well, the guy who did the mods is CONVINCED its not the bottom end, he got it up on the hoist this arvo, had a good listen to it while it was running, and he's gonna crack open the 'box tomorrow and have a look! I'm really hoping it is just the flex plate, I can't afford a whole rebuild right now! the last thing I want is for a $70k+ car to sit in my garage for the next 6 months while I save for parts
-
yes it does, when it first starts up its bad, but once in drive and moving, its ok..then when I coast the noise comes back, and starts clunking again! what are you thinking??
-
Yeh not good, they checked the ECU and found its been flashed, so naturally they voided all warranty issues, and said its not the flex plate / bolts, and that I need a whole new bottom end! they quoted me $14000 for the new engine from melb, or $12k for a second hand one! if I wanna just rebuild the bottom end, its gonna cost $8600!! so the guy who did the mods wasn't happy, he went and had a chat to them, and he rekons its an oil gear issue, and nothing the mods did should affect that. not only that, but he also doesn't think its the bottom end that's gone, because of the noises its making. its more of an infrequent knock rather than a rythemic knock that I typical bottom end would have with issues. so he's gonna pull the box out tomorrow, and have a look, and I'm gonna pray hard that it is the flex plate, rather than me needing a whole new bottom end! cause I think its obvious I don't just have 8 grand sitting around, so he also said if worse comes to worst, fight them for it, cause they need to prove its the mods that did the damage, so I spoke with my dad, and he says that he's willing to take them to court to get this warranty issue sorted out. I'm also gonna look at insurance as a last resort, cause I can only ask the question, but if I need 8 grand to fix it, I don't have it so its gonna have to wait! much as its gonna kill me, I got no other options.. I drove it back from the dealer to the mechanics place, and the noise was still there, I dont even know if they even pulled the 'box out to see if it was a flex plate / bolt?! ford said straight out its the bottom end and I have to get a new one, or get this one fixed. so I'm hoping that they find something when they rip the 'box out tomorrow, then I'll keep you all posted!

From Pondering A Fg F6....... To Ordering One.
YOZ-F6 replied to timetaker's topic in FPV PERFORMANCE INC.
Go for the turbo-back system, change the cat and everything, you'll get much better flow that way with a higher flowing cat and better mufflers. I went t=for the 4" dump off the turbo, hi-flow cat and twin magnaflow mufflers into the standard tip though. I don't want the boys in blue to pull up behind me and see two big 3" pipes sticking out the back! I've seen the twin pipes setup, and in my humble opinion, doesn't go with the design of the rear end. All you're doing with that setup is letting everyone know you have modded your exhaust! But that's just my opinion! -
F6 for sure! I love the sound of a V8, but I couldn't go past the power of the F6. I'm not too sure how the new one goes, but if you're looking at spending 10k on mods, then you'll definitly have close to a 10 second daily driver! power gains vary from 400rwkw to over 500 with the kind of money you have to spend! I just love the sound of the turbo spooling up and the mad acceleration that you get from the F6! like timetaker said perviously, the V8 sound coupled with the whine of the supercharger might just tempt officer plod to turn his head! with a car like that you wanna fly beneath the radar! I like the V8's but I LOVE the F6!!

that's such good news, thanks heaps guys. you have no idea how much I've been stressing all weekend about the possible damages I've done! has anyone else had this problem with their beasts? or just me? will Ford fix this as part of their warranty? the car is only a year old? or will they wipe their hands off it cause its been modded?
-
Thanks for the reply! yep, its the zf auto. my understanding of internal combustion engines and their components are just theoretical for now, so I'm not that comfortable doing a flex plate in the 'box myself! I'm having it towed tomorrow after work, and the regular guy I take it to should be able to suss it out in no time! I thought it was something bad like a blown piston or something! I hope it can be fixed easily!

Hi everyone, I was driving back on the freeway on the weekend, and when I stopped at the exit, I heard a terrible noise coming from the front of the car. at first I thought it was the car in front of me, having bad engine problems...if only! so after I overtook him, I heard the same noise at the next set of traffic lights. so I pulled over, and popped the hood, and saw nothing out of place, checked underneath and the exhaust, cat, and dump pipe are all intact. so I limped straight home, and parked it off for the rest of the weekend. Does ANYONE have any idea as to what it could be? the noise is coming from the rear of the engine block, can be described as a LOUD clunking / banging when the engine is at idle. seems to go away when I accellerate, but its really bad when I slow down. There are no engine codes, no lights on the dash, my dad thinks it could be a pully of some sort come loose inside? since its the weekend, I'm taking it back to the guys who did the mods on it on monday, cause I'm just assuming that FPV won't touch it cause its been flashed. so anyone know what could be happening? I was going to do a recording of the sound, but its so loud, my neighbours actually came out to see what was wrong when I pulled up. so out of respect for them I'm gonna leave it for tomorrow.

