  1. Really? JL audio's use to be up there in terms of quality!
  2. Too aggressive of a fitment for my new suspension set up otherwise I would have jumped on them Also does anyone have any pictures of a 275/30 on a 20x10 rim? How does it ride like?
  3. Thanks for working that out mate and I guess that extra few mm in rolling diameter will bring the tyre closer to the control blade then hey! Hmm so with a 275/30 I should almost certainly be safe but any other measurements will be really close. Thanks!
  4. I just remembered I have some 6" Type S's in the shed that I had in my Dad's ute when I drove that around on my P's so I'll save some coin and they can go in the rear doors. Im not going ahead with this any time soon because car needs to be lowered and is getting gauges first, just wanted a starting point from what people use in these cars because there is a million review online. Type R's are probably the go so far but even at 110rms is excessive but I imagine their clarity is pretty good! Might have to go to a car audio shop and have a listen, I guess that's the easiest way to make a comparison because some of the brands mentioned so far are a bit out of my price range. Also whats people's view on Kicker, JL audio and the like in the mid-range category?
  5. Thanks for the input so far guys. That $500(ISH) is moreso for speakers and a small amp to run them. Cables will be budgeted for spearately. As for sound deadening, I dunno if I can justify it? I certainly see the benefits for it but given how much it would cost and the extra effort involved I don't see it as being worth it. My BA had an alright system and I didn't have too many issues with no sound deadening and I've seen mates run DB comps with dynamatted everything and I don't think its worth what it costs. So do people agree changing the back speakers is not worth it? Or just some cheapish speakers and power them from the ICC only and just run the amp to the front speakers?
  6. I think it needs a bit of low but they look good! (I want these!!) Were they new or second hand at that price?
  7. A Very true! My trip computer is a bit optimistic lol. anywhere between .5-1.0L/100kms better than what I actually get lol. Still better than my old NA so still cheering!
  8. They look like vertini magics! Care to share the link to ebay?? But given that's the aspect ratio isn't it a percentage of the width. So a 285/30 would almost have the same size wall as a 275/35 given that the wall on the first tyre is 30% of 285 and wall of second is 35% of 275? I realise the 275/35 would be bigger but ever so slightly (can't be effed to do the math lol)
  9. Hey guys so looking at upgrading my sound system in my FG sedan. I've got a big amp and couple of 12" subs lying around from my old car which will prob go in but biggest concern is what speakers are people using and hows the quality. I had sony 6 inch splits in my BA and was surprised by how good they actually were. Basically what speakers have you used front and rear aswell as amp to run them all? Thinking optimistically I'd like to get all this stuff for around the $500 mark so roughly brands around this price Thanks guys
  10. Yea I've done my rims with plastidip. 2 can's did the job pretty well. I was getting bored with my rims but couldnt afford new ones so plasti dip it was lol. Its a spray on rubber that can be peeled off later
  11. PW is slightly bigger and has been developed with the PWR on the market (dare say they used it as a test to beat otherwise not much point being worse than the only competitor). And we all know the reputation of the PW kits currently available. Wait for the proper testing to be done if need be but I wouldn't hesitate going the PW over the PWR
  12. Hardest part about waking up in the morning, do I wanna drive my F6 or GT-P lol! Well done mate 2 amazing cars!
  13. Yea that's Insane's car in my post on sssl and ssssl. By the looks of it he runs 19" Hiro's with that combo alright
  14. Okay thanks! I think I might actually go with a 275 just because looking at prices for wide tyres I don't think I can afford them as a uni student lol. I should be fairly safe with a 275/35r20 (Falken 452 more specifically) do you reckon? Does anyone know how much stretch that'll give cause not the biggest fan of a lot of stretch Note this is how low my car will be. (pic courtesy of 1NSANE, hope he doesn't mind)
  15. Just spent the last 3 hours trying to read this thread lol but can't really find what I want. I'm just about to lower my FG sedan on sssl front and ssssl rear. Next stage will be new rims - looking at 20x8.5 and 20x10. Now wondering what tyres and offset I can use to keep the tyre inside the guards (because at the new height I can't imagine a flush fitment will work too well) and I don't want to run negative camber. From what I've read I could probably go with a +30 on the front with a 245/35 and probably +40 on the rear with either a 285/30 or a 275/35. (I can custom choose my offset up to 42) Now Im 90% sure this will fit on standard heights or slightly lowered but will this work using the springs Im putting in? I know I won't get much out of it but probably would pump the guards to avoid using negative camber because I really can't afford big tyres scrubbing out on the inside Cheers
  16. It seems as though where you live has more of a factor in your premium than what your age is nowadays. My insurance is in the country so that's probably why its not too bad, plus I have heard of suburbs even making a difference to premiums.
  17. Caswell will do a group buy just depends how many cans as to the discount (note that might only have a dozen cans of a colour in stock so consider that too). When I was looking at getting some they were willing to discount for larger purchases (I think 6 or more will get a decent discount), may have to get posted to one place though and then that person posts out to everyone individually

They're both yours lol. It is a myth though that you need to take it easy to start that's all. And yes you don't but I do lol

My old man's GT spent a couple of days on a dyno at Herrod straight from factory, there's no problem giving them a boot from the word go. ^^^ BA has weak rods, the bottom end just won't handle that kind of power. Either drop a BFII onwards motor into it or just go all out with a 698 Atomic lol
  20. This isn't vinyl wrapped its plasti-dipped
  21. Nitro's a cold gas as opposed to air and won't heat up like air when you do a burnout. Im pretty sure nitro was just designed for road cars to keep the tyre's cooler and reduce tyre wear for your average joe blow
  22. Good choice! Jump onto the plastidip thread, the boys are organising a group buy at the moment so you'll get a decent discount!

Turn off the traction control and put your foot to the floor! Coming from an Au Fairmont you won't know what hit you lol
  24. Im up in Watson and occasionally head out to belco area. Black FG T with black wheels and NSW plates, pretty hard to miss lol. I'll keep an eye out But you won't catch me dead seeing you at 7am haha. Definitely plus 1 for the ACT cruise, even if its just like a meet or something one night
  25. Oh yea I get what you mean. Yea 15 coats (probably more actually lol). I just remember the tutorial saying do real light coats and it doesn't really spray as a fine mist (I guess that's expected given it is rubber compound), so I thought the lighter the better. In hindsight I could have gone thicker on the first few and lighter on the last few. It came out good and I had the wheels off to paint the calipers and hubs so not time lost waiting for coats to dry lol
