I'm building a special in my garage. It's going to be necessary to winch the car out on to the driveway which is on a slope in order to strip paint and do messy stuff etc.. The winch motor I have is a permanent magnate 0.8kw/ 1.1hp 12V. The car is a shell on wheels and so I guess weighs about 1100 kgs lets say....maybe a bit less. The performance data on the winch says at that weight, the motor current amps are 129 with the line speed 2.75 mtrs per minute. The car will need to winched about 6 mtrs to get it outside the garage which would mean the winch would be running continuously for a bit over 2 minutes...... I'd like advice on what size/rated deep cycle battery and what brand of trickle charger to hook this winch up to please? Hope this is enough info.....any help appreciated

Can someone please confirm whether the last BF MKII XR6 sedan rear bumpers came out without the groove that all the other models had ? In other words... a rear bumper that's all smooth....doesn't have that groove in it. I know the Fairmonts and XT's came out with a smooth bar but you cant remove the extension on the bottom as it's part of the moulding. So my question is... Did the last BF MKII XR6's or SR's have this smooth rear bumper with a removable lower extension?

Yeah Worm....you're correct.....sorry about that :hiwelcome: The rest of what I've said is correct though. The table only refers to 8" wheels of any diameter. Instead of giving a table of every possible offset for every width.....head to the link below with your measurement to get your offst. Wheel-Tire size comparer - RIMSnTIRES.com or this one Wheel Offset Calculator cheers

Hey everyone, I've been trawling around in here trying to work out the best offset wheel/tyre package setup for my BA MK11. Obviously, we are not all after the same thing....some people are going for looks only and others for handling etc. Regardless of what we want, the only way we can help each other is if ALL of the following info is included in your post. Below I will list what we need to know and why we need it and how to work out what you've got if you don't know What model car you've got Pretty obvious I guess but it's amazing how many posts are around with wheels and tyres but not what model they're on.... Wheel size 17 x 8 or 18 x 9.5 or whatever they are etc Suspension Height We need to know this because if someone has for example, 20 x 10's +38 on the rear of a BA with standard height suspension, that doesn't mean they'll necessarily work with a car with Kings SSL's. If you don't know what suspension is in your car....read on. Measure from the centre of your wheel to the wheel arch lip. If it's roughly 350mm both ends it's got eg: Kings/Lovells lowered in the front and SSL's in the back. 380mm roughly, means you got factory XR6 height 400mm roughly, means you XT/SR taxi height. Offset/backspace This is really important. Regardless of the wheel diameter 17,18,19,20....the offset result is the same. Some wheels have the offset stamped on them somewhere...it'll usually start with ET and then the number eg: 35. If you can't find it and you don't know what your offset is...here's how to work it out. Take a wheel off and lie it face down. Place a straight edge across the wheel lips (one side of the wheel to the other)Then measure the distance from the hub face of the wheel to the straight edge. The measurement you've just taken is bound to match one of the +offsets tabled below. B/space Offset 139mm +25 142mm +28 144mm +30 149mm +35 151mm +36.5 This is factory BA/F offset (I think it's also FG) 156mm +42 159mm +45 161mm +47 You also need to tell us whether you rolled your guards or not and whether you get any rubbing etc..... So....in summary Model of car Wheel diameter and width Suspension height Offset Rolled guards or not Hope this will help us all find out exactly what we wanna know

Quote: interested in the resonator idea DOHC6T, have you done this on yours? does it still groan like a truck or is this absorbed? Yeah mate I've done it....2 x 2.25 stainless mercury hotdogs.....and no groan....you'll only get groan leaving the centre muffler and removing the rear. I also changed the oval tip to twin straight cut 2.5 dual wall stainless ones.
-
High flow cat is the go. Save your money on the rear muffler and leave it. If your worried about the volume fit some 2.25" resonaters (hotdogs) in place of the centre muffler. Sounds great
-
I just removed the centre muffler and replaced it with 2 X 2.25 stainless resonators (hotdogs). Also replaced the standard oval tip with two straight cut dual layer stainless tips (2.5 inside dia 3" outside). Sounds fuggin great....nice and refined around town......and now it sounds like a proper sports sedan when you're up it!!

thanks for the welcome rednuts :-))......I don't think the current owner will be into a 1000 k round trip for a pre purchase inspection on my behalf though....
-
Thanks for your responses guys. I probably should'nt have headed the thread "tuner". What I'm looking for is someone reputable to do a pre purchase type inspection for me....a place that knows cars with turbocharged engines. I'm 750 km's from this car (northern NSW)...don't wanna waste my time heading up there if its a s/box . I've come across a place called Mopower in Gladstone. They look pretty into it all..... Anyone know anything about them? All help appreciated. cheers
-
I'd probably give her a dirty tune if I thought she deserved it..... :-)
-
yeah cheers Buf-phoon.....it's about a 5 hr drive though from Gladstone to Mackay....

It's a stock one owner "family car" blah blah......advertised on carsales. Waiting for the owner to fax me the log history. If it reads ok I'll wanna get it checked out. Anyone know of anyone up there? Maybe someone here has already checked this car out.....save me the trouble.... Great site by way....excellent Cheers, Matt
