Air temp would have easily been single digits, track temp would be lower again I'd think. I figured that with no heat in the tires and a cold surface they wouldn't work to their potential?

Torque Time this morning was perfect. Ice cold and clear skies. I tried out the radials, so much better than my everyday tires but they still wouldn't hook up top in 3rd. I suspect because I couldn't get enough heat into them as I'd get booted for stopping and lighting the tires up. All in all was a great morning. I met another bloke with a green fg plates "Im Syco", he runs a PTE6235 with zf and it was f*cking quick. Also done a shed job respraying my bonnet as the undercoat from when I bought it 3 yrs ago was coming off and rusting haha :/ Driving down this morning I had intake temps of 9C and on e85 gave me instaboost.

If I were to do it all again, I'd just do valve springs, oil pump gears, head studs, rods and freshen up the head. (assuming bottom end is mickey mouse)

I'll have it at QR testing these tires on sunday if anyone goes to the Torque time events? I'm interested to see man km's I get out of them No skid videos, too expensive to replace lol

Tell that to my federal evo's on the back lol. I reckon if 2nd, 3rd and 4th would hook up I'd suffer a redout from the pull hahaha

The family got me a set of MT ET Radials for my birthday used once, still have nipples on the tread. They're on a pair of advanti 17x9 inch rims, not sure on offset but will put them on tomorrow. Providing weather is good I'll give them a try on the wknd at QR for torque time. Hopefully these will stop me from getting munched by the autos!

Button rear and organic front plate I think mate.

You're in capable hands down at CMS. I used to visit the ford wreckers down at Narellan every other wknd, I found they were priced well and always had good stuff. Are you using a stock fg clutch with the kit?I'd recommend getting CMS to install a good clutch while you're putting it together for the first time, I've found out the hard way a lot by not doing it right the first time. Mate, hill starts in the rain is ridiculous. Especially if it hasn't rained for a while and the roads are extra slippery. As soon as the clutch is let out (the old one was stiff as and just bit, couldn't slip it) I'd be crabbing up the road doing 1000rpm. Everyone behind me must have thought I was an absolute wanker

Thank you, it's been a long journey! If you can get the entire fg driveline there won't be any issues. We found that the gearbox/engine spacer was slightly different between models (starter cut out). I'm not sure on the specifics but it was trimmed to get it to fit (I ended up using a fg starter as well as mine was on it's way out). You will need to use the bseries gearbox mount/cross member. I'm fairly sure that was about it. I'm using the fg slave cylinder and gear stick until I can figure out how to re-attach my t56 stick and surround. I took the ute to a dyno day the other week and as old mate was about to start the run he called out to me to ask where the button was to turn off traction control. I told him it was a 13yr old ba ute and they never came out with traction control haha.

There's a lot of things I've learned along the way which I don't write so if you've got any questions hit me up and I might have an idea

For any technical whizz's out there. Cruise control doesn't work in 6th. . . before the swap it worked in 1,2,3,4,6. Not 5. When I had the car tuned by CMS it only worked in 1,2,3,4,6. When I had the car tuned by FPT I had cruise control in all gears. RDP tuned it last year and just 5th didn't work. Replaced gearbox and now 5th does but 6th does't, tune is untouched. . . Any ideas how cruise control works?
-
It just doesn't go with the interior "styling" lol Good throw with it but a bit silly. I'll do a few hundred km's before I go doing any clutch dumps, I remember malwood saying years ago that 2000km bed in was what he recommended for his. . .

Well the tr6060 is in with the NPC clutch and I couldn't be more impressed! The lightness of the pedal is like the one in my mums lancer haha! There's almost no rollover noise and the clutch doesn't make a sound whilst in neutral at the lights. Very very happy with the combo and the guys at Forced Performance for installing it all! As a bonus, within 30mins of the t56 being in the tray of the ute at home it's been picked up by someone All I need to do now is sort out the gear stick as it's the one from the FG and it's about 3" too high haha
-
Pics in the morning, I picked it all up this arvo. Super keen to get it all in and running. Jamie at FPT was saying it's one of the best clutches he's installed/used.
-
So I've got myself a new 1000hp twin plate NPC clutch to go in next week along with a tr6060! I got the two at a good price and couldn't say no. With that being said, next week I'll have a t56 with short shifter, malwood clutch kit and tailshaft to get rid of if anyone is interested, send me a pm.

She does well, thank you haha. Ahhh I think it will be, they had a turbo V8 cruiser there that made 315rwkw with I think a 50hp shot of Nos. It ran a 14s 1/4 down at Willowbank about 2 weeks ago.
-
A local diesel shop was having a dyno day today with the entry going towards a cancer charity. I had no intentions to enter the ute seeing as it was 99% v8 cruisers and patrols but the owner Pete said to throw it on for something different. Running the 98 tune it ran up 420rwkw on 18psi, never knew the figures for the 98 tune so pretty happy to have a look. For the ears

You're talking about the 2 in the front of the cover? I had similar codes come up and one of the sensors has split, knocked it back together and problem fixed.

On my e85 tune the limiter is 6750rpm. I thought 7k on a built engine was the norm but because these engines have a long stroke higher isn't advisable (althought Jet066 ran up and over 8k and I believe kent battle did too for drags and burnouts) I make peak power at 5800rpm so I guess 7k isn't really needed either?

327 Rwkw 760Nm Xt One Tonne Ute (Was A V8)
Trent0 replied to genuine honest person's topic in 300+ Club
My brothers fg made 450kw on e85 with SINGLE in tank 460, Jamie tuned it. No problems. When I built my engine etc I wanted to go from single pump in surge to twin, jamie took it out and sent it to Kev who fitted it free of charge, I just paid for the pump and postage. A good idea would be stay off the facebook mechanic pages for a while. It's all horses for courses on there, hardly anyone speaks from experience, it's all happened to a mate of a mate pf theirs. . . -

you're doing it wrong. You need torx bits to go on the end of an impact driver. -
haha ahhhhh, I did not. I'll pull it back out and put another 2mm in, I can have the car lifted and box out within an hour now.
-
I will be looking into that, looks awesome mate! So thinking the 2mm spacer wasn't enough. I can engage reverse better, but once in gear, clutch completely in, the car still creeps backwards. Throw another 2mm spacer in it?
-
Back together now, just bleeding clutch. I really want to piss that hard line off and run braided hose from the res to the pedal and pedal to the slave, has anyone done it before? The spacer the old man made last night, 2mm sheet aluminium. 112mm diameter with a 38mm inside cut out to fit shaft and clear the chamfer.
