  1. Thanks for checking that up for me winsor, reason I ask is because evo's at 100,xxx need belts, harmonic balancer and all that stuff replaced - didnt know if it was the case on these beasts. Test drove the silver boonaza ute, the guy has a $1200 quote to fix up hail damage.. someone dropped a garage door on the hard cover spoiler. Had some major turbo lag compared to the BA 4sp auto I drove a couple weeks ago, didn't feel strong till 3,500rpm :S Guy was 110% firm at $24000 too unfortunately. Also had some amazing shudder breaking slightly down from 80-100, whole car was having a fit but the discs were completely flat. Also with the amount of work I have on with this new business slipping away to NSW isnt an option :( I totally agree with you EvilDaifu, wish I was in NSW.. hah prices of cars over there are a straight tease compared to here in Perth. Think ill keep checking daily and hang out till this guy gets back from up North.
  2. Hmmm good point, yeah they're not a great dealership last time I was there during work hours I was pretty much dragged to their financial guy to start the usual sales splurge... Id have heaps more faith in RAC if they had even bothered to check the totally cracked exhaust housing on my evo's turbo when I bought it... the small ass stock mitsubishi turbo wasn't seeing boost till 5,000 RPM when I bought it after the RAC inspection which said it was fine... lol. Id give my right arm to get an FPV at that price but wouldn't feel safe unless I physically go over it. I thought a 100,000 km service would be more then a 60,xxx or 75,xxx service?
  3. Well I went and had a really good look at the BF2 that I linked... holy sh*t its had a hard life. Exterior - 1) Headlights plastic film was completely peeling back 2) Drivers side side-skirt had 2 metal clips holding it on, was missing numerous of the plastic screws and wobbled to no end 3) Mesh grill on front bumper fell out when I lightly prodded it 4) Front grill above the bottom bumper wasn't aligned at all, felt a little lose Spent about 15mins under the car to see as much as possible (note I used to do car detailing for this particular ford dealership many years ago) 1) Terrible mass black spray paint job on all wheel arches, the snapper head who did it didnt even wipe off excess paint with thinners 2) 4 year old exhaust had major surface rust - I looked underneath a same year sedan and it was still visible it was mild steel 3) Power steering rack attempted to be cleaned up - leaking 4) Scratches gallore 5) Warped rear discs Can't be assed with the rest lets just say my god its had a really hard life considering the kilometers - not to mention there is an extra 1000km's the dealership has put on it since advertised odo. What should I be offering the guy with the 'bananza"? What does that even mean other then the weird ass badge lol. Would love more then anything to get the FPV but dont want the whole hassle of bringing a car back from east, brought my evo over for around ~$1000 from Melb to Perth not to mention I cant go over it with a fine-tooth comb. Also if the 'banaza' is in good condition and im happy with it - whats involved with a major service on these engines as its really close to 100,xxx? How much $$ should I have put away?
  4. Stuck in boring old Perth, has to be a ute due to mass of tools/foilage coming from landscape gardening. Damn I'd love an FPV at that price wow! Max id want to spend is $23,000; looking at - BF MKII Ute Tell me what you all think, I like the fact it has low km's with the stronger autobox. What should I be offering them?
  5. After weighing up everyones posts it seems in the long run (I plan to keep the car more then 4-5years) it would be a better 'business decision' to cough up for a BF MKII. If I did any mods it would have to be sensible, replacing stock intake, ic with the FPV equivalents, then just maintaining it. The reason I had the evo is I dont trust myself in powerful RWD's given how I hit 20psi around corners for sh*ts and giggles - so staying stock till I learn how to deal with a RWD. Is there anything in particular I should be looking out for with the BF MKII (ute has 34,xxx on the odo)? They dont suffer the same radiator problem as the BA's do they? Thanks for the help guys after reading what I read yesterday I think paranoia set in and the thought of not getting an XR6T was devistating, haha.
  6. The difference in price between the two is 8grand so would prefer the BA hip pocket wise, just is it a matter of replacing the trans cooler to rectify any small possibility this can happen?
  7. Well ive come to terms with having to sell my old evo (what a money pit) due to starting a new landscape gardening business which is currently demanding I get something more practical. But not too practical as im already accustomed to what 400hp feels like. The car is going to stay stock (as long as mentally possible) and has to get me to work on time, everytime. Im not one to even bother doing a burnout, abuse the car in any way as ive driven a 4WD turbo for 6 years. My massive main concern is upon searching for XR6T 'complaints' I found a bunch of people talking about blowing their boxes due to a design fault. Which leads to coolant leaking into the box, is this something that affects all BA's but not BF's? If I was to say replace the stock transmission cooler/lines and treat the car with the respect it deserves will it look after my back pocket as a new small business owner? There is a 03 BA XR6T (4sp) I've been looking at for a couple weeks for really cheap with 77,000 km's on the clock, stock as a rock. But upon reading the complaints on blown boxes left right and centre im seriously concerned, ive tried liking Commo SS's but jesus they're slow and unthrilling stock. Note to all ive rebuilt (personally) my evo gearbox twice (gogo clay selector forks) and never ever want to deal with the damn things ever again. Should I leave the older BA alone and stretch my finances out to get a BF MKII? I've only driven the 4sp auto and was impressed so would be more then happy to own one should I be convinced it wont blow something on me. Please help a noob not buy a commodore. "I just don't want one"
