and expence of developing other valve springs. My guess is if you check camshaft lift and rocker ratios you may will find that the XR6turbo and the V8 would be different. The coil windings would also be different. You would have to measure the gap between the coils when both springs are compressed at maximum lift. If the coils touch or bind it is not a good thing. Xr8 valve springs are also designed for N/A vehicles. Valve back pressure in turbo cars would be significantly higher I would think coil rebound would have to be different. I might be wrong but it's my opnion anyway. If the Techies can shoot me down go for it. macka

Hi Daniel, It's a pity you could'nt make it I was taking people for rides in the ute and they all loved it. As for extra Kw it's hard to say as my car was already producing good power. The shaker would perform better whilst on the road where you get the ramming effect. I can also tell you and the others that went for a ride will verify that the is vitually no lag. I would like to dyno it on a stock T with a before and after graph, to see what benefits it could make. Mine is too far past stock to change it back. Two things that I did notice straight away was the fuel economy inproved by 2 lt/100km. Whilst cruising along at 105km the computer was showing 7.2 lt/100 km. Down from 9.5lt/100km. The engine temp was also a lot cooler. Don't know the exact temp drop but it was about 2 needle widths above the 1/4 mark on the temp gauge. It used to run about 2 needle widths below the halfway mark. Hope this gives you some info that you are after. macka
-
Full set of 24 They are from Nizpro. I have heard of people using XR8 one's but decided to go for ones that have been developed specifically for the XR6 turbo macka

Thanks guy's, Already have valve springs, just been down to local Ford dealer and he reckons they can do them for no more than $350. Seems a good price. I was thinking of doing them myself, but for that price do you think it would be worth the hassle of doing it yourself. macka
