entire motor that is why I am so confused..

Hello all, I have a stock 03 BA XR6T with a T5 that has a boost issue that after months and months of research cannot be rectified. I am going to take my car to my uncles friends workshop who has a dyno to sus out the issue and I figured while it was there to get a tune done. I am not looking to get any huge power gains just a decent tune to go with the stock set-up. Question 1: I have seen afew early model capa tuners on ebay that are blank or have 1 or 2 flashes left in them.. The guy who has the dyno has not worked with XR6T's before and said if I can supply him the hardware required he can put it on the dyno and tune it up for me. He has no software whatsoever, does he need software to tune the car with just the capa box? What are my options here? Question 2: Are the early model capa flash tuners ok for the outcome I am looking for? I have done no mods and am not planning on doing any apart from the centre muffler that has been removed. Any advice is VERY apreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have a similar problem, as soon as my boost starts winding up the car backfires and breaks down and then goes into a shake almost like it is in a 'safe mode' then afew revs gets it back to normal, happens to me as soon as I come into boost..

Hey guys, Ive done afew searches but cant really find anything similar to my question. My question is, I have a completely stock (centre muffler removed) 5 speed ba xr6t, and I want to purchase an ebay monza cooler that fits directly on to the stock setup. Will I need a tune after doing this, or will this be okay since my car is completely stock? Thanks in advance, P

Losing Power/boost Under Full Throttle As If Choking :(

Exact same problem I am having, although mines tottaly stock.. Did you end up working out what the problem was? I replaced my coils with second hand ones roughly 8 months ago, changed the spark plugs, they are currently gapped at 1.1 which I was told was stock gapping.. -
I have same problem but mines a completely stock 02 5 speed xr6t

no same sort of power, doesnt happen all the time, but when it does it really struggles to wind boost without backfiring in 1st and 2nd..
-
Should any of this come up on the diagnostics though? It went for a service about a month ago, and the diagnostics came up fine..

03 ba xr6t 5spd, and its stock as a rock!

Hello all, Past month or so as soon as I wind up boost on the car, more frequently in first and second the car is backfiring loudly and multiple times looses power, then boosts up again... normally does this when its really cold winter air outside, happens about 60% of the time, and more often when the car is still cold.. Any suggestions/ideas? It looses power backfires, then idles really sh*t afterwards, untill I give it a decent rev then goes back to normal... Ive replaced the spark plugs afew weeks ago, and the coils replaced about 6 months ago.. Any help apreciated, Cheers

took out centre peice today, so its definately not the rear muffler, so does it mean its most likely the cat? -

ok guys, I had a proper look today and yes the CENTRE muffler was removed, yeah I know laugh it up lol... anyway had a look at the rear muffler and have no idea how I can take it off? from what ive gathered its either the cat or the rear muffler that could be causing this?
