  1. Maybe the Territory has the same block, and a front mount dipstick?? Have no idea otherwise.
  2. Yes, my engine has the 2 dipstick holes in the block.
  3. Your last idea is possible if the current owner is OK with it. I have done it, and just send the plates, and rego sticker back when home.
  4. Welcome Tom. I know what you were going thru, although, I already had the XR6 Turbo ute, then bought a VE GTS as well. 2 completely different cars in my opinion. The turbo (depending on tune) is much smoother, and easier to drive than the GTS. Even though both have the electronic throttle, the GTS is too sensitive on the throttle for driving around town compared to the turbo. Both have plenty of go. I dont like the 6 speed auto in the GTS, cant make up its mind what gear it wants. Anyway, no doubt you will find what you want, and enjoy.

    Help

    Loose guts in cat??
  6. What, the old tune, or the new one? Bruce did the old tune, and had the new one done down here in Mount Gambier by the dyno man at Repco Auto care. They have a Mainline 4wd dyno, inground setup. They fitted the new engine for me as well. Seems to know his stuff. They use HP tune, and VCM.
  7. I prefer a smooth power, rather than a sudden surge. My old tune was too sudden, and not easy for the wife to drive, but my new tune has been wound back, and is very smooth to drive. Still goes very well. My personal opinion, but I find these dyno figures all a bit of a wank. Driving feel is what its all about for me. But, everyone is different. So dont flame me for having an opinion please
  8. thecook, did you have to modify the RH(turbo side) engine mount bracket to get it to fit up to the block? I had a very mild tune put in, so shouldnt be any problems. Has a very smooth spread of power, unlike my previous engine that came on like a sledge hammer(and went bang like one)
  9. Midnight, if you are getting a short built, why not get better rods, and forged pistons while your at it. Then at least it will handle the power, and you wont have to do it again later.
  10. Mate, take my word for it, that's the cheap option. If you blow your engine, start saving big time. You will spend more than $3,000 building a strong bottom end, as well as all the other bits that will get broken if it blows. Some get away with running the standard bottom, but eventually it is going to pop. How many ks on your engine?
  11. Its around $3,000 for an F6 short motor, plus R&R engine, strip, and change over all parts, gaskets etc. I would say around $6-7,000 all up. that's providing there is nothing else wrong with your engine. Your cylinder head would need doing up, and other possible repairs(turbo maybe) I have just done my ute, engine blew, and I fitted a new F6 long motor. I needed quite a few parts, that's why I went with the long. Had turbo rebuilt, new radiator, all new belts, and hoses. Dont ask on the total price
  12. Mine only had 283rwkw, and broke a rod
  13. I would just replace the clutch as per #3. Just be easy on the go pedal. Yeah, yeah, I know that's not easy :sungum: And, at the same time, save for the engine as well. You will need it eventually.
  14. I am sure if Ford were reading these forums, they wouldnt give any warranty at all on any part.
  15. I have heard the name Cometic mentioned as a good head gasket. Dont know anymore though.
  16. Is your F6 a BF, or FG? 40 engine kw difference for a start if its an FG.
  17. No, all looks new. Has the engine oil cooler as well, I guess this is standard F6? It was listed under BA/BF F6 Typhoon/Tornado in the parts list. Dont know, but its in, and running, so that's a good start :sungum: And ya gotta love that blue rocker cover I wonder if they run out of BA/BF shorts, and used an FG short instead?? 4 years since the BF finished. Although, they listed 8 shorts in stock. Would be interesting to have a look at one of those.
  18. I thought the FG F6 has forged pistons? Reading other threads seems to suggest this. Long motor $9,000.
  19. So, is the engine oil cooler an F6 thing(BA/BF included), or only an FG F6??
  20. Yeah, it even had a water pump, and harmonic ballancer. Not shown on the parts list. I am wondering if it is an FG F6 bottom, it should have the forged pistons etc.
  21. I bought a long motor, not a short. It was the only long they had in stock. It did come with oil in it, and the mechanic said he had to clean the loctite out of the inlet manifold bolt holes in the head. Could it have been taken out of a new car at sometime, and had a BA/BF sump fitted? I have heard of parts being taken out of new cars to supply the spare parts divisions. Just seems strange.
  22. I know there is a difference between the BA/BF, and FG block. Something to do with RH engine mount bracket?? The reason I ask is that I just fitted a brand new F6 long engine from Ford to me BA ute, and it is the BA/BF F6 engine according to the dealer I got it off. Now, the RH engine mounting bracket had to be trimmed to clear a cast lug on the side of the engine. Does this mean that my BA/BF F6 engine has an FG F6 bottom end?? Come on all you experts, what do you reckon?
  23. I thought the FG turbo is different to the BA/BF?? Maybe that's why the flap and port are so big?
  24. I just had my turbo rebuilt, and my rear housing was cracked real bad. New housing fitted. The bloke buys the housings allready ported ( ATS in Adelaide). 30mm seems to be the normal opened up size.
