  1. I'd say PWR would probably guarantee that it will not milkshake the box..
  2. Torqparts in bayswater do a good deal on xr8 bonnets, I think they're sold out at the moment though
  3. Big difference between series 1 and 2. My brother gets the 1's to spin in the dry in his NA
  4. What boost is that on mate? Turbo port and flap? Do you have the boost graph to post up? Trying to get real word experiences with full exhausts and no turbo mods
  5. If harrop paint them for no extra cost then I wonder if they will paint them a custom colour for a small fee. Then if that's the case go green. As mentioned yellow and red won't suit the green and black car combo and black won't stand out, and I don't think silver will give you that 'oh my god' look you want when you see them given factory brakes are all silver
  6. If your ultimate goal is only 450rwkw is it worth going a full 4" for the extra $100 or will the 3.5" be better purely because of the fitting benefits and still able to flow enough?
  7. Yea it's Jono Yea I sent the seller a message about that and it is a copy of a KnN... No thanks, I'd rather pay the extra $40 or so for genuine. Makes me wonder whether my rapid kit was supplied with a genuine K and N now :/ They reckon they perform good, but what that means who really knows. Only way would be to do back to back testing on a dyno or put something to measure air flow through one, not worth the time and hassle and to save $50 not worth buying fake
  8. I have a rapid kit, can squeeze the 9" long filter in, plaz is the same (mate has one) but not 100% sure on PW but I believe it has a shorter filter Something like this, although this seems very cheap compared to others for some reason http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/k-n-pod-filter-4-inch-neck-9-long-tapered-suit-high-performance-non-genuine-/201166666979?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ed677bce3
  9. Current filter is KnN and excellent condition. Ill just stick with it! Will be a direct comparison of 2 tuners that way also
  10. Quick question Getting a new tune next week and I can get a 9" long 4" KnN pod for $70 and wondering whether its worth replacing the 6" long pod my turbo side came with? Anyone actually had a retune after a bigger filter and noticed any difference? Cheers
  11. If you don't want to cut PW stepped is the only option. if you don't care about cutting then Jon's or PW 3
  12. Joe, with your built boxes, will you sell them interstate with a tune file to go with them?
  13. Any plans for a 98 tune on this setup? I was going to do this and go prices from John but was only going to be an extra few hundred for a new gtx3576 and its a new turbo as opposed to my old one so decided to hold off until I can afford it If anyone likes this set up I have a 60,000kms fg turbo with stuffed compressor wheel and rear housing that you can do these mods too
  14. My mate just bought a monstatorque box here in canberra. They rate it to 700rwhp, supply the zf tune for it and will provide a 12 month/15,000km warranty. $5,250 inc post iirc. Can't remember if that's a cryo'd or billet shaft but the power rating is more than what he needs anyway so doesn't matter too much. Local shop here gave me a rough price of $7-8k No tuners in Canberra build boxes so don't have that luxury, but for the sake of $500, maybe even $1k if the tuner could build it and warrant it, then I would probably go with them Or like Kosij said go th400 lol
  15. Depends what your ultimate power goal is and whether you're willing to cut to make the cooler fit Check out process west, plazmaman and nizpro. Can't really go wrong with any of them
  16. I would be going cooler and pipes upgrade and fuel pump upgrade. Won't make any more power just make it more reliable. Other than that start saving for a bigger turbo because 320 is the max for the fg turbo
  17. Yea I just dont want major boost spike, might need to have anothet chat to the tuner. Yea I was going to go billet wheel, then was gonna go gtx3576, but decided to hold off for the moment. Cars only making 275 and 295 on different dynos so will try go 300 on the harsher dyno
  18. A bit of a spike and drop off doesn't worry me all that much anyway. If I could get 15-16 tapering to 12 I won't be too concerned.. Obviously controlling a flat line of boost to achieve the same result would be good, was just more concerned with how bad the boost would spike. Will be using a 12psi actuator aswell not factory so that will help fractionally. Matty what power was your car making at that point? Yea I was going to upgrade to a gtx3576 but realistically I just can't afford to break anything at the moment and not happy with my exhaust or current tune so thought I would just change those 2 things, try get over the 300rwkw hurdle and leave it until I finish uni and get a job, then reassess where to go with future mods. With the addition of this exhaust the car only needs valve springs and a good turbo to see over 400rwkw
  19. Just wondering how many people have put a full 4" exhaust or even just a 4" dump and 3.5" exhaust without doing the port and flapper mod? If so how well was your tuner able to control boost? Can you post your boost graphs to check out? My mate has 4" into 3.5" and with just actuator but he wanted the boost brought on hard and fast so had 17psi and it died off to 12 straight after, but I figure that is likely to be the case if you'r trying to bring a lot of boost into the factory FG turbo
  20. Follow up from taking it into a shop today.. Oil level was spot on and condition was very good (their words). The converter is definitely slipping but only when cold and at low constant rpm. Its the first converter issue they have seen where a coolant mix wasn't the issue (no factory exchanger so can't be that on mine), so they speculate it could be the oil as they have never used GW syntrans. Looking at $1500 for recond converter, service and labour, but been told to monitor it for the moment. They also suggested a zf tune could help (which I have planned anyway) So I guess my only question is how many problems are there with syntrans in ZF's. From what I heard most if not all people using that oil haven't had issues

    Fg 565Kw

Also keen to see if/how this is holding up!
  22. Heard of a 6466 on an fg f6 go 10.2 with 495rwkw. Can't remember mph, 135 maybe but just a guess. That's on factory manifold