Tell me about it! This has been going on for years! nevermind the flagship of their fleet in AUS, the Falcon XR6 or XR8, lets sell big NON-4wd cars to soccer mums! what has happened to the world? nowadays they have to draw all their focus on safety, bluetooth and ipod connectivity to sell cars! nevermind the re-engineering of the aussie 4.0l and and new design of the chassis and bodywork to make a more comfortable ride, it seems the public are more interested in turning down their aircon with their voice and which car will be more "green"?!?! Don't get me wrong, one of the reasons I bought my car was because it was one of the firsts to have the 5-star ANCAP safety rating, and that will certainly prove effecient in the future, and like you said harry, its all up to the woman now. no way they will buy a big aussie 8 with 270kw or a turbo 6 or anything like that, they just don't have the passion that men do for cars! and I think that ford aus need to start looking back at their real target audience, the person who actually will buy the car! I'm willing to place a good wager on people who do own these cars, don't have them as family vehicles anymore, I'll bet it'll just be DAD's car, and mum takes the kids to footy practice in her volvo XC-90.

This looks like something coming out of the FPV woodworks?? anyone have any ideas where this came from? I found it on a forum at work...
-
that's a very good point! I think that the Fords are so under-rated its actually quite sad. I popped off an e-mail to FPV HQ a while back about how lacking their advertising is, in relation to their flagship FOV, the Boss. Only recently since the S/C came out, you wouldn't hear much about them. I just watched 2 races of the latest V8 cars races, 5 & 6 from NZ and I was shocked not to see any ads for the FPV's? surely if they don't want to advertise during prime time, THAT would be the place for a good ad, like the Alan Moffat one?? and that's just the V8, since I started my research into the F6, the only information I got was from this forum, and the Ford Forum as well, I'd only seen ONE ad for the f6, and that was in a QANTAS magazine?? is there something wrong with them? I mean, why wouldn't you want to get the image of these cars out there a bit more? such a joy to drive, insanly quick, and hardly ever any problems! someone needs to give FPV Advertising a good kick in the bum, cause clearly they've fallen asleep at the wheel..so to speak!!

Such a douche! He's just jealous, I rekon Hammond with his love for muscle cars should have done a review! if I ever go to work in london, I am so taking my car with me, and laying a "darkie" in front of Jezza's house!
-
Must be nice to have a dealer l ike that! I had some mods done and I'm having some problems with my BOV and they said because I have flashed it, they won't cover it under warranty! even if its just a crappy BOV from ford, I have to get an aftermarket one! wish my dealer was like yours
-
thanks mate, I ordered one in today from turbosmart, the kompact dual port, quoted $250 for it, hopefully it'll arrive before wed night??!!
-
Does anyone have an idea if this is the right size? I think 25mm is the right one?? my hoses are too stiff and I don't have verniers at home so I can't check..
-
26 bought my first FG F6 thanks to a hefty work bonus for me!
-
Ford do any updates that come from the factory regarding software, but if you tell them your car has been flashed they won't touch the engine! Just MAKE SURE you tell them cause my dealer said that if they have to flash it and you've had any mods done like injectors and the like, you'll be taking your car home on a tow truck!

