If it feels like you are losing power , you may have a fuel leak at the hoses connected to the pump or the housing. you would not get a power increase as the fuel reg still lets go at the same point, all that the new pump is doing is holding the pressure to the fuel reg and not dropping off like the std one does.

You can try using a heat gun or hot water on the fuel line to soften it up a little. to pull the pump apart takes some force and you need to clearence the lock tabs.
