  1. I would have felt it if I had valve float, the car was stronger then it ever has right up untill the blowup, its 2 and 4 with follow each other. valves are good except one where a bit of metel got under it before I shut. no even the top of the broken ones still looked like it had been driving around town, I just think it came to the limit of the load the stock pistons could cope with, all other rods are straight and all pistons and rings look sweet, David
  2. yeh that is it, tried another 50hp, to try an run a 9.7ish at 140+on saturday, but she only made it just after half track. David
  3. his car has a 9psi actuator, standed flap, waste gate hole tidied up with the die grinder to make sure it does not over boost. what he ment by stock turbo, is stock size, and no mods to compressor or turbine housing to make the turbo flow more, that might be his next mod, if he wants to run tens on 98 fuel. David
  4. if you end up down here, I can through the laptop in for a run, and see what it is doing. David
  5. she looked like I hit the transbrake off the mark, but that was just the hand and foot brake. I was just thinking, if anyone doubted it was a stock motor, those bits should prove to all it was just our humble little BA clunker. David
  6. mate when you have your fuel system in, set your reg to 80psi, (that is the presure you need at 20psi in these)undo your return, and see how much fuel is returning,(this is how much fuel supply you have for your motor underpower) those pumps are rated hi volume, but at 80psi, they drop back to about half the flow.I found the 625 pro tuner was good for about 420rwksin these, put two 044's on and dubled the flow of the 625. do the test as soon as you can so you can get your money back. David
  7. I saw that, I don't know, it might be just the sun on it, or that I had not uped the car since the last meet, and might have been a bit of surface rust in the exhaust, she was normal all the rest of the run, untill that ugly blue stuff came out, so I am only guessing. David
  8. Take my word, very hard to keep them together at 800engine hp. David
  9. I have not pulled it out of my car yet, will do tomorow. it would have done well to get out of the road though. David
  10. that is right, it has only pulled it out because it needed to, but when they do, they pull to much out.
  11. yes, she pulls hard, not near detination, so you get all the timing that is in the tune.
  12. yeh two and four, they were my best to cylinders to, they must have been carring the other guy's a bit too much I think. one of the bits, flew out and cut into my new braided fuel line, lucky it was the return, or the video might have been very impressive. David
  13. some times its best to run a ten the easy way, and then you know what to do, then can always go back and try again, they can run a ten, on pump fuel, but it is a good drive, everything has to be right. sometimes the dyno's don't translate to the track, you will find it different though with 110, from the first run you will feel the difference. David
  14. [attac hment=46949:IMGP7043.JPG]Some are hard to see, and one is looking from one side of the motor through to the other side.
  15. Just had a look at my motor, seven different holes in it. David
  16. Yeh had to much presure in the rear tyres for the temp, so it would have increased to much after the burnout, to get it running consistent 1.3 60fters, I am going to have to monitor things a lot more closely, might have to start writing it all down so I adjust more presicely, also might be time to move away from the stock suspenion, and put 90/10's in the front. I left the line at 8.5 psi that time, but she only done a 1.44 60ft, a bit more grip, and she will do better then that. I adjusted up the hand brake during the week, and it worked a treat, did not move untill I let it go. might have to ring 6Boost about his cromolly tail shafts, before it gives up to. well done to you and your Kenny Bell xrmate got your car on video and Nathens F6's ten sec runs, you always do a good burnout. my burnout was a bit slack I no, but I knew I was at the end of what that motor was going to cope with so I was looking after it. David
  17. Well done, there catching up quick to the BF's, once all the gear is on it, she should knock them off. David
  18. I think the 10.51 was the quickest from memory, the 10.4 had tolulene as a octane boost in it, although it was dynoed on 98, but it did have toly in when it raced. I have a video, and a bag full of bits they got off the track, I will see if I can download it. I don't think they minded cleaning the strip up, the car has given them a lot of good runs and has brought them a lot of cars to. the F6 has all his mods in his own topic, but there just the normal stock turbo with actuator, process west gear, xfoce exhaust.(Grizly) David
  19. yeh, it was a day meet, so was not that cool, maybe 28c. track was good, and 75 entrants. David
  20. Yes, I think I found and exceeded the limit of a BA motor, the car had 2 more psi, and about 50hp extra, (I would expect 800 engine hp) she left a bit untidy but still with a 1.4 60ft, she was quicker at the 660ft mark, and up by 2mph, felt like it was still loving it. then all went pear shaped, clunks and bangs were coming out of it everywhere, looks like 2 and 3 came out each side. she still idles but sounds a bit tougher without the other 2 cylinders. good info for my new engine though, because it feel real good for the first part of the track, nearly 112mph in 200 meters is sets up a good finish. I was thinking of putting a BF motor in and see what it can do, but the way she blew, I think it might have been the pistons that let go, before the rods, I feel I would have got a drop in power for a bit as they bent if it was a few rods bending. imo. time to get some grunt out of this car. there was also a lot of PBs for other cars to Nathens BF F6 (stock auto) (stock motor)ran 10.95, @127.7, 10.98 @127.3, 10.95 @ 127.4. M selby BA xr6 (stock auto) stock motor with valve springs, ran 11.3 @126mph BClarke BF GT Ken Bell supercharged (stock auto stock motor) ran 10.94 @127mph D Anderson BA xr8 Ken Bell supercharged (stock auto, stock motor) ran 11.2 @122mph Joal xr6 t BA (stock motor and auto) 12.0 122mph John BA xt with stock NA auto but with a stock BA xr6turbo motor ran 11.95 at 121mph on old nangkangs. shane first time with his car, ran 12.5 at 118mph on street tyres Tony from PRE, ran a pb xr6tstock motor and auto, not sure of his best but I saw a 11.6. David
  21. yeh giving it another lap, see if she snaps. David
  22. Good luck with it, hope she hooks up, if not just keep coming down here for saturday street challenge, gates open at 11.00 am. David
