  3. As I mentioned in a topic in Turbo Workshop, my stock turbo is on its way out due to the impeller rubbing on turbo housing. It started becoming worse and worse and not sure if it's just because I actually know what to listen for now and am kinda paranoid about it, but I think I noticed a drop in power as well (especially before the boost is well on, but that's too late for anything that won't cost me losing my license...). So! I think I made a decision. I was considering just replacing it and staying stock and even getting rid of the car and giving a V8 a shot. I actually took one for a test drive (Bogan special VF), but damn, I love my current car and turbo in general too much, so decided to get even more of the fun factor out of it and say hello to the mods! The complete list of mods I'll be planning to do in the future will include: -turbo upgrade -injectors + valve springs -high flow air filter -intercooler -exhaust -fuel pump -ECU To start with, I think I'll go with turbo upgrade, injectors, air filter, cat, ECU and probably upgrading intercooler piping. New turbo will be the expensive part (but this needs to be done in my case), so I don't wanna spend too much money all at once, but definitely prepare myself to eventually do it all over time. Is there anything else you would recommend I should start with / do differently based on what you've done or seen in the past? Also, I'm quite torn up about turbos, not sure which one to go ahead. Heard a lot of good things about GTXs, but also heard that there are plenty other good ones that are as good (if not better), but less expensive... I guess that'd be a constant debate, but what do you reckon? With GTXs, I was first thinking GTX3576R vs GTX3582R, but leaning towards 76 - I'm not looking at huge power late, rather quick gains early on with a minimal lag. Also, I should add, it's my daily car and I'm not looking for some huge power or to track/drag it, hoping for some manageable, low 300s if possible. Anyway, that's the plan for after Christmas-New Years break, hopefully will be able to post an update about how is it all coming along soon!

    Age Of G6Et Owners

25, owned G6ET for over a year now and absolutely loving it! No mods yet, maybe few coming up soon
  6. 2010 G6ET just clocked 77k (easy kms, mostly freeway), stock everything so far, but turbo is slowly on it's way out. Kinda afraid it's gonna lose heaps on its value once clocks over 100k, but it's so much fun to drive that I think I'll keep it for a lot longer anyway, you only live once, right? Maybe some mods coming up soon too
  7. Ouch, ok, sounds very intrusive then... and probably too expensive already. Maybe if I was looking to turn it into a performance beast, but I'm not really... I just want to have a smooth, well working turbo. Do you reckon $3,500 for stock turbo isn't too much though? Or maybe any other aftermarket turbo that you could recommend that wouldn't require such massive changes as the GTX?
  8. Hi guys, Few months ago I noticed my turbo started whistling a bit more than usual, typically on mid-revs when accelerating. It started getting worse and more noticable in the last few weeks. Also, there was a sharp, metallic noise that also started occuring on mid-high revs (on lower gears, just before changing the gear). I took it to Ford for a check up and that's the advise they have given me: "Turbo is showing signs that the impeller has rubbed on the turbo housing. To rectify this concern, the turbo will require replacement. Turbo shaft has an excessive play". New car warranty expired 6 months ago (aaarrrgh!) and I've been told that they may try to "talk to Ford" to find out can they do something about it, but most likely it will cost me around $3,500 for a replacement. I know it's hard to ask you to assess wether Ford is right or not without any photos or actually seeing the car, but, does it sound like something that really could have happened and the only solution is to get a new turbo? What would be the implications of it - loss of performance, boost leaks, etc.? Also, the price... $3,500?!?! Isn't new GTX3582R around $1,900? Not sure how much would be the labour though... From experience I know Ford charges sh*t loads for any service. I don't really know what to do, should I just keep on driving on what I have (I'm concerned though that it may affect performance and it just doesn't sound too healthy at times), or get a new turbo... if getting new turbo is really required, go stock or aftermarket? I probably wouldn't be asking Ford to service it as I don't trust their prices, in that case, any places you could recommend in Melbourne for this sort of thing? Also, if going aftermarket, what should I keep in mind, e.g. quicker wear and tear of the engine, additional stress on other underlying components etc? Many thanks!
  9. Happy Birthday knaps!

  10. Hey guys, Today I saw a g6et with custom badges on the rear door. The badge looked a bit like this: but instead had silver G6 and red E on it... I gotta admit, looked pretty sick! Have any of you came across something like this and knows where to get one from? Checked ebay, only has standard badges... Or if you're the owner of that g6e - I saw you at Dandenong basketball stadium today, silhoulete g6et! Cheers, Mike

  12. If you had $35k to spend to buy a car, what would you get? Which Ford would it be or maybe something completely different (I doubt though)? The reason why I wanted to ask you guys is that I've got roughly $35k budget and I'm looking to get a boosted falcon, hopefully some time this month! I was thinking of getting 2010 g6e turbo, just because they come with lots of luxury extras and they're damn quick too (they don't look too sporty though)... I won't be looking to tune it in the next couple of months anyway, the only thing I'd do first to give it more sporty look is to get some nice 19'' rims and tint windows, more serious stuff will need to wait till I save up a bit more. Do you think g6et is a good choice? Maybe it would be a better option to get one of the FPVs or just standard xr6t with loads of options? Looking forward to hear your opinion!
  13. ebxmple, did you advertise it on carsales or somewhere else? I'm basically limiting my searching to carsales and there are not many new things coming up recently (not turbos at least) :(
  14. Hi guys, I'm getting a little bit frustrated, I'm on a hunt for ba xr6t and I can't find anything decent here in Melbourne! All the cars I checked were from dealers and all of them were just dodgy. One was complete misunderstanding, GT bonnet, GT wing, blue, looked very nice... BUT! The engine was completely worn out, my AU falcon was flying better than that one... and it's not even a turbo! The other one had completely ruined interior, like holes in the leather, scratches on the dashboard, seemed very bad as for the car with 77k mileage - didn't even want to take it for a test drive. Of course all of those dealers are chasing me back with awesome deals, saying that they will fix everything etc. etc., but I'm just looking for a nice car in a good condition with leather, preferably premium sound, of course turbo and with decent mileage. Are all cars from dealers like this? Is it common for cars from yards to have backed up kilometers (I.e. they did more km's than the clock says)? How did you find your xr6t? Did it take long? What mileage would you consider as good (I know Ford engines can handle a lot, I've heard like up to 400k, but not sure how about turbo ones)? I guess I just gotta be very patient and take my time. Oh, btw. my budget is about 17,500 - 18,000. Thanks, Michael
  15. Hey man, I've checked exactly the same car today! I took it for a test drive and all I can say is that it didn't feel like turbo at all. I mean, you could hear it and it was sort of kicking in when you put the pedal to the floor, but I had a feeling it was REALLY, REALLY sluggish as for turbo plus the engine sounded worn out, didn't like it at all, I'd be very careful with this one.
