How would I test for the diff bearings without putting it on a hoist? sorry not a car God just a graphic designer

Hey all this would be my first topic after about 5 hours of reading the forum . Im looking to buy 2005 MK 2 BA XR6 Turbo (Auto) that just clocked the 100k mark. I need some advice in what to look out for / what to hear for / what to check for. This would help me out greatly. Thanks for reading.
