If I remember correctly VL's you really wide and short coolers yet our cars use coolers that are more tall than wide so probably have to cut everything to make it fit lol
Pretty sure. I think its the screw fittings that are the ones that don't leak as opposed to crimped fittings(??). I'll double check before I buy in the next week or 2
Mate theres one clamp that holds the intake pipe on about halfway too the throttle body. theres a screw or two on the snorkel n then pretty sure the box just sits in place isn't even screwed down. its really not that hard. And to be honest if you can't figure it out I suggest not doing any mods and leaving it stock...
Fair enough. Do you think that different servo's will have different levels of ethanol or is it different every batch. How hard is it to test the fuel? Wouldn't mind testing the eflex near my place. I have to talk to the tuner I'm going with and I'll see their view on it
Yea I think the 'bad batch' might have just been those with the different fittings and they leaked. Might have to get around some jobs on the car now that uni's almost over the year n I can finally earn some money again lol Thanks mate for the write up!
Was wondering the same comparison. Currently have 255/35 falken 452's on the rear but they're okay. Once you got some heat in them they grip alright but I can still spin the last bit of first to second in a stock FG. Can't compare them to anything else in the same size on the same car unfortunately. Previous experiences with achilles have been good but they currently only go up to 275/30 and I want 285/30 so that's why federals and falkens are an option. By the sounds of it no one is overly impressed with either so might just have to live with a little stretch and save a bit of coin going the achilles
Thought I would just tack on to this thread rather than start another about the turbo oil line. So after reading both sides to the earls over and over again Im still unsure whether to put one in or not (FG with 85,000kms). Now we know the stock filter can clog up and cause turbo failure, but what about the earls line. Has anyone ever had a problem occur with the earls line? I think my decision will be fairly clear that if the earls line has a 100% success rate as opposed to the possibility of the stock one failing then the $150 is worth it
Why not bother with eflex? Just curious because I have eflex nearby but no e85 in Canberra yet and thought it would be worth getting it tuned on the stuff. I know some have claimed the ethanol is only 70% in eflex but it is quoted to be up to 85%
I think one of the members on here as done a cortina build with a Barra. Its dark blue in colour. If someone knows his username could probably get in touch with him and ask a few questions
^^ this. In terms of price your looking at $150-$200 for a walbro intank plus install, next option would be the KPM 460 module which is $900 plus install (but has anti-surge features) and then you consider surge tank with external pump (044 or the like) or the KPM 1000 module. From the testing mick (ratter) did a couple of months ago it appears that at 300 the stock fg fuel pump can't quite handle it, even though it was a fair upgrade from the B series so I'd say its definitely worth upgrading. Personally I'm going for the KPM 460 module because it'll allow me to easily go e85 with the right injectors and for the extra 40rwkw(ish) you get from e85 alone, for a few hundred more on fuel pump and injectors its worth it. That's something to consider aswell
I think that might be the ABS self-check. If the car's started and then you stop and take off again does it do it, or only on start up? if only on start up its probably ABS
Is it a BFII or BF? BFII had stronger motor so if you do want to mod its a better platform but if you only want a tune then a BF will be fine. As for kms, its a piece of string scenario. Some people have gone 200,000kms on same turbo, some have gone 20,000kms. All depends on how its been looked after and a bit of luck lol. I guess manual or auto will make a difference what to look for slightly. But basically I'd say if it hasn't been the diff bushes would be shagged. If the gearbox has never been serviced it would be due for one and just general things. Stuff you can argue to reduce the price but doesn't necessarily decrease the value of the car that much
Well mine is on sssl so low enough. and I do a lot of highway stuff on terrible roads so function prevails unfortunately. Might just have to test fit the tyres and have 5mm spacers nearby and hope for the best then If I want aggressive in the future go 25mm spacers and get the guards done. Cheers
Got an auto and you can't hear it at 80kms. Only time you'll hear it is if you pop it up to 6th and it starts to drone but the auto box holds 5th at that speed anyway. As for 100-110, nope no drone at all. Most of the sound comes from in the 1500rpm revs and then dies off a bit, picks up heaps at about 2500 and then fads away by about 3000. Taking off hard my cars goes like this --- exhaust, intake, turbo, pssssshhhhhh. LOVE IT!
I think it needs to be better spelt out lol. YOU NEED TO GET A COLD AIR INTAKE WITH K N N FILTER AND INSTALL IT YOURSELF AND WHEN YOU TAKE IT IN TO GET SERVICED ETC (OR ANY TIME IT GOES TO FORD FOR THAT MATTER) YOU NEED TO REVERT BACK TO THE STOCK INTAKE OTHERWISE THEY WILL SAY YOU VOIDED WARRANTY!! As for mods, no do not get ford to do any mods, only go to reputable mechanics and tuners
