  1. Pretty sure you have to take the mechatronics from your car and put in the built box, that might be your issue
  2. No they didn't use lifeguard because the box was flushed with GW syntrans so it was topped up with that
  3. I don't mind my nexen n'fera su1 roughly the same price bracket, but give the achilles a go at that price, worst case just do skids for a few months and change lol

  5. Private for sure. When I went to sell my BA xr6 to get my FG they wouldn't give more than $7500 at a dealer, and going off carsales I looked at getting $11-12k. My ideal turbo came up and so bought it and had to sell the BA quick, put $10k on it and got it within a month. Was pretty luck in some regard but even at $8-9k I would have sold privately and within a week.
  6. Some tuners charge half their tune rate for retunes, others charge per hour.
  7. What's the factory stall? It happens somewhere between 1500-2000rpm and then only and in no other rev range, making me think it could be converter related. What about the fact that it only does it when cold? Should that be making any difference? Obviously this trans shop should be able to find out next week but bit of anxious wait

  9. Rota's come in all kinds of sizes and offsets. If you want maximum tyre I would go 19x8.5 +25 up front and 19x9.5+38 rear. But rota's being jap wheels come in much more aggressive offsets but that means tyre stretch
  10. Any idea of what the symptoms were on the converter failing? Or what the cause was?
  11. What would be the effect of wrapping an entire exhaust? May be buying a full system heat wrapped from dump to last muffler? Going off what people are saying all the heat would be built up in the mufflers (I assume they aren't wrapped) and could stuff them?
  12. Yea but we get down to -5c here and the car hates early morning and late night starts lol Booked the car in for next wednesday. Without seeing it they think either an oil related issue or converter issue. Never heard of problems with converters so hopefully its not that Cheers for the input guys
  13. Cooler isn't that big and last service it wasn't filled up based on L, but supposedly the correct fill method. Lines should be big enough, its the kit my tuner uses on all their falcons Sounds like I'm going to have to get the oil level check again!
  14. Got an 08 FG XR6T with 109,000kms, zf was serviced at 92,000 with GW syntrans. Also installed external trans cooler to bypass the heatexchanger After the service the box started flaring when cold. Took it to another auto shop who said the box was 500ml low on oil so they topped it up. Seemed to be all good and no longer have a flare, but over the last few months have noticed the 2nd to 3rd shift isn't instant. It goes to shift and the revs drop just a little, they float there, then you feel the box make the shift and they drop again. Does this in auto, drive, P, but only at low to mid revs, anything over 4k and its fine Further, the car has more recently developed this other issue. Generally when cold, but sometimes when warm, sitting at around 60-70km/h, even with constant throttle (cruise control) the revs go up and down by up to 500rpm. Any lower speed or higher speed and the box doesn't do it I've heard of my earlier problem but not this before, and I can't understand why its developed only recently. Are both issues potentially oil level related? Also do they seem like things that can be tuned out of the box (I know this is bandaid fix), because will be getting a zf tune by the end of the year Cheers

  16. Agreed with this! You might spend an extra $2k on the car with zf but that auto will hate you with that power and especially at the track. In saying that I had a mate kill a zf with 320rwkw so depends on how you drive I think genuine are around $300ish but from what I heard aftermarket just don't cut it Looking at about $300ish on the port job with flapper upgrade, but not including labour. Probably $1k removed, port job and refitted. This is imperative to control boost with a bigger exhaust
  17. I didn't mention anything about price of turbo, saving $2k not going through tuner (cost of parts plus labour)
  18. Done that and looking at $2k min more going through them. MTQ are their chosen company for turbo's so they're happy with that. They prefer me to run a hurricane exhaust but at double the price of xforce I can't justify it. They're happy to use xforce just don't like the sound. Only thing is to have a crack at installing the turbo myself

    Someone correct me but seems quite rich that tune? A proper tune should lean it out a bit more and prob get better power and fuel economy
  22. The car cops a bit on the street but yea won't be hitting the strip.. Just gotta weigh up to see if its worth the risk I put on everything else

Sooo I found the HP forums which a few of you guys are clearly on and some of my questions were answered there Is the FG zf still only able to be unlocked with the 2.25 beta or is there a full version released? This tuner might not have gotten the beta for some reason (probably hasn't asked for it) Also I might be mistaken but is it possible to get the trial version of HP, and load my SCT tune file to look at it? Seems like HP allows you to read a SCT file
  25. I was told the zf tune was available for B series but not FG yet. Not sure what the difference would be but just going off what I'm told So if I was to get a retune with HP, the tuner can unlock my SCT tune and modify it with the xcal device? Trying to see whether its possible to retune using HP but keeping xcal to have multiple tunes. I thought the car might have to be returned to stock every time to load a new tune in and the device would run out of unlocks
