  1. What a great day. Got home at 4.45pm. I feel sorry for you guy's that live in melbourne. I get an extra 3-4 hrs cruisin everytime I come down. Great to met up with everyone and meet and chat to new people with a common interest. It was a great selection of the entire Ford range. Looking forward to the next cruise. macka
  2. I checked this mob out earlier in the year. After seeing it on their website fitted to the XR8 and talking to them about costs and how it works. I decided that they would be no advantage to the turbo. So I designed my shaker intake exclusively for the turbo. macka
  3. Don't bet on it. He's still drivin a Holden.
  4. Yep Vic351, seen a lot of shaker xr6turbo's drivin around lately. The problem with the shaker is its a bit like a white pointer, you only see what's on the surface. Not what's under the bonnet macka
  5. I have just finished my intake piping mod to go with my shaker intake. It is ready now for my custom made intercooler. Nothing wrong with APS products but I'm glad that I'm doing my own thing. My Hp will rate with the best of them and will look a lot better than most. That is the good thing about these cars there is so many ways to get them to perform well. macka
  6. Sounds great guy's, What about a spot for the most original mods (ideas) macka
  7. Good to here it shorttyxr6, Now you will be able to have a look at my shaker. macka
  8. Sounds awesome xarh6urbo, :banghead: which chip did you go for. Xede or TSI macka
  9. Sorry Scott, No excusses for my bad behavior :bopp:: Must have been my PMCT (Pre Monthly Cruise Tension) :banghead: macka
  10. If only we were all as smart as Scotty, You must be lucky to be so intelligent that you've never asked a dumb or obvious question. These were a couple of questions that people with little mechanical knowledge would be thinking and probably unwilling to ask. Scotties attempt at a witty yet uninformative answer is why you only see posts from the same people. No need for this forum anymore Scotty knows all so please direct all questions to ktford. PS. Don't expect a reply with any useful content though. macka
  11. Your right Dutchie, You only have to look at the number of people that have comitted to the Joint Albury VIC - NSW cruise, its not many from the two largest states in the country. Don't get me wrong I'm not having a go at anyone here personally. Its just that it seems to be the same names on the list every time. Anyway I'm looking forward to catching up withyou all again Sunday. macka
  12. Hi Dingah, It was through our discussions that I decided that something was'nt quite right and to get a second OP. Thanks mate Goldie On the subject of heavier valve springs is there any timing issues with the camshafts? Will it run the same as before they were changed? eg throw timing out Will I need to retune the car? Is there any issues with the cams or lifters wearing with the higher spring pressures? macka
  13. I believe that your ford dealer can do it but your car number that is stored in the computer is removed and your car will know longer exsist on their records and of coarse you will lose all warranties. Cannot confirm this its just what I've heard. If your taking it overseas might not worry you You would think that there have to be some kind of sensor that sinds signal from gearbox, have you tried to remove the sensor if it has one or speedo cable. I believe this is how APS did it.
  14. Tom, I'm very happy with the result at the moment especially the shaker. There's no doubt that it's made a difference to the vehicle I've put larger injectors in valve springs are going in soon. I should be able to up the boost then macka
  15. Tom, The problem was actually in the fuel map. It was all over the place way too lean in some spots to much fuel in others. They had a A/F meter on it will during the dyno runs and basically altered the map and tune to the A/F meter. Still needs a bit more work in the mid range but the car is much stronger all round. He picked up 30 rwkw over the entire range and the tune is much safer. He also reckons he can get more without changing boost or timing. I think I'll get him to up the boost as well only running 8 psi I'll be going back in a couple of weeks to finish the job then call into Calder on the way home. Oh I did a economy check today since the tune and it's back to 28 mpg. I think that that's a bit more realistic for the power output don't you. macka
  16. I'll try and take your advise and stay under mach 1. On private roads of coarse The question is where do I find one macka
  17. Grass, The extra 30 kw came from tuning the thing properly it was way to lean which would explain why I was getting 36 mpg as well. Lost economy gained more power. macka
  18. Not trying to be negative here Macka but wind chill is something that is only relevant to people! To an engine it means jack... Sorry, the laws of thermodynamics aren't flexible at present. God666, no negativity taken If you are right and there is no wind chill factor in regards to an engine. Why is then that if you have a metal rod in a car and it absorbs the ambient air temp in side the car, you then wind down your window whilst the car is in motion and hold the same rod outside the window for a couple of minutes, you then bring it back inside and feel it. It is colder than before. What has made it colder? As the air already has a certain amount of humitity or moisture does this not then provide the water content that starts the evapouration process. Which produces the wind chill factor. I'm no thermophysist can't even spell it properly but I do know that most things becomes colder when exposed to wind. And the higher the wind velocity the cold they become macka
  19. Hi Dutchie, I like it the mackshuttle is even going harder since you went for a spin macka
  20. Thanks 1axr, Please be patient there is still some issues that I need to work out. Production costs etc. macka
  21. It does'nt actually cool the air it uses ambient outside air temp plus the wind chill factor macka
  22. Should have a figure by the end of the week macka
  23. Tom, I think you missed the point about the exhaust, it was probably the way I worded it. What I was trying say is that we go to so much trouble to tune the cars just to horsepower that we over look the entire package. (bragging right mines bigger than yours sort of stuff.) I think that from know on I'll look at from this point of veiw. What boost is it that I want to run eg 18 psi. Then design the hole package including exhaust around that. The exhaust would be designed and tuned around the boost level and you particular car and should produce a better out come. We all seem to just go HP hunting and continually change things that may not need to be changed in a balanced approach I might be wrong. macka
  24. OK guy's these are the one I like so far. A couple that I've thought of Direct Hi-Flow Induction. Cold Air Inductions (CIA Inductions) Mr T Inductions macka
  25. I would also think that in the ideal situation for the maximum performance and air flow. You would need to design an exhaust system to match your boost level. ie if you want to run 15 psi that ideally you would want the exhaust back pressure to be 15 psi in other words equal pressure. Then there would be no need to change valve springs the factory one would be sufficient. So what I'm basically trying to say is that it has been proven that you can produce power from a car by tuning it individually. Then to maximise this power you need to sit down and work out what boost you want to run and then design a exhaust system to match that boost. Although this is not a practical exersize on a commercial basis it is the only way to my thinking that you can produce the most maximum efficient power at a certain boost level. macka
