  1. I contemplated that, but the tuner recommended I upgrade the main shaft, as he's seen a few half shafts let go when the sticky tyres come into play. Besides, I won't drive around regularly with drag radials on anyway, so I wanted to do a run completely in street trim.
  2. Mine is an Auto ZF6, putting out about 450rwhp, but I havent taken it back to the track in a long time. The 12.2 run was complete street trim, including stock tyres at 38psi (for the tyres!) I might do another run when I get a chance and see if maybe I was doing something wrong.
  3. I'm also a bit sceptical. Mine stock ran a best of 12.8, and with a custom tune, exhaust and turbo mods, the best I got out of her was 12.2 on a good night. So 12.13 is a really good time but there are possibly some mods been done that the owner is unaware of. Especially if you bought the car second hand. Take it to Ford and they can tell you whether the ECU has been flashed and how many times.
  4. I think the calculation of horsepower that I read was meant to be on a standard dynomometer. I'm sure there would be some sort of engine dyno that would be able to measure the power, just not sure if they bothered with it?
  5. I agree with FPV TRANNY, sell the car to a good mate for like $100, then attend court, upon which you can honestly tell the magistrate the car is no longer in your possession. Once the fine is passed down and your day in court is done, buy the car back for the same amount, and all should be well in the world again. Also, since he does have your history, if there are no drink driving offences, you can try and use that in your favor as well, saying to the magistrate that you can be slightly irresponsible at times, but never as bad enough as to drive under the influence of alcohol. All the best mate, hope it works out well! Where you located? I'll come cheer for you in court if you're in WA! Anything for a fellow car lover and FPV owner!
  6. Cheers wombat, It's crazy how much power they make, and an interesting fact I read today was that they are only roughly 8000hp, the true figure is unknown since there's no Dyno big enough to actually measure their power!! What a feeling that must be to drive that!
  7. Hi guys, I know a top fuel dragster can beat a super car / F1 over the 1/4 mile from a standing start, even if the other car had a 200kmph rolling start. My question is does anyone know where I can find footage of such an event? Apparently it was done and was on the web for a while, but if can't find it anywhere! Cheers guys!
  8. I think e85 is a different mixture of ethanol and petroleum to burn differently to make more power. I'm not sure if we over here in the west have e85 like they do over east. I was speaking to a mate of mine running a GT-R34, and he's getting his e85 from QLD? if anyone here in the west can comment as to whether we get it or not and where from?! Other thing to be concerned about is that because they burn differently, everytime you change fuels between e85 and normal 98 RON, you have to change the tune of the engine, or you could end up with a catastrpophic failure! Simon should be able to explain in greater detail as he's the pro! Hope this helped!
  9. I was running 19psi with the factory dump valve, but it was boost spiking quite badly, so it was de-tuned back to 17psi..but I have since replaced the blow-off but have not been back for a tune..can't justify the $1000 for just a gain of only 2psi or more! When I save up a bit more cash, I'm thinking of replacing the stock cooling system to eliminate the heat soak issue, as recommended by XFT, and I'll have her re-tuned then!!
  10. Yep, that's pretty much what happened to me here in the west (go figure!) There was miscommunication between the tuner and the guy who did the modifications. So the tune was around $1000 for the day, and still had to go back a few times because of boost spiking issues! Luckily I didnt need to pay for the other times it went back!
  11. Same problem in my F6..I already checked with Ford, and they had an appraisal done on it from the warranty clerk. basically its wear and tear of the seat so they won't replace it. I spoke with an upholsterer and he said they can rectify it with "pretty much the same leather" for a couple of hundred bucks. I have also gotten some cracks in the seat where you slide into it on the driver's side, around where the tag saying "SRS AIRBAG" and this is one of the things that can't be avoided, apparently.
  12. Start with a full turbo back exhaust and go from there. The place I went to also installed new injectors, fuel pump, and some wastegate modifications, plus a tune. You'll need a tune regardless of what you do, so better to do it all in one hit, then you only pay for a single tune. Depending on the tune, and how much boost you want to run, you should be able to get around the 350rwkw mark. Depending on where you go for your modifications, you will be looking at around $5k + including all the parts and labor. so budget well, as from what I understand, some tunes cost around the $1000 mark every time you take it there..again this will be dependant on the arrangement you have with your tuner! Good luck!
  13. Hello all, I have a friend with a 2010 Ford Fiesta, and she would like to have her speakers in the doors replaced. Short of taking off the trim, can someone please tell me what size the factory ones are? I'd rather remove the trim once, for install, to reduce the risk of damage. Also, if anyone has done this install, which speakers did you find the best to use? Thanks for any help guys! Regards, Yoz.
