Thanks for that. Do you know where in Horsham he is, or a contact number? I have had the previous engine flash tuned by Heinricks in Adelaide, so I have 2 modified, and 1 stock tune in my flash. At the moment, I dont really want to add my previous "hotup" bits to this engine. Would rather add at a later date if I decide to build a good motor. Just want to get the ute back on the road ASAP. The 2nd hand engine I am looking at has all the standard bits with it(intercooler, front exhaust section.

The problem we have down our way is no real tuners. The closest to me is Adelaide, 450ks. I would need to get the ute over there, and its not as simple as putting it on a trailer to get it there. I did read thru this thread, so just trying to get some helpfull info that's all.

I suppose if I ask a stupid question, I expect a stupid answer from stupid people.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but have blown the engine in my BA ute, and am thinking of just fitting a stock turbo engine to get it going for now. Is it OK to run my bigger exhaust, and intercooler with the stock engine without a tune? My exhaust is the APS system, bigger cat, and I think a PWR cooler. I dont want to add my hotup bits to this motor. If I have to, I will get a standard exhaust and fit. I can go back to my standard tune(flash tune)
  5. Is Bruce on a commission with you blokes? :sungum: He, and his team are a great bunch of blokes. And as stated, wont rip you off.
  6. Sounds like a leaking injector. May pay to get them serviced.
  7. The bit I know is that the block, and crank are the same. Only later BF that had updated rods(and FPV) Pistons run a lower compression on the turbo motor. So yeah, get a NA, and build up a goodun.
  8. Check on Ebay mate. And where are you from? That may help with places to get from. And welcome to the site :sungum:
  9. No doubt its somewhere on here, but does anyone know the Ford part number for the BF short engine? Every time I try search, I dont get anywhere. Ned an engine for my BA ute.
  10. Just bringing this back to life, I have blown the engine in my BA turbo auto ute, and can get a complete BF Typhoon motor with 6 speed auto, wiring(not sure what), ecm etc. Would this be an easier conversion than done by the original poster?? I am not sure of what other bits are available from the Phoon. Or do I just get an FG motor, and use my 4speed.
  11. Developed an engine oil leak tonight on my ute. Jeez, 7.5lts of oil makes a mess on the bitumen when a rod goes out the sump Got a bit excited, and bang, out she came. Time for an upgrade me thinks.
  12. Have a look on Ebay. Quite a few on there ranging from $4,000-8,000 depending on what it comes out of.
  13. My ute has plenty of mumbo with 283rwkw, but next mods will be brake upgrade, and decent shockers. As stated here, great heap of power is no good if you cant get it to the ground. I do a lot of 1,000k round trips, go to the dump, run down the street, just go for a drive, and it does all that as well as giving a grin when needed :sungum: Dont waste your money on crap.
  14. earle, mine has an APS stage 2 kit. 3.5" exhaust, external fuel pump, cold air intake, larger injectors(dont know what size) GT valve springs, larger intercooler( I think it is a PWR), Plazmaman pipe kit, turbosmart blow off valve, and now a SCT flash tune. It has the turbo flapper/ported mod done as well. I am happy with the way it goes. My tuner said I have a waste gate actuator problem as well, which is limiting my boost.
  15. I had a similar result with a flash tune recently. Removed the Unichip, and put in a flash, and picked up over 60rwkw in the low to mid range, and only 20rwkw at the top end. End result was 283rwkw. It hauls arse now that's for sure :sungum:
  16. Depends on what state you are in, and what state the car comes from. Also, age of vehicle will alter type of inspection in some states. A bit more info may help with answers.
  17. If in a couple of years you have $25,000, you will probably be the richest bloke around if the economy goes backward anymore. And yes, a Chinese vehicle with 2 cylinders will be the car of choice. Rice will go up that much you will have to ration the stuff to survive. Although, V8 falcons with blown engines will be cheap.
  18. 01txr, my BA turbo ute will thrash my GTS as well, but that's not what I said. The comment was my honest opinion of 2 brands of cars. In other words its what I think, the same as your opinion is obviously what you think. No mention of who is quicker, has more power etc. I bet you voted for Anna Bligh, and have a secret love for AU Falcons as well
  19. I dont know why I bother. Its obvious you have no taste at all when it comes to cars. And mine is the early VE. Anyone had a look at the sales figures lately???
  20. Dont get me wrong, I love my ute, but Fords look outdated compared with Holdens. My VE GTS has a farr flasher trim, and IMHO a "tougher" presence on the road than a GT-P or what ever the new GT is. And its only going to get worse if the Yanks have their way :f*ckyou:
  21. Havent used them, but did inquire about leather for my BA ute, and they were very helpfull, and quick to reply. Ended up getting FG leather ute seats instead.
  22. Gunna give Bruce a "real" car to play with 2morro. Got daughters VT Clubby (355 stroker) up for a tune, and some work. :sungum:
  23. I have just upgraded the seats in my BA Ute, and used a set of FG XR6T ute leather seats from Athol Wreckers. Paid $1,000 for the pair, done 1100ks. :sungum: Great improvement over BA XR6 seats. Priced Recaros in Adelaide while I was there, around $2,400 each :f*ckyou:
  24. Who says they aint lookin??
  25. It sounds like tyres/bitumen type. Will still do it with new tyres. Welcome to inconsistant road surfaces :f*ckyou:
