  1. Ah, yes, mine was "supposed" to be a BA/BF F6 long, but I believe it consists of an FG short motor with BA/BF add ons. I think Ford are just building longs as needed, using parts out of FG stock.
  2. Paulie, was the prices for F6, or just FG XR6T short, and long. Interested on the long, as the one I bought was the last one in stock(at the time)
  3. that's BS. I bought my long F6 motor from my Ford dealer, and no mention of the FPV rubbish. Part numbers are on the parts list like any other part.
  4. Sounds to me like you may need another opinion on whats wrong with it. What was your initial problem that you went in for? Compression may not be pistons, could be head. If its not rattling, may not be as bad as thought. Although, could be bent rods, but wont know that until pulled down.
  5. Thanks mate, will do. PM sent.
  6. Yeah, gunna look at a built box, just not sure who to use. Got a price off MV Automatics, and looked at one on Ebay that RVO had. Still thinking about it. The Commy is sitting in the shed at the moment. Got an idling, and stalling problem that no one can fix. May have the cam timing out, very low on vacuum. Shes had to resort to driving the Soarer. :sungum:
  7. Nah, trannies startin to suffer now, so got to take it easy until I work out what I am going to do. And, too farkin hot down here for us weaklins, and my poor old ute dont like it hot
  8. Jeez fellas, you startin to talk sh*t like them Vic girlies over on their chat and toss section :sungum:
  9. I maybe wrong, but doubt that the FG is different in pullies. The belt is the same for all BA/BF 6cyl engines, turbo, or NA.
  10. Idler assy, drive belt, BA 8A617A. $30.50 Pulley, tensioner, EF 6B217A. $22.49 (pulley only) EF pulley is cheaper than BA/BF. My dealer uses the EF ones.
  11. I just fitted a new long F6 motor to my BA ute. Was sold to me as a BA/BF F6, but seems to have an FG bottom end as confirmed by that video, as the mechanic had to take a piece out of the RH engine mount.(and had 2 dipstick holes) Not hard, and not expensive to buy and fit the water pipes to the engine oil cooler on the F6 engine, although, not sure if the short comes with the cooler( my long did) Otherwise, no dramas.
  12. Unless you like chucking money down the toilet, buy the FG. Better base to start from, allready more power in stock form, stronger bottom end etc, etc. I just replaced the blown engine in my BA ute, and now the auto is playing up, so more dosh needed. The amount I have spent including purchase price, I could have a very good BF F6, or a new FG XR6T. But, I like my ute, so its staying. Choice is yours in the end, no one elses.
  13. As I stated in the other forum, drop the belt off, and see if the noise goes away. That will eliminate the idler, and water pump.
  14. I have been reading that thread. Wasnt game to say anything on here incase some people are a little sensitive. At least it takes the heat off Bruce
  15. My mild tune is fairly snappy off the line, and since fitting standard under bonnet intake, I feel its a bit more lively. Maybe mind over matter though
  16. At least your cleaning a decent car :sungum:
  17. I think his whole family work there
  18. Have you checked to see if your exhaust is hitting on anything? My BA has the same problem, and its the exhaust hitting the towbar mount. Fair bit of movement in the exhaust rubbers down the back. Also, have you greased between the leaves? Lowered springs can get noisy .

    Ba/bf 3Peice Lid

Dont know if FG bars fit, but BA/BF have 2 different bars. 1 set for non hard lid, and another set for hard lids.
  22. Mate, I would check with Ford on an F6 short. You may find that the shorts have FG internals, which are better than just BF stuff(or so I believe) I fitted an F6 long motor to my BA, and a lot point to it being an FG F6 motor, or at least an FG F6 bottom end.
  23. I have been a 2 foot driver for years. Only way to go in an auto. Gettin too old for a manual. Plus, you can manual shift the auto as well.
  24. Does this mean I dont have to hang out in the Vic section now your back? :rokon:
  25. Is this only thru Telstra phone internet? I have Telstra prepaid turbo stick, and dont have any trouble.
