I had a BA MKII that when giving it wide open throttle then coming to a stop straight away it developed a really rough idle, it would clear itself. the idle was fine as long as I didnt boost it and then suddenly stop. My mechanic at the time took it for a drive and it did it,he diagnosed it as valve springs I got the springs changed and it didnt do it again. It may not be valve springs just a suggestion.

Good idea, he is a whizz with these cars -
clunking from the rear is probably diff bushes. With the 4 speed auto get it a service ASAP. I had a BA MK11 turbo auto and the box went straight into reverse it was one of the things I checked before buying it, but my old BA ute developed the delay before engaging reverse and thankfully it was still under warranty as ford replaced it as it was shot at 35000km...

mate ive been too 3 different tuners and will be sticking with autotech from now on but I came over from CMS only because Autotech are right near my work and its easier for me to get services etc, but CMS were great as well and if I worked in liverpool I would still be going there...

so glad I dont contract anymore, the company I work for has an account with bunnings so I used to have to go there but I whinged so much they got me a corporate credit card and know I can go where ever I want, timber yards and the like and smaller hardware stores. I have checked out a masters I do prefer it to bunnings

Sorry champ was hoping it wasnt the case. This has made it a definite purchase of a extended warranty for me when my factory warranty runs out in March.

Only difference is his didnt backfire but it was hunting revs at 100kays he said and it felt like it was surging wanting to shift gears all the time . Hope its not but an easy check to see if it is.

ZF milkshake a mate had this and turned out to be the heat exchanger had leaked. check to see if your coolant looks like a milkshake in the reservoir . If not remove the big mouth kit and see if it makes a difference.

I remember those days drop it off at 8am and go back at 3pm like I was promised and not even touched , that's why I changed to Autotech....

My brother in law races a BMW 328 full race car full roll cage the whole 9 yards he has a 335 and he has driven both my G6ET and the 335 and he said there is no comparision the G6ET eats it in a straight line, he said that ithe G6ET is quicker than race car in a straight line as well. He is a BMW nut and he said that the G6ET for the dollars is a bargin. He is actually buying a G6E non turbo to tow his race car.

It is very common with BA's. Try a wrecker will be cheaper but with that it might happen again at any time.

I bought it at 45000kms and it had the bad idle I took it to ford and they went over it and reset and updated the computer and it was alot better but still not great. took it to a local tuner and he serviced it and did a throttle body clean/new fuel filter and its been okay since then it doesnt idle as good as the ba it replaced but a heap better than when I got it.

my fg g6et has never idled good always a bit lumpy, a good throttle body service helped. Had everything checked all perfect but he said fgs arent the best when at idle.

my mates bf is on 17.5 with a average speed of 28km/h. my g6et is at 11 at 57km/h, sounds about right.

whats your average speed?

My ba mkii had valve springs go on stock power at 72000kms.
