  8. I get this in an fg when its real cold outside for the first boost, I've been told its normal.

I would have thought reversing polarity would make more of a banging noise rather than any meaningful sound, cause its trying to reverse cycles of sound waves coming through it while also cancelling a bunch of sound waves out... kind of like poor mans base.. but it would not cause any damage. Be good to hear from someone here who understands speakers to let us know whats happening.
  10. Exactly Wingnut, everytime someone mentions are car that isn't a Ford here, people seem to go out of their way to mention how sh*t it is... 10-15 year old M3's and S4's are still better built and are nicer to drive than my fg t.
  11. True, but that 30k wont make up for the millions more that BMW put into r&d and refinement on the M5 over Ford and the GT-E.
  12. fg xrt manual w/ 60k on it, I average 11.2 with a 70% bias towards freeway driving. Freeway only av about 9. City only av about 14/15. I dont drive for fuel economy that's for sure, it gets regular squirts.
  13. Real strange, why would an insurance company write-off a car with minor damage like this? If he didnt have insurance, why wouldn't you fix it instead of selling it half price?

  15. Yep I have the same noises, seems people are talking about two different noises here? one from the left rear suspension over bumps, and a noise that sounds like LSD windup around slow corners? (I have both).
  16. Dont forget the I6 is very unlikely to pass euro V emmisions, so it couldn't be sold anywhere over there from the factory at least.
  17. Repco tools are rubbish, dont bother buying cheap tools, buy them once so you never have to replace them. Kingchrome are not as good as they used to be, I've broken a few of their spanners. Sidcrome I've found to be good, im a big fan of their ratchets. A few other brands SP tools, are cheap but suprisingly good so far for me and T&E Tools socket sets aren't too bad.

  19. I have the same troubles changing into 2nd, its a much slower change than the other gears. Seems like its alot harder to slot in than other performance manuals I've driven, then you have to change your driving style to get rid of all the driveline shunt. On a side note, im I the only one with an fg manual whos clutch goes TAP.tap..tap...tap which you disengage it when the box is under load at low speed?
  20. Why do you have to get quotes? They should be doing that. Also, tell them it is undriveable and needs to be towed. A month for assesment? that's bs, get onto them and tell them to come pick it up. My experiences with AAMI have been nothing but positive, someone ran into me, I called them on sat, monday a tow truck turned up at my house, I chose a repairer out of the 3 quotes near me that THEY got and 3 weeks later it was all repaired.
  21. When did you do the gearbox oil change? Notice any difference?
  22. Solid advice Hiddeous I'l look into leaks. Mic, the thing is sometimes during a drive it does NOT hang at all, sometimes it does every change. Certainly not normal.
  23. Even if it doesnt do it all the time? Sometimes I can turn the car off and the hanging and tractoring will go for a while. Sure makes things interesting when your driving around a car park at 1500 revs with your foot off the throttle.
  24. My manual Fg turbo rev hangs badly when changing gears, say if I shift at 2000, when I have the clutch in it will stay at 2000 until I let the clutch out. Also, it tractors badly when I back off the throttle it will slowly decrease revs until 1500-1750 and drive along as if I have my foot on the throttle untill I get to a hill or touch the brakes. It doesnt happen all the time, but is becoming more and more often. Taking the advice from the forum and ford I had the throttle body cleaned (didnt have the time myself), which made no difference. I've also reset the TPS. Any ideas? Is this a warrenty issue? The car has 60k on it.
