  1. Yeah, you're probably right. Heres a link to the product on their website: AutotecnicA.com.au » Featured Products » XR6 XR8 Engine Accessories So, a better choice sounds like to go to ford/ebay and get a typhoon lower snorkel and box, and then K&N filter (which I was already planning on getting). Would doing any of this void the warranty I got with the car?
  2. It's $279. I saw that it's an Autechnica..... I haven't really heard of that brand before. I think I've seen there stuff in supercheap before. Anyway, I can't find any reviews on the net. I also can't find whether the top snorkel fits in the filter box or if you need to remove it. I would think that if you remove it the pod is taking air only from behind the headlight, which would seem to be a step backwards when I've read on this forum that a good mod is to get the xr8 box and lower intake and add the typhoon upper snorkel to increase the amount of air into the box. I could get it and see if I notice any positive improvement. But it could also prove to be a waste of money.
  3. Hey guys, Noticed that Autobarn have a 'performance induction kit' for the BA-BF Falcon on pg 6 of their newest catalogue. Anyone have any experience with this particular kit? don't know about the filter it comes with, but maybe throw on a K&N pod filter and it might be ok? Apparently its designed for the car so im assuming it should fit without any issues? Also would there be any noticeble difference between a standard box and the pod? I'm sure this has been discussed countless times before
  4. Hey guys, Been driving the xr6t for almost a week now and luv it! I do have a very newbie question regarding the tiptronic gear box. Having never had a tip before (and only driven stick a few times as all family cars have been auto), I've been driving it around and would like to know peoples experiences of it and the rev range you try to keep it in. I've been speaking to a couple of guys who have tiptronic gearboxes, and their approaches are different. One guy who has a Ford BF told me he tries to keep the revs in the 2k range (he has a 4speed auto)as he found when he reved low it would sometimes change to a lower gear, whereas the other like to keep his car (not a ford) in the 1300-1400 range (don't know what speed his is) as he was worried it would be too hard on the box. I've read the max's in the manual, but can't find any optimal ranges. Looking for ok fuel economy, but with good performance (without unneccessary wear). My old car was an 80's auto 4spd Honda, and it sat in the 2500 range constantly.
  5. Ford got back to me late today, Its a . . . . . . 2005 BF XR6T. So the mystery is solved. 4DZILR - it's got 50,000kms. I think it can be seen in one of the photos I put up. Thanks for all the help guys.
  6. No it doesn't have the model. I've emailed ford and requested confirmation. Have to wait and see.
  7. I did a revs check on the car before I got it. Engine number matches the chassis number. XF FALCON - The vehicle labels are on the front side of the drivers door. It has trim as BA, if that's of any help. WORM - Agree about steering wheel..... thinking maybe something like this: FORD FPV BA-BF, TERRITORY STEERING WHEEL - Black - eBay Steering Wheels, Horns, Interior, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 10-Jul-10 15:47:34 AEST)
  8. OK, so the steering wheel I believe is plastic, although its quite soft, And a couple of people I've had in the car had varying opinions. There wasn't an air vent at knee height. And there aren't any dots on the speedo. Attached are some more photos.
  9. Ah, good good. Not that I was gonna be unhappy either way. So when the rego is due, do I need to have that changed (rego sticker says a ba mkii). When I did the insurance last night I have it insured as a BF. So, what was the major differences (good and bad) between a ba mkii and a bf? just cosmetic or was there different engine internals. Just incase (inevitably) I want to add some mods. I also noticed, when looking for a plate inside the engine bay, it has an upper snorkel attached to the airbox that sits on the top front right hand (looking front on).
  10. Ok here are some more snaps of the inside......
  11. Thanks for the replys guys. The build sticker on the inside of the drivers side front pillar states trim BA. Attached are photos of the front bumper and rear tailikghts, as I read somewhere the tails were different between BA mk2 and BF mk1.
  12. Hey guys, just became an '05 xr6t owner today. Very happy about that. Awesome, awesome car. But I do have a question, and this may sound very newbish.... When I picked up the car today, I was talking to the salesman as I was leaving, and mentioned that I had a friend who has an 07 BF XR6 and what a wrap he gave me about getting an XR6T even though it was the older BA. To my surprise the salesman told me my car was a BF as it has the 6spd ZF sequential auto, and only BF's have them. The cars rego states BA mk2 and the vehicle ID label on the inside of the drivers door states trim BA. Even their website had it under BA mk2. I'm not mad either way, just curious. Do I have a BA mk2 or a BF? Edit: The forms I have from the dealer have Prod date as 01 OCT 2005.
