I have a couple of choices. Preston Auto's are one and the other is the guy who builds Rachael Splatts transmittions for her Rail Dragster. He is keen to have a look at the BA Auto. I had a chat with him over the phone. Builds some pretty tough transmittions for drag cars and such. macka

if he did I would'nt have a XR6 turbo. GTP would have been my choose macka

Before I increase the power level that's foresure macka

I doubt that Ford will increase power outputs. With all the media attention these rice boy's are attracting with illegal drag racing. Last thing Ford would want is to get the media on it's back with the XR6 Turbo's ect being caught up in it. I would'nt be suprised if they and Expensive Daewoo are'nt coping some heat from the Pollies and doo gooders anyway my 2c worth anyway macka

As most are aware I've had a little Auto transmittion problem lately. well lets say for the past 5 moths anyway. I was talking to my dealer the other day while in the local IGA. He asked me how the car was going with the new tranny that he replaced in Feb this year. I said to him that "Do you really want to know". He replied "Yeh if your not happy you should bring it back in". I told him that I would if I could . He gave me a funny look of WTF are you on about. I said if you really want to know, I've done the same thing as before. Only have drive in 1st and 2nd gear. He just said "your kidding are'nt you, that's 4 in 12 months". "No" was my reply. I then told him that I had taken the EMS off and fitted the standard injectors back into the motor and the that the car was back to stock except for my Shaker induction. He said if you can drive it in Tuesday (yesterday) that he would have a look at it and see what he could do. 4 pm yesterday he rang me to say that a new tranny was on its way . I could'nt get over it as I never even asked for one, as I was in the process of organising to have it fixed and modded in Melbourne. to say I was wrapped is an understatement. The only condition he implied was that I do not refit the EMS. I said, "No problem, I'm changing over to the Edit anyway" He just gave me one of those, OH NO!!!. Here we go again looks and smiled. macka

Finally found their Website. Only thing I could find about engine managment was a Unichip macka

Glad I read this just before paid my money over for the CAPA Edit. I might wait another week or so to see what happens. macka

We are looking for real figures not what your dash readout says, especially once you have modded any part of the cars fuel/air system Scotty <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've given mine, I don't drive mine like a baby either. 4 transmittions in 12 months. would have to be a record I reackon and still get over 700km per tank. But hey, I'm away with the fairies according to one. NAFA macka

Poll started look forward to hear feedback macka

To keep the Economy for people using the Edit tuning software on topic I have started this poll, to get some kind of feedback from you on whether your happy with it. Add any comments or info you like. The Edit has been out for a while now and there is still not alot known about it. macka

Good to hear from you Mate Look forward to hearing the results from the Edit when you get it done. macka

Maybe I should start a poll Has your mileage improved since the edit Still the same Worse off. macka

No confusion here Don't live in a City so I cannot help you on that one. Never had over 580km out of the stock PCM, then again the T had only travelled 3000km before I started modding it. Now its back to stock after 24000km, I bet I still won't get much more than 580km out of it. How many other people who do a lot of hwy cruising in their Ute achieve 600+ km I'd like to here from them. Next you'll be telling me that my speedo readings are out. macka
-
Thanks Shifty, this is more of the feedback that I was after, macka
-
Maybe you had better fit a Shaker Scoop to your bonnet. Anyway believe what you like I have witnesses. Not looking forward to going back to 580km/tank now the car is stock again. macka

No dash readings actual fuel usage. Set the mileage to zero fill the tank and drive till is says its empty. refill the tank and check mileage travelled. Try these distances from cruises. Get out your map and work it out if you like. Fill up at Castlemaine. Castlemaine to Melbourne meet forum members. Travel to Albury, Blown Ba can confirm cruise speed. Drive across to Rutherglen. leave Rutherglen travell to Yarrawonga, Sheperton then back to Castlemaine. No refuel till I return to Castlemaine. Another trip from Castlemaine to Sydney. Distance travelled before refill Castlemaine to Goulbourne. Via Violet Town then up the Hume You do the maths Plenty of other trips need I go on. Fantasy I don't think so. macka

