  2. I dont have any tools etc , not even a garage . For $150 im getting everything cleaned and installed . I know its more hardcore to work on your car yourslef but im just too lazy/busy Its literally double the price for Dba but im guessing you dont get double the value. Apparently the Rdx pads are the premium pads for Rda Rotors , according to what I was told. I appreciate the helpful advice from everyone -- I basically saved myself $400-$500 today by getting quick responses from everyone and still getting decent new rotors/pads Thanks everyone
  3. Just found out my rotors are 325mm . I have the premium brake package with PBR Calipers , the rotors in that Ebay ad are too small. I just got a quote of $400 for 325mm Rda Rotors and Rdx pads . Im going ahead with that I think. Apparently you pay a lot for the name with Dba which are similar to Rda , according to the owner of a Brake shop in Fawkner I just spoke to .
  4. to be honest it was me niggling him , it initially wasnt an option but I wore him down .. lol
  5. ok thanx stiflr
  6. pretty sure the hub was cleaned . thanks for that link. theres so many cheap rotors on ebay for an xr6t my heads in a spin. I found these , they look okay too . http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/504-CURVED-SLOTTED-ROTORS-FRONT-FORD-BA-XR6-XR8-XR6T-/140764577177?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20c638fd99
  7. $900 was my quote inc cleaning , labour , new rotors and pads up front. If anyone can point me in the direction/link of a good deal , would be appreciated. I dont even know where to start and tomoz is my deadline .
  8. haha.. what gets me is I basically only use this car to just drive to work and back. Malvern to Altona 5 days a week . Im not hard on the brakes and the shudder is still present . Wonder if I can upgrade the diameter .
  9. yep bushes are all fine - everything under car is good - im not sure re diameter, car is at mechanics atm , some idea in pic
  10. Hi , I have an Auto 04 Ba Xr6T with 160k and premium brakes. Rotors were machined about 10-15k ago and shudder has returned . I have Pbr Calipers and slotted rotors to match . Its $100 to remachine them but they will be underspec at 29.5 ish mm , falling just shy of the 30mm legal mark. Other option is $900 for new slotted rotors and new pads. I have by tomoz to give an answer but im not sure what to do. Anyone have any sugguestions ? Is there a foolproof way to fix this annoying brake shudder or a rotor that is shudder prrof ? shudder is annoying me ! im aware this is a well debated topic, I read 4 pages and everyone seems to disagree ...
  11. For well over a year my 04 XR6T has had occasional misfiring and power loss "fluttering" when accelerating hard ... annoying part is that its totally unpredictable , most days it does not do it , and those "good" days it has have ALWAYS been when ive dropped it off to a performance garage to get it checked ! (damn thing) , usually involving me catching POOblic transport home and no car for days. Finally had enough and today when it was misfiring, I took it to DYnomotive and they told me it needs a set of 6 new coils , they said it was an obvious fix, (had all spark plugs changed last week by them) After all this time and headache I cant believe out of all the other people who looked at it, nobody even sugguested it might be the coils. I bought the coils today from ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/170742879770?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 , way cheaper than bursons and apparantly better quality.
  12. Thanks boys , much appreciated . stealth mode.. lol
  13. I keep getting this tiny circle with what looks mostly like an "s" inside it.... every now and then it makes a beeping noise ... it took me MONTHS to work out to deactivate it...I pull up on the little paddle underneath the cruise cntrl on the left , which sits in the sterring wheel. Does it mean my car needs a service ? or something else ?

  15. My car has been looked after and it has a low down useable torquey tune , ive already rebuilt the auto anall I ve is a turbo flutter to sort out and its mint. All services up to date, if anything its been overserviced
  16. This company is definately not lacking for work and im not one to ignore good advice , better to be cautious that keep dishing out endless wads of $ on this car even though I love it. Thanks for all the advice everyone... Much appreciated :-)
  17. true true I agree whole heartedly
  18. Today I called one of the top Performance garages in Melbourne to enquire about getting my car up to around the 300rwkw mark. I told him I have a BA , and he said that the Conrods are extremely dodgy in Ba's over the 120-150 k mark and that he wont do work like this on them anymore because the last one he had on the dyno blew thru the bottom of the engine dumping oil everywhere and he had to pay the owner of the car to fix it. and apparently it was a stock BA ! I was really surprised at his decline to an easy 3-4 thousand $ from me but it makes me think he would not say that if it were not true... sigh
  19. The car basically stops accelerating whenever the turbo flutter is present , it struggles a lot and as for the coils I havent changed them and unless they are done when you get a tune they are probably unchanged. So maybe coils you reackon ?
  20. Im trying to educate myself about my XR and recently found out about Scan Tools to data log engine management etc .. Are there any good apps on the iphone that do that ? Should I get one from Ford or who has the best reputation for this hardware ? I have a problem with Turbo flutter and loss of power when it happens and I want to try and diagnose it with a Scan Tool so I can take it to a Performance garage because the prob only exists every now and then and the times ive booked it into a garage it hasnt done it ! ,.. of course ... sheeesz
  21. I have a BA XR6T with a tune and cold air intake (235 rwkw) . When I nail it and the turbo kicks in , sometimes I hear what I can only describe as a turbo "flutter" , and it is always accompanied by a loss in power , it just levels out and stops accelerating. The weird thing about it is it might not happen for 2 weeks , but when I notice it on a particular day it is like that all day . My spark plugs were changed a few months ago with the tune. Any ideas anyone ??
  22. thanks buddy :-)
  23. Its impressive that you were able to narrow the problem down to the exact cause when everyone else got it wrong , including the foreman at Jeff Ford . Its like I just hosted a game of "survivor" with 3 top mechanics in Melbourne , and you won ! :] I can see why you get such good feedback from customers.
  24. Mick ? Yep you were right mate. I just tried to edit my post to include Mick @ Pitt Lane for the diagnosis but it wont let me . I tried calling you today actually because I wanted to tell you what happened. Im also keen to upgrade the XR6T performance wise now so I also want to discuss that with you and get it done at Pitt Lane. Im thinking Cat back/Valve springs and Injectors and even maybe Jtg Gas.
  25. Hi all , im posting now to explain ive finally fixed the ' so called diff clunk ' ! , (which had zero to do with the diff or bushes ). What a frustrating journey! ,after mAny posts on this same topic asking for help ,and taking the caR TO 2 reputable performance garages and a Ford Dealer , and everyone throwing in their two cents to help , it turns out the annoying THUMP under the car ,which occured when the auto shifted down a couple of gears , is the result of a previous owner meddling with the Auto. The valve body and solonoids were replaced and now the Thump is gone . Andrew at Preston Autos and differentials in Preston resolved the issue and fixed it. If anyone in Melbourne needs work done on their auto or diff, I would highly recommend Andrew. He is honest, professional and charges much less than other places . He also built the BA Clinic cars auto that did under 9 secs at the 1/4 mile also. I was at the point of selling the car because the THUMP annoyed me that much , and thanks to him I dont have to, such a pleasure to drive now :-)
