Trust me I'd love too but its gonna set me back a bit cause I don't earn a lot (uni student), so I really need to way up the benefits vs costs I never had any issues with the bushes in my old BA xr6 that did 150,000kms so why has my T sh*t itself after 78,000? Is it a turbo thing, an FG thing or just a random not if but when kind of thing?
-
Hey senna do you think its definately a bush that's causing the clunk because im thinking about just getting a full super pro rear bush kit and replacing everything?
-
Hey envy, you need to look in the right places lol. I got a 2008 FG XR6T with 78000kms, climate control, premo sound, sunroof for $20k. Smaller turbo is amazing, your basically always in boost so very rarely do you experience any turbo lag. Personally I love the look of the FG, just looks newer and sleeker. In terms of interior theres some major upgrades, especially coming from the speedo. But at the end of the day I was going to get a BFII because $20k was my budget then this came up

Yea lax they're just plasti dipped but they came up good, I like the black on black. Yea towbar is gonna go I think, 'll probably put it up for sale on here in the next week or so. Looks like the car is gona get a suspension upgrade sooner than I thought because I got a fair few shagged bushes in the rear end!

Do a bit of a search mate, theres a lot of threads about HDI coolers. It all depends on what you want, ie 300rwkw etc
-
Yea Lax its awesome! Huge jump up from my BA XR6 NA. Should have enough power for the next few month until I go searching for more lol. Only problem I found was the rear end had a clunk in it when I bought it. Turns out theres a few shagged bushes in the rear end, I fixed some but theres still more to do. Apparently its a fairly common thing though. Also handles a hundred times better than my xr6!
-
Okay well I may have to do the upper outers next. Yea fair enough! Apparently my diff bushes are still okay. I'll have to check out the swaybar link pins! Cheers
-
Did these 2 bushes and that fixed 80% of the clunk but its still there. The mechanic at Ford said the upper outer control arm bush could be worn (but he didn't tell me that when he put it on a hoist the other day!!) What do you reckon it could be Senna?

Not quite new to the forum but am to the cars. Just picked up a 2008 FG XR6T in Black. 78,000kms, ZF 6 speed and sunroof. Been looking for one of these for 18 months and finally found what I want! Thanks to the forum for all the useful information that helped me make the right decisions when looking for a T. Some simple mods to start: Vented BOV to atmosphere debadged boot Plasti dipped 19" advanti fusions (my old rims) Black hubs and calipers Mods to come: Either super or ultra low kings all around with hopefully bilsteins Some wider wheels Then going for 300rwkw (injectors, cat, cooler and piping and tune) May do a bit more work depending on funds etc Pics won't load at the moment, stupid internet. Will have to wait till I head back to canberra on the weekend to upload pics.

78,000. Just went to Ford and they diagnosed it as being the upper shock bush and control blade bush. So bought them parts from Pedders and going to try my luck installing them this arvo. Anything else it could be?
-
Hey guys been driving around my new T and noticed a clunk in the rear end, it sounds like its coming from the right side but could be both, not quite sure. It sounds like it could be a stuffed shock or bush but can't quite narrow it down and I'm not overly in the know when it comes to suspension (especially bushes). Basically it can do it at low or higher speeds, mainly over sharp bumps. I also gave it a bootful yesterday and it started to do like an axle hop kind of thing which was weird. It also has gotten worse going from the 18's to 19's which makes me think its the shock because its got to take more of the bumps now with lower profile tyres. Any help would be much appreciated because Pedders is all booked up for their $15 suspension check and I really can't be f***** to pay $50 an hour for a mechanic to tell me its all good! Even if you can tell me what to look for in a stuffed bush (and which ones) and how to tell if the shocks gone to see if I can check it out myself!! Cheers

Did this to my FG a couple of days ago and definately increased the sound from stock which is great! Thanks for this thread, saved me heaps of $$! The only thing, have other ppl woth FG's noticed that it'll go off even in low rev ranges? I don't have a boost gauge but I figure because of the smaller turbo the FG hits boost a bit earlier than the B series, just wondering how early the car starts coming on boost? Just wanna make sure other people have experienced the same thing and I haven't done something wrong

If your worried about going to wide a tyre but want grip maybe stick to a 245/35r19 Nitto Invo (probably get better grip than an achilles 255 or 265). But don't hold me to it, that's just what I read on here. And as for the Nitto's you can get a pretty good deal through Taleb because they're a sponsor. As for the achilles go through these guys, great price and really quick postage!! http://www.thewheeldeal.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=279_274&products_id=2413

Ford told me to do that so warmed the car up for like 15mins but it just wasn't hot enough, the screws weren't budging, that's when I went to the heat gun and ended up with the oxy lol
-
Yea second pic for sure!! I hope the car is low enough to tuck them and make them actually look like that in real life lol
-
Shyfrd it all depends on how patient you are lol. When I did mine I'm pretty sure I used a thread on here to learn how to do it. Basically take off all your intake, then your throttle body. Disconnect the connection for the tps. Now this is where it gets tricky. The 2 screws holding it in are prone to breaking and they're locktited in. I read a hundred different ways to get it out and I tried heating it with a heatgun and then using an electric screwdriver on a continual speed but both snapped on the way out. So resorted to using an oxi torch to heat it up (gently lol) and then lucky had enough screw poking out to use pliers to unscrew what was left. If I was to do it all again I would just use the oxi from the word go with the electric screwdriver and it should be all good. And I picked up a tps of a BFII with 50,000kms for $50 when I replaced mine that had been on my car for 130,000kms
-
As with sharp dressed panda I had the same symptoms in my NA XR6, engine light and always struggling in the low revs Should be able to pick up a second hand tps for about $50 from a wrecker (ford wanted $300 to do this). Probably worth changing anyway and if its not that then no real harm done to your wallet.
-
ssl will not look nearly low enough on 18's. Problem with smaller wheel is that when you lower it you can tuck the tyre into the guard aswell as 19's or 20's but the car sits lower to the ground and you get problems with speed humps. It'll all be dependent on your rims. Choose your rims and then go from there cause depending on your tyre size, offsets etc will determine how low you can go before needing to lip your guards and stuff
-
That's a pretty good deal Kurgen!! Some of those one's I posted a while back that have been for sale for more than 6 months will prob take the same sort of price cut, definately seems possible to get a good buy for around $17k or less

Installing Second Cigarette Socket- Ba Boot Area?
Bellato replied to geekatrons's topic in Interior & Exterior Workshop
Could just completely be a guess but is there any way you could tap into the wires of the cigarette lighter behind the dash and run the wires to the boot down the side of the car? Or will this not work if your trying to run both at the same time because its splitting the voltage in half? -
If you don't want to do the turbo mod your better off just getting the cat and then doing the dump and turbo mod at the same time down the track. You'll get 300 with changing the cat, don't need a dump.
-
Look good. Maybe change the blue stripe to black to blend it all in, or remove it all together. And yea needs lowering lol
-
Go with them then get your exhaust shop to fabricate some y pieces and weld them all in? Probably cost you $200 all up?
-
Something like this Mika? They aint cheap though http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-5-TWIN-OUTLET-ROLLED-END-STRAIGHT-CUT-CHROME-EXHAUST-TIP-YP90RX-/160745087982?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item256d2763ee#ht_675wt_1168