Now that my car is back in it's standard trim, I'll be able to directly compare it from what I was achieving before with a piggyback, to now stock, and in the future with the Edit. results will be interesting IMOP macka

It concerns me more that the only time you reply in any of my posts it is to attack me. I have never stated in any post that a stock fuel system can deliver 330 rwkw. As far as the 9.5l/100km claim goes. You have never filled my car up or been on a cruise in it, so I don't really care what you think. I have plenty of witness from this forum who have seen it during cruises. As far as the sweeping statements, where are they. I have only posted what and how I understand the product to work. If I am wrong enlighten both me and the members instead of attacks. If now body asks questions about the product how are we supposed to find out. You certainly don't offer much technical enhancement to this forum. macka

Very serious I've had more power and economy than a standard T before. I would like to think that the Edit could provide the same. And was after input from the members who have had Edit. Johnny Howard already gets enough tax without filling his greedy pockets with extra fuel excise. macka
-
I thought that an A/F ratio of 11.8 approx was considered to be a optimum yet safe A/F ratio. I doubt very much that a standard T would be running anywhere near a A/F ratio like that With the Edit you should be able to demand it I thought. macka
-
Tht's my point to Scotty It's all very well to have 280 rwkw but at what cost to the backa pocket. Might not have been an issue when Premium was around $1 - $1.10 a litre. But fuel is going to only get more expensive. And these cars know how to swallow it. At a $100 + to refill an empty tank it has to be a consideration. If the Edit cannot achieve economy as well as performance I'll just keep my piggyback in the cupboard for now. macka

Macka, your right, although its the maps in the PCM Edit that determine the A/F ratio, once out of closed loop. It is the maps that's determine throttle/timing/injector/boost etc. that's where the custom tune comes in. I mentioned this to Rob at HPF when I got my edit. I made him aware that I was after economy every bit as much as I wanted more power. Satisfied I got both. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If your only acheiving the same mileage as a stock T, I would'nt consider this a good result. Back when I was running the Xede with standard injectors and running 8 psi of boost I gained 55 rwkw. 183 - 238 rwkw and went from 580 km per tank to 760 km per tank. I would expect that the PCM to be able to achieve the same outcome in economy. It certainly produces the same level of power. They say these cars a running very rich from the factory, so running a leaner A/F ratio should gain an increase in economy and power using the same amount of boost in closed loop. I fully understand that once you plant your right foot most of this goes out the window. I do see this as an area where the piggyback has the advantage for the moment anyway. macka

450 km out of a 80Lt tank of fuel does not sound good. I have never had this low mileage reading when I was using the Xede or EMS. They developed both Hp and economy increase over the stock factory PCM tune. It might be early to make assumptions but I thought this might be the case. With everyone obsessed with HP. With the piggy back you could acheive both to a certain point. And is one thing that concerns me about the Edit. Simon from Nizpro has stated that economy is not good at the moment. Don't get me wrong I will be using the Edit but I will be asking the tuner to work on fuel economy tuning more so than outright power. Been there and broke to many things I will only be running a tune with 8 psi max boost. I might not fully understand how the Edit works at the moment. The way I understood it, I thought that if you demanded a certain A/F ratio then the PCM would alter fuel flow and timing to acheive this demand in the software. macka

Guy's I was wondering if people that have purchased the EDIT have seen an increase in fuel economy. It would be interesting see who have the best fuel economy. The members who had a custom tune. Or the members who have used the generic tune that comes from CAPA. And how much of an improvement it is from the stock tune. I know that when I was using the piggy backs I was getting 760km from a full tank of fuel in my Ute, compared to 580km when the Ute was stock. It will be interesting to see how the EDIT compares to piggybacks in this area. The Tuners seem to be getting the results with HP. I've not seen or heard any mention about economy results. With the price of premium fuel rising, this is as important as power. macka
