  1. Well Thanks for all the info guys. It's a bugger with this massive ICC stuck in the dash, I loved the good old days of just ripping out the factory cd player or cassette deck and in went the nice new 3rca out primo headunit, problem solved and amp it bigtime. What about the bit10? I mean if It's going to sound good then I'll invest the money in the hardware needed. I read up on the audiocontrol lc6 but I'm leaning towards the outlay for the audison stuff. Who can really tune and set these up correctly in NSW, no point blowing $1000 to then have some apprentice spend 15mins "tuning" it in. I'm looking at using my 2 existing 10 inch subs and then some good quality splits in the doors with some dynamat. I dont see the point in upgrading the rear 5x7's. It's just a huge stuff around with the ICC as It's easy to use with the steering wheel controls and the ipod/iphone intergration, there is nothing premium about the premium sound pack that's for sure

    Remote Lid Locking

Thanks for the info guys, I dont think it's going to be a quick solution as I'll have to get power and trigger wires from the cabin and up into the rear of the tray, then some sort of locking kit, plus I've just started to notice that I've got this god awful squeaking now happening while driving. It just plain squeaks the entire drive, the bigger the bumps the more it squeaks. I think the hardlid is rubbing on the top of the tray, all I know is that its bloody annoying. The factory hardlid locks seem to lock the tray but not with enough force to hold the hardlid nice and tight against the tray. Think I'm going to have to spend a small fortune and get these remote hydraulic actuators so that when it fully closes, the hydraulic actuators hold the hardlid tightly in place. I tried a small amount of silicon spray but stopped once I realised it will turn into a mess over time.

    Remote Lid Locking

Yeah I've had a look at those lid lock kits, they are kind of what I'm after as it will be locked with the factory central locking, but it does say on there website not for ford original equipment which is what I've got on my ute. I dont really want to have to change the hard lid over just to have it remote locked. I'm more interested in the full remote actuator type, both lock and lift, like from these guys http://www.autoremotehardlid.com.au/Default.aspx I'm going to shoot them off an email and see if they make something for us blue oval guys. The other little niche is whether the ute tray has any type of sensors in it to work with the factory alarm as well. Even just a reed switch or something so that if someone manages to finally break inside the tray ,then the alarm goes off. Bit more investigating I think to see what can be done. Good ol ford didnt want a bar of it, Eg an aftermarket supplier or accessory company they use for dealer extras. Got the palm off " Just ring fpv mate, they should have something that will work".
  4. Hey guys, Has anyone here fitted one of those auto remote lid lock kits for an FG with the big actuators?? And do they work or can they be configured to work with your factory remote fob?? Also When I was looking at the new FG ford utes last month, I was told that the hard lids now come with remote locking that works with your doors. Can this later upgrade be retro fitted to an earlier series FG ute?? Or am I wasting my time and I should swap out the factory lid for a flat top lid with central locking?? I've got a FG12/09 pursuit ute with the bulge lid and the spoiler, which I'm assuming is the factory ford lid (EGR)but the hard lid is manual locked with a flimsy little key. Since I'm going to be carrying around a fair amount of tools etc in the tray, I really need something quite secure. Cheers Aj
  5. I agree totally, sometimes you've just got to travel to get what your after. They have a dealer, gen-tech in Canberra so I'll contact them and see what's the way to go over the coming months.
  6. Yep it seems my hunch was right, the good ol sales pitch of you need this, and this and this and THEN it will work. I want to use the stuff that or at least some of the stuff that I'll be pulling out of my current car and re-use in the ute. I've got an infinity reference 611A amp which unfortunately doesnt have speaker level inputs. A pair of kenwood exceleon DVC 10" subs KFC XW-1002DVC. A pair of pioneer bullet splits. TSC-1625. I agree the response stuff is good, I used to have a set of their response splits in an older car and 1 of their older bright blue style response amps, the 2x100wrms. I just want to try and re-use some of my current gear 1st. I'm probably looking at, (after the quick read on here) An audison 3channel srx3 amp, it has hi-level inputs then just using 1 of my kenwood dvc subs and my pair of bullet splits. Dynamat the doors and rear of the cab and some of the floor maybe, get some nice custom enclosure and amp rack done for behind the seats. I think that's all I'm going to need.
  7. Thanks for the quick info guys. I'm actually located up in sydney but I checked out the bluepower website and was quite impressed. I'll definately be ringing around before I enlist a place to begin the work. I used to goto autotech for my rexy and even a 1.5hr drive to a tuner up the central coast because the job done was always professonial and they explained things in a language you understand and not all technical mumbo jumbo. So intake ,exhaust & tune, that sounds like the 1st step to do then look at cams down the track. Is the billet oil pump a 100% must to install once you start to increase your power. I don't want an epic engine fail
  8. Hi Everyone, I've got a fg super pursuit and of course I want to beef up the audio system even though it's got premium audio. I've enquired at my audio shop and they say "yep adding an amp is not a problem, we'll just add some converters for about $80". Now I like my stereo's, not big bass booming machines but I like the music to sound how it should be,not waffled and the high's and lows sounding crisp. I mentioned about audison amps and using a bit 1 processor but they just said its a waste of time. Are these $80 converters all I need or should I spend the extra money and get proper line level conveters. I'm looking at running a big infinity sub amp and just a 2 channel amp for a good set of front splits with my excelon dvc sub. Any advice would be great. Cheers Aj
  9. Hi Everyone, I've just become the proud owner of a nitro blue auto super pursuit ute with the 315kw Boss 5.4L I just wanted to see what advice you all have in regards to the do's & don'ts when it comes to modding. I'm looking at doing the basic mods over the coming months, starting with the sct tune and some sort of cai like a growler and then move into the exhaust department and finally a set of herrod motorsport 315 cams. is there anything I should watchout for when proceeding with these mods, I've heard and read on these forums about the brake shudder issue with the 6/4 brembos which thankgod this doesnt have, I've seen people talk about issues with the check engine light coming up and general issues when changing headers or playing around with the exhausts, so in this regard with exhaust systems is it better to leave the front section alone and just install a cat back system or are those things tuning related and I should combine a flash tune when I get the exhaust done?? What sort of CAI's are people using, just a drop -in k&n panel filter with the standard airbox or a full replacement type like the ss inductions growler or something. Lastly I'll be installing some herrod motorsport cams, I heard them on a youtube video and it just makes the car sound perfect. Are these a good street cam to install. I do a fair bit of stop start driving while commuting to work mon-fri. It's really only the weekends where it'll be more natural driving. Intune motorsport are the most likely workshop I'll be approaching to get this stuff installed as they are the closest to me, I havent seen anyone write a bad word about them, who should I be speaking to when I contact them. Cheers and thanks for the great website, it really is an invaluable source of for info and help Aj
