Am I lost? Is this a HSV forum???
-
YES! I have never done it but, I have just ordered my XR6 ute. Somitmes I need to carry a 3mtr long channle. There were 2 ways to to it: 1: I have gone for hard lid with roll bar. I will make a steel platform which will clamp on to the roll bar using exahust clamps with the u bolts. I will then fit a Heavy Duty tow bar to the back and have a tee made that slots into the goose neck. 2: If you go for one peice hard lid, ford have accesoriy roof racks for the utes in the spare parts accesories list. Get one of them and then do the tow bar thing the same............... well that's what I am gunna do anyway

Sorry, it is very hard to see sarcasim on chat boards.............. I think it is a joke that you dont get it, and think that ford need to be booted up the bum. You pay $5000 extra for bigger calipers, but you dont get anything back for the brakes that would have been on the car anyway, so it means these brakes are really about $8000. For $8000 you would get 6 spot front 4 spot rear, braided lines and about $2000 change if you went through the after market suppliers (some of which supply FPV in the first place!)for the same system!
-
You greedy people, Ford are charitable enough to let you only pay $5000 for a brake kit and you want braided lines as well! if you look at a site called braidedhoses.com.au you will be able to find someone in your area that can make them.
-
They will pobably be "Limited Numbers". Limited to as many as they can sell!
-
Get your priorities right mate, you can live in a car, but you cant drive a house!
-
From what ive seen, you cant beat the 50th for value, but you wont get a discount, as they are already cheap. I did the ring around all over for my 50th ute and couldnt get any dealer to move on price. I know you want sedan, but theroy is same. Rplacement value rrp of my ute (once all 50ths are sold) would be $54950. I got it for $40000. This is cheaper than a normal turbo ute. You will find that demos will be about the same price a a 50th, but with no options.many dealers are hiding thier 50ths so that they can move thier old stock first, and will only talk about the 50th if the customer already knows about it. You may find you get a better trade on a non 50th model. The other thing with a demo, the warranty normal starts on the first day of rego. so if you buy a 12 month ould demo, you will only get 2 years warranty.

well hard to argue with that, but they wont work too well there! You got all weekend to fit them!
-
CHLAXN, you want to get the Brembos, but have you thought about the PBR M Series? I had them on my last XR6t (ute will get them first week I get it) and they were tops! Pads were cheaper than the Brembos to and becuse of the design the get better wear. I see SennaT on the forum sells them now.

I am trying to descide which is better. Touch screen or remote? Touch screen I think is easy to use, and looks good and has no remote to loose. However, you have to lean foward to touch the screen, which makes it hard to use while drving I think? Remote control, is more conveniant while drvings, can use after eating a bucket of KFC, and not mess up the dash (just the reomote) but I fear it may be hard to use, like it texting on a mobile Would like to hear what you have and how easy it is to use. Please let me know what brand too

Need bigger spoiler to keep car from floating but this inturn slows the car down so need more power. I doubt that the ford rear spoliers would do much for the xr's maybe create less drag, but nothing on the down force??
-
I could be wrong, but the diffs and the gearboxes for both Expensive Daewoo and Ford, come out of the same factory? So one wyould think they would be as strong as eachother?? If HSV can run them so Can FPV! my 2 cents worth

I still recon this is one of the CHEAPEST looking motors I have seen for a long time! I like the look of the N/A Coyote engine. Why couldnt they use abit mote imagination with the top of the motor? I know may of you dont care what an engine looks like aslong as it performs, but I would like both! A

I agree with the statment. I have Brembo discs of F1 Cars (prior to carbon fibre rotors) and you can see that the cross drilled holes all have cracks starting in them. This is not a problem becuse they get thrown out (or sold to rave fans for paper weights) after each race. I dont reccomend cross drilled for street or race use. I Like the idea of Dimpled and cross drilled, more for a visual affect. I have not seen any data that says cross drilled is better than slots only. THe other factor is, how many V8 Supercars, still have cross drilled rotors, I may be wrong, but I think it is 0! If it was me I would buy DBA's over Brembos, for a few reasons, one of them is that DBA is an Aussie Company and they have been designed for Aussie Roads!

I'am a cheap ass, that's why I went for 50TXR! 50TXR = $415 XR50T = $2295 THought I would take the cheap way out again!Having said that XR50T mat look better! See in septmber Qld Transport is having for 1 week only 7 digit number plates. only $3395!~ Have fun with new car!
-
To the latest fg xr6 turbos still have a t56 or is it a new box? As to converting manual to auto, I am a mechanic, but have never attemted this on a modern car with ecu controled auto. I would sujest you keep looking for a manual until you find one. I am sure you should be able to find a good manual. good luck and have fun!
-
Well my car is getting built next month, maybe you can put one in down the line. You'll know my ute its the white one!
-
I think it would be a cost reduction. The cost of tooling up for plastic tanks is exspensive, but then they would cost allmost nothing to make. Oh well wonder if I can fit an early FG one to mine??
-
At the risk of being abused............ Is the top of the engine an airfilter cover off a KIA bus??? Cant wait to see these cars, and maybe buy one, but I have to say dissapointed with the look of the top of the motor. Whats wrong with Alloy?? On the up side gives the after marketers somthing extra to design and sell, maybe even a Shaker??
-
You dont live in north queensland........ what comes after T Model??
-
Saw a 50th XR6T ute at the dealer the other day, and it appers that the intercooler has plastic tanks, like the modern radiators. is this correct? Bet you its hard to get a mirror finish on black plastic! I know that it probably is ok, but looks sooo cheap!
-
That really pisses me off! Im I correct in thinking, that maybe, just maybe there could be a school, tafe, uni, or trade school somwhere in Australia, that could use a car later than 1990 to train on?? I think the manafacturers could cut the vin number out and destroy the compliance tags, then donate them to help train students! I saw the pics of the PBR Corvettes too, and thought the same thing then!
-
I saw a XR6T the other day, fresh of the transporter, best of both worlds, Had the Full Leather on the bottom of back seat and Part Leather Non Turbo style on Back on Back seat........must have been a friday build! I saw the numbers, but cant remember. about 5146 50th's all up for all 6 models. Least is the Turbo Utes at 450. I will try and get more info on others next week.
-
Probably some, top cop has been on this forum, seen the speculation about "Tunned Cop Cars', and he has launched a 3 level indepentdent investigation into if there is any truth to the mater................all on tax payers money?? Just a theory!
-
To change the load rating of the Ute will be difficult but not impossible. As the same body came in one tonner, you should be able to get it up graded if you jump through hoops. You will have to do your home work and apply to the department of transport before you do anything, and may need an engineering certificate. You will have to check what parts are different between the 1 tonner and the turbo. You will probably find that it will be diff (bigger bearing or axles) springs shocks etc. Brake should not be a problem. You will have to put 1 tonne wheels on it (will they fit over he turbos brakes? Now brakes could be a problem) and light truck tyres. You will then possibly be defected if the cops pull you over with non 1 tonne wheels and tyres on it! In Queensland if you are approved to upgrade the load of a vehicle, you can never reduce it, it will always be a 1 tonner For tax it may be easier to keep a log book for 12 weeks and be done with it. If you really use it for work, you should be able to claim. To and from work is not normally considered tax deductible travel or use of car.
