I reckon you should try calling up a few wreckers and locate a replacement door matching to your paint colour, probably work out cheaper than a panel beater and full respray. Then you can remove the stickers and it wont look any different.. unfortunately FGs arnt like AU/BA-BF doors so it wont be as easy. In the mean time, grab some cut and polish buff out the scratch as best as you can and apply some touch up paint (assuming not much of the paint has gone). A similar thing happened to my xt a few months ago, driving along Victoria pde in the city and heard a loud bang at the side of my door (rear left door). I pulled over 30 meters down the road to inspect the damage and found 2 large scratches down the side of my door, very slight dint but some paint was taken with it too.. I'm guessing either it was some construction worker (I saw some road works down the road) hit my door with a pole or something or a car parked next to a curb side swiped me with their door.. but I have no idea, as no one was around to admit fault. I took it on the chin and just cut and polish/touched it up with paint.. not very noticeable.. just waiting to find a spare door to replace.

mate had a turbo pulsar on his p's, bought it off a guy in nsw, it had mods like u wouldnt believe, it was almost a semi pro race car. took him 3 months to get caught with it and was fined through the nose in vic ($400+) and something like 3 fines, ended up selling it as he would risk losing his license if he drove it again. it had nsw rego though, and I dont think he had insurance either. luckily he got a buyer pretty soon after. whoever your mate is, if he gets caught hes gonna have a nice headache, plus 40k loan? gl finding a bank who would approve that let alone repay the 60k+ in the end that itll cost him after interest.

the top one out of the three sounds like the best buy, is that XR6 Turbo or N/A? If its a T I would say that is a very good deal, just make sure u go through the car service record at 100k as that's the big one. The other cars seem a bit less trustworthy seeing service is missing and later models etc.

do you have any plans for mods? say a complete exhaust setup? You have to remember these cars are made in accordance to certain standards, particularly emission and fuel consumption. I bet if you stuck a better exhaust system from extractors to catback, changed the cold air intake to something bigger and more open and perhaps if u have the money give it a good tune you will feel the power this car really has in stock for you. As a bog stock daily these things are supposed to be quiet and smooth to drive. If you after the grunt you might need to change a few things first. All purely opinion though. I think the XR6Ts are a great car, and I would only consider buying one after sheer performance and under the bonnet grunt. Otherwise id get a N/A XR6 for daily 'quiet' driving.

By how much are the autos faster? is it a noticeable difference on the track compared to street? I would of thought that with manual you can push it that extra bit further? Yeah hearing about the clutch a fair bit on the manuals, 2k doesnt sound cheap haha but I guess if I got the manual I would justify it once I start modding the car with everything else. The AP twin racing clutch that's in FPVs, say F6, those come standard? Fords handle like boats if you dont look after em right, lowering suspension, new shocks, camber kits, changing to nolthane bushes all round, sway bar etc. Can tighten the ride a hell of a lot more that what it starts out to be. Cheers

thanks for clearing that up, huge relief now that I know this. Yep, I read something like that. Hard to find FGs in manuals, saw one but they were asking 33k for an 08 model. im looking to spend around 20 to 23 tops on a BF. In a straight line yes I agree the ZF would be better. Although im looking for a manual over an auto for a lot more fun. one other question, what improvements have people made on their manual gear boxes? im trying to price out and future mods. thanks again for the input guys.

Hey guys, complete noob on manual transmissions here. Im looking at buying a manual bf mk2 xr6t in the coming months, but I have no idea what to look for when it comes to fords and manuals. I drive a 4 speed auto and am sick to death with it. Ive heard a lot of good things about the T56 box and was thinking of going down that road once I get the T. As im still young to the car game and learning as I go ive got a few things on my mind right now. My questions are, what manual does the xr6 bf have. If I were to go a 6speed manual, would upgrading to a T56 be a good investment early on (and what figures am I looking at) or should I not upgrade the manual and think of other things first in terms of performance. What should I look for generally when it comes to buying manual xr6t? if I cannot find a good manual xr6t and settle on a ZF auto, is converting it to a T56 manual a good decision? is it a costly one, and if so how much would I expect to fork out? one last thing, if I were to convert the cars tranny and am left with the original parts, is selling the original transmission easy? what did u guys (if you did the conversion) do with the old parts. thanks in advance.

One guy was selling premo sound, leather, 2006 mkII BF for low 20s, he told me his trade in price would of been around 18k hence he only wants to sell it privately.. im not joking, the difference between 06/07 BFMKII and 08 FG is 10k or so in price. Hence the dilemma of whether to spend more or not. Im seriously considering a 07 bfmkii .. anywhere between $20 to $25k tops (25 if it was under 30,000kms on the clock)

This topic has been playing on my mind for a while. Ive had my 03 BA XT for quite some time now and done a few mods to it, exhaust, suspension, cai etc, but ive come to the point where I can sell up (to a family member) and go looking for another car and definitely going a T this time. The main differences between BF MKII and FG are almost $10k apart. A second hand fully optioned 2007 BFMKII can be had for as low as 20k whereas a 2008 FG, with bare minumum options (if your lucky) can be found for as low as 30k. The other problem I have found is either going an auto or manual. The XT being a 4spd has left me dying for a manual. Unfortunately there are hardly any manual cars around in either FG or BFMKII. I might end up having to buy interstate to find a low km manual. I dont know whether I can justify an extra 10k for a car that's only a year younger. It is the FG, and a lot better/quicker turbo. But for 10k more and without BFMKII options like colour screen, premo sound, leather.. is the FG really worth it? I wont be buying till another two months so maybe prices will change a bit and more cars will enter the market. I might end up getting a ZF box as a last resort and I will definitely be looking at getting the car to around 300rwkw in its future. decisions decisions.

haha, still better than nothing, im still waiting on getting my T - 60 days and counting

did u see my car? sorry I didnt see the ute, there was also a bunch of holdens near by, at first I thought it was some sort of ford vs Expensive Daewoo stand off then some horrible music came on from one of the sh*tboxes (looked like a datson or something) and they left. I called out to the fords as I drove by, but the guy who talked to me wasnt part of the forums lol, so I drove off.

spotted 3 xrt's at maccas tonight, I was in the black xt

im eyeing off a bfmkii manual with 77k on it but still a little bit off committing financially (2 months away). someone here mentioned 100k is the biggie, what involves and how much $$ is expected on a service of a turbo?

ah well, its alright mate at least my 6.9 second xr6t will stay in aus when im done with it by Christmas. I'll retain the king status here. luckily I can get some cash from my dad whos a plumber too.
