^^ nope! People have blown off cooler pipes at stock power. Theres a reason as it's listed as high priority in the mods list. Cooler you can get away with as long as you keep the power at 280ish rwkw By the way without a cat you're gonna struggle to get to 300 aswell. So add cat and pipes and you'll get 300, but will need a cooler to maintain that power

How 'safe' can it be pushing the stock motor that far Mick? Was it a request of the customer to get that kind of power or you're happy to push it that far cause you know you can tune it in a way to make it somewhat reliable?

In a BA you would create a fair amount of rake doing that and would look funny. Why not just go sl front if you're concerned?

I wouldn't bother with anything less than 9" on the rear otherwise kinda pointless changing wheels. Not 100% sure with 18's because there becomes some clearance issues going too close to the inside on the rear but from what I gather in terms of best performance 18x8.5 +30 with minimum 245 tyre (Not sure what are popular 18" tyre sizes by a 255/35 or 255/40 would be good) 18x9.5 +35 with 275/35 or better. can probbaly go a 285/35 or even a 275/40 (again if that's a common size) I'd imagine for you bullet you're looking at wheels from a practical/track perspective rather than looks and a combo such as this will mean no need for guard work, most width and profile as possible and should perform really well on the street and track

Haha nah poke is a massive no for the cops As for handling, most of those cars would be probably worse due to crazy tyre stretch, but those with a little stretch would probably handle better. Not too much side wall for roll, -3 deg camber for good turn in and a really low centre of gravity again adds to cornering

Yea You got a point! That's part of the reason I have no grip now, stretched tyres just eliminates the role side wall plays! Would love to have some pretty aggressive wheels but I think I need to start being a bit more practical (Fark 21 yo and starting to be mature already lol)

In terms of 'fun to drive' the XR has LSD and I think stiffer suspension (but don't hold me to that) and that's about it. I can't imagine there's much in as a stock v stock basis. Xr is more sporty and G series more luxury (and for same kms and year the g series costs more. All depends what you want from the car mate. I love hoping in my mates G series, the interior just feels so much more luxurious

I agree Quasi and I'm not so much whinging otherwise I wouldn't be going to Gentech, the guys have been great to me so far and the car isn't even done yet. And I think you're missing my point a bit Mick. I just don't quite understand how some tuners can do it for $500 (500/120 = 4ish hours). That sounds about right doesn't it for most cars? A solid 4 hours on the dyno? Who knows, my car may be on the dyno for 8 hours and then yea fair enough, but what if its only on there for 4 or 5? Is that them trying to even it out when they get a sh*t car that needs a heap of time ie 10+ hours or what? I'm just trying to find the justification in the price that's all

Well at $120 an hour (that's gentechs rate) you'd be looking at $1200+ n fair enough but what about those cars that are on the dyno much less than that? I don't want to assume so how long would you have an fg with the "basic" mods on the dyno for? I think if tuning prices are set then id imagine they're based on an average time to do a car n so that's how tuners get to their prices, some cars take 2-3, some take 20, I'm assuming it should all even out?

Okay tossing up new wheels. Looking at 19's with 245/40 and 275/35 2 options: 19x8.5 +20-+25 19x9.5 +35 OR 19x9.5 +25-+30 19x10.5 +35 I realise they're 2 very different looks and I never use to like stretch but seen a couple like Henz's bro's car and I think it can be done with enough low (which I have) What do you guys reckon?

Yea I agree. But from what I know, Gentech charge $990 for custom tune as opposed to $500-$800 for many reputable tuners in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth. Don't see why we have to pay more for the same level of service that those receive in other cities
