Congrats on the new beast. When I picked mine up 3000k ago she would hunt when just on a light throttle off idle, so checked every connector under the bonnet and removed and reseated the connector on the throttle body and must say improved things. Got to say the car is getting better the more I drive it. Biggy

Hey Scotty, mate 6 speed or 5 speed lets get real for one, 5 speeds are plenty with the T it has plenty of torque and power. 6 speed is just a sales gimmick domost of use unless we are doing maybe Targa Tasmania really going to need that extra cog in the format of a close ratio box or like the bombadore a tall overdrive that is of no use except in the N.T. where u can get some nice high cruise speeds. Go test drive the auto and manual and for a good run and see how you feel. Biggy

Whats your average fuel comsumption like?
Biggy replied to dutchie's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
On my third tank full got 12.4 that was a combination of Hwy, town, country roads, with some slow 2nd gear work on a back road looking at the snow around Bowral a slow trip down Macquire pass then spirited run thru Berry and Kangaroo Valley and the back road thru Thirlmere and home so was quite happy with that. But I guess I will see that get worse as time goes by. Biggy -
Hi well having driven the manual now for a week I can say I am happy with it , just got back from a drive through the southern highlands today and it was great maybe a little tight as yet but hey its only a week old . But at the end of the day its your choice you have to be happy with what you get. The SSS is still an auto box and after driving both in demo cars I still went with the manual. Good luck.

Well have had it for a week and about 800ks. It is nice and comfy and plenty of leg room for the kids in the back. Handling needs to be tightened up a bit and feels heavy but hey when you get out of a rex it is understandable. It drives well but does have the clunk in the drive line but only if you stuff the gear changes up a bit. Happy with the power , it does haul when you put the boot in.I think a set of shocks and sway bars will be all I do. The exhaust note aint bad for a standard system. So over all have to say I'm quite happy with her and looking forward to some spirited driving on some back roads to enjoy her potential. And I love this site.

Worked out there for 28 years and the only vehicles I have ever seen are Nissan Patrols and 4wd utes. And I do work nights often. Mind u it would be fun to take the t out there but SACL would book u for speeding.

Well picked her up at 9 in the morning and my son loves it , has turned his back on the rex now. Is really a nice car will have to see if I got the NCO that Ford have been giving away with great gusto. Seriously I like it and the luxury pack is certainly worth it. Looks like my car just broke the drought, has not stopped raining. Now for some pics if I can work out how to put them on.

Sancho, I'd love to see the pics of your OBD interface. If it's what I'm thinking of, my friend has made one ofr his 200 SX and tells me that the BA's have the same interface as them. Apparently it's a little bit hush hush - as in Ford won't tell you anything about it. We hooked his up to his notebook in the car and you can do everything! It's amazing. You can shut down a cylinder at a time, drop or raise the revs, turn the thermo fans on and off, real time fuel map logging and all sorts of other crazy sh*t. We are going to be testing the 0 - 100k functions that the software has were it uses the ABS / wheel speed sensors to time the exact 0 - 100 times! He made his own interface using some CAT 5 cable and a special plug, what are you using? P.S, we are averaging about 12.2 Lt / 100 kays, but get's up to as much as 15 - 16 when giving it the stick, but as low as 9's when driving on the highway. I think that the manual turbo give's awesome economy for the size and power output. The XR8 (auto) is a shocker! I can barely get more than 450 kay's off a tank driving nicely, and it give's up to 18 lt / 100 kays if poking it, and only 15's for driving miss daisy... Tock. So this OBD interface to the ford ecu will it allow you to make adjustments to the standard ecu and if so what program are you using. Biggy

Enjoy the new ride . Will be joining you all soon can't wait -
Hi all, since people are having some fairly high fuel consumption readings was wondering if the factory ecu can have the AFR adjusted or do you need to go after market . Thanks for your replies.

guys lets think , as a motor bike rider I have my lites on all the time , it helps to be seen and as you all seem to point out you see these people with there fog lites on . If they are truely fog lites then they will not glare into the oncoming traffic's eyes as they are focused just ahead of the car so that in fog you don't get the glare back in your own eyes. The aim of the game is to be seen and not hit. Sorry but when I fell the need to have them on I will put them on, especialy on country roads. My 2 cents worth

hi guys wollies and afeway fuel is brought in from indonesia if u want to save 4cents a liter on shell shop at coles as that is who is together.

Hi Guys , have had a wrx for the last 4 years and have never worried about a timer as has been said drive a little slower for a klm or so or let it idle before switching off. the only time you really need to worry is if you have been pushing it and then it is a definately good idea to cool her down. Also why not use synthetic oil as it wont carbon up as easily.

Yeh know it well used to take the bike through there but bit rough and slippery for it but the car should be good. Some good roads round the back of Kiama should try Saddleback mountain road good climb up and down with a nice picnic area at top.

Hi Guys was out on sunday for lunch down in Kiama on sunday and when on my way out from the fishing harbour spoted 3 xr's one blue one phantom and one black two were turbos not sure bout the other . they were all parked side by side, looked good , can't wait to get my in july and give a good run through the twisties down that way.

Have my wrx for 4 years and 135000 klms and been using synthetic engine oil and never worried about cooling it down after normal driving and still putting out the same boost as the day I got her. For that fact have run synthetic oil in the diff and gearbox certainly made an improvement to the box. May consider it for the T.

Thanks for the input will live with the chips and enjoy the car the way it should be. Also found an interesting site in UK where they put a film similar to window tint only clear on the front part of the car bonnet bumper area sposed to be pretty good. well cant wait to get the car should have some fun with just rear wheel drive only.

Thanks JB that's the prob with the rex the paint chipped easily and now the front looks crap, lucky I have a buyer lined up. Am looking forward to the T just hope there are not to many probs with it.

Hi first time posting anyway will be picking up T in late July and wondered how people feel about car bras and whether or not they are useful. The rex I have has certainly suffered from stone chips and insects over the past 4 years. Do the xr's tend to suffer the stone chips bad or not?