As I'm to understand, most of the posts from this topic are from the east coast? haven't you guys got ethanol in your premium fuel to boost the octane in it? we over here in the perth don't have easy access to ethanol fuel, so perhaps that coupled with the colder temperatures are causing some sort of fuel/air mixture issues? plus when I get my car tuned, the tuner said that at initial startup, it will run lean, and now its getting colder here, I've noticed it too, when it starts up it actually stalled once, but that's normal! after it warms up... its all good!!
-
I got the same colour, its such a sexy looking car. I just love it! very nice choice mate!!
-
The sillhoette is awesome, its what I have, looks great at night, but during the day, EVERY speckle of dust is visible! The white with the Dark argent rims, and pitch black tint is also very sexy! if I had a choice I would have definitly gotten the white! but yeh they all do look good, I rekon the black and white colours are the best though, no offence to anyone with other colours, its just my own opinion!
-
Yeh, the Aussie one doesn't really count, I'd like to see it go up against the likes of Ferarri, Aston Martin, Mercedes, BMW and all their beloved Euro cars, put them to shame I rekon it would! I just saw an episode of season 11, where they actually flew a new V35 Skyline out from Japan just so it could go around their track! that's really not cool. and flying a 20 something year old Opel from the middle of Africa just so Hammond can call it "Oliver" isnt ludicrous?! Still no reply from the BBC but I'm gonna keep trying, even if I have to go there and punch Jeremy Clarkson in his yellow smoke stained teeth so hard, his pubic arrangement he calls hair falls out! If anyone knows of someone in the UK, perhaps a formere FPV owner, please let me know, and I'll see if we can get them working on the BBC from the inside! Its just such a shame to see such a good car not get any recognition. I mean, I like the ad with Allan Moffet with the GT, and I am well aware that aussies love their GT's, but times are changing, and with that we need to start getting this car a little more out in the open. I havent seen any ads for the F6 as yet, I've only encountered ONE on a QANTAS magazine a while back. If it wasn't for me actually going into my local dealer and waiting around to speak to a salesman, I would'nt have even known there was a new F6! I went in there for the GT and walked out with an F6! and what a good choice! don't get me wrong, I love the GT, I rekon it sounds great and everything, but compared to the F6, I rekon its stealing too much of the limelight. A friend of mine who happens to be a GT owner agrees with me, his only motive for buying the GT is cause his dad had one when he was a kid, and now he can afford one of his own. even he rekons that the F6 is dynomite compared to the GT! so whay has FPV also not getting this car out more? I wonder if they kicked up a stink when they saw the Monaro all those years ago on Top Gear?? Hmmmm..I feel another e-mail coming on...
-
Hello all! Lately, I have found myself with a LOT of spare time on a recent trip away from home, with a LOT of Top Gear, in fact, all 16 seasons to be more precise. The thing that sparked the topic for this topic was that over the past few weeks of watching every episode of Top Gear (british version, not AUS version) up till season 10, they never ONCE featured an FPV. Not even close. from about season 3, they started with the Monaros, and every season after that they have featured an "Aussie Car" on their show. this got me a bit upset after a while, cause you see the evolution of the monaro, transition to the Clubsport, then to the R8 and NOWHERE is there a mention of the FPV after all those years? Why is that? I wrote to Top Gear britain and asked them of this, and gave them a brief undown of the latest FPV's the GT the F6 and so on, but they are yet to reply, if they ever will? I kow that Top Gear Aus did a comparision between the R8 and the F6 a while back, but why haven't they done it in britain? its not like they can't export one from here to a british ford dealership, like they did with the holdens and then badge those as Vauxhauls? then they have the audacity of saying that the rest of the world doesn't produce fast 4 door saloons, like the europeans Audis, Beemers and Mercedes? are you freakin kidding me?! as you can probably can tell that this has got me pretty upset, so I'm waiting to hear the response from them to see what their deal is! I know they might be a bunch of stupid old farts and are oblivious to what you can call a good value for money saloon car, I mean, they think a good saloon car is a mercedes, or aston martin, or maserati, and look at the price you are paying for those? if anyone has any thoughts, ideas or comments please lemme know, I'm keen to see how many of our members would like to see an FPV in their studio? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see an Aussie car make it all the way there, even if it is a Holden. But I'm still left asking myself...What the Fudge?!
-
Has the yellow tooth old bufoon finally parked his heiney in an FPV? no wonder I saw a pig flying this morning..
-
Yeh theres definitly something going wrong with this car. ever since I got it there have been a few issues with it, brakes, stereo, and now the heart and soul of the monster is giving me troubles..but I'm gonna soldier on! I'm def gonna take it to simon when I get some time, I'm sick of hearing all these results people are getting from mods and I'm not seeing the same. its annoying really cause I paid substantially for the upgrades! although grenville did say that there were some issues with the actuator, even before they started, cause it wasn't running how he thought, even the guy at Park ford said that it might be a "funny" motor, these things happen, and every motor is different. just wanna get to the bottom of this.. as for the Expensive Daewoo tuner, yeh I'm never taking it back to them again, I wasn't happy that it was there in the first place, its more location than anything is why they chose that tuner? but I'm pretty sure xspeed is round there somewhere too? anyway, I'll go to simon, and see if he can fix...DOH!! I just know what he's gonna say too.. "shoulda brought it here first!" haha!
