  1. this is a sad sad world, full of people who buy ipads, drive a prius and kill everybodys fun by revealing who the stig is. I hope the BBC and the Top Gear producers rip his ass apart! Is there no such thing as a little fun anymore, I used to love it when people tried to reveal who the stig was and couldn't, a mystery is sometimes a good thing! I wonder what colour the stig will wear next, black, then white and now...
  2. if you need any help with hardware let me know, I'm an embedded hardware engineer for an electronics disti so any sort of LCD, motherboard, SSD etc I can get cheap! I can do Core 2 Duo motherboards in 3.5" form factor with bluetooth and WIFI/3G on board, and can get all the GPS stuff cheap as we represent Navman Plus I am a certified Windows Embedded Developer so if you want to drop nlite with XP PRO I can make you an XP Embedded image that will boot in around 10 seconds or under. any technology of touch your after, resistive, capacitive, projected capacitive or SAW just let me know. A piece of advise, to cut cost use an industrial motherboard from someone like IEI and connect the NEC LCD directly VIA LVDS to the motherboard, cuts out the A/D board, and also use LED backlit LCD as it cuts out the need for an inverter and cabling is 10 times easier. and watch what your doing with transflective/sunlight readable etc, as the users are not in front of the LCD transflective wont work so well, you will need IPS technology from Hitachi or something like that. I have used Hitachi a fair bit and the viewing angles are great, plus they have the contract for LCD in the Tesla cars which is an LCD in portrait mode in the console Plus we have micros as well, NEC, Micrel etc just let me know, more than willing to help
  3. problems with the HIM or the vent control sliders, the passenger side on my dual climate did the exact same thing, no matter what I set it to it just blew whatever the outside temp was. Took it in for repair and Ford said it was the vent slider that controls how much hot or cold air goes where. Nice of Ford to have absolute faith in their product and tell me (its a crap design and will keep on breaking) Not to mention they have to pull apart your dash to get to it and then your dash constantly rattles and squeaks afterwards
  4. just rang my local ford to see if I can get some info, low and behold they new nothing (as usual) I swear Ford think they are some mystical creature that no one is allowed to speak about or even know about. They are harder to understand than a bloody woman (no offense to the ladies) you would think that giving them $50K for a car meant you were allowed to know something about the vehicle, my money wasn't a donation! all well keep trying
  5. yer I think the XR5 focus has that as well, but I think you can stop the car with the button while its running! so you wouldn't want to accidentally knock the switch. a simple write up for those who wanted it The switch will come with a wiring loom that has 1 connector at one end and 2 connectors at the other end, you need to run the cable so that the single connector will sit where your putting the switch and the other end you need to feed up your steering column. On the under side of your steering column housing there are 3 screws, undo these and drop the bottom plastic out. Then behind your ignition barrel you will see a white connector plugged into a black connector, undo this connection and put the 2 connectors in line with these and your all done! Put the key in, turn it to on and then the button will light up showing its ready to be used, push the button and the car will start. Your car wont start by turning the key anymore
  6. Actually missus had a go in my car as well, she did 2 runs, a 14.5 and then a 14.123... not bad considering her first time ever on a drag strip
  7. come on Adam a full second slower! I'm very happy with my time, but will be even happier once my tax money comes and I finally book it into Nizpro, 11 sec club then the 10 sec club here I come... one day
  8. hey fellas I was the white FG with stock wheels and tyres on the back, ran a 12.89 I couldnt believe it!!! 12.89 from a stock FG manual with steel wheels and stock second hand tyres, all I've had done was the XR8 air box and K&N
  9. I did it because its cool and looks cool. it is a pointless feature but so are my 20" inch wheels when my stock 19"s went round and round perfectly. plus the new XR5 has push button ignition and I want it to I'm a hardware engineer so my next port of call will be to remove the need for the key all together. I'll install an RFID chip into my flippy key thing so it will allow me to start the car once the keys are in the car, exactly how AUDI does it. that way when I hop in the car I can leave the keys in my pocket and the push button will light letting me know the car is now ready to be started, it will take me a while but should be good fun along the way
  10. I'll be there mate, white FG, hoping for a simple 13.00, a 12.8 or 12.9 would be nice but I doubt it at this point.
  11. I have an FG and replaced the plastic pipe (with silencer) that goes from the turbo to the cross over. got it from Rapid Systems with silicon joiners
  12. I completely agree with the survey! the FG XR6T I have now is a great looking car but by far the most problematic car I've ever owned, Ford know about the problems and seem to think its ok to sell a car that has major faults. For example my tail shaft went at 14000KM a month and a half off the road, today I am without my car again because the dual zone climate control is stuffed! The car is not even a year old yet I had a ute that ran a 9sec 1/4 mile and that stuffed up less than my FG. Not the dealers fault, Ford motor Company just have the usual we are big so we can produce crap cars and the public will like it because we are Ford. I can tell you now that I will never ever buy another Australian built Ford again, I am a true blue Aussie and have always supported local manufacturing but I hate that Australia has to put its name to these POS cars
  13. sorry fellas I ran out of time to do a write up today, I'll def do one tomorrow, try and get some pics of the wiring etc as well. Sorry XF Falcon no idea about the BA/BF's mate but the place I got my switch from do the BA/BF FPV switches as well. Now I know where all the ignition wiring is I'll be installing a kill switch mounted under the dash, I do a lot of interstate and international travel so when my car is sitting at long term parking for a while I can flick the kill switch... but you can do this part with any latching switch. if the push button start does stuff up its 2 mins to reconnect the old wiring back into the ignition barrel and be back to using the key start again
  14. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=69704 does this help? otherwise you need to buy the silver FPV plastic facia that the button plugs into and the facia just clips in
  15. genuine button and wiring loom can be purchased on ebay, wiring for the switch just goes in line with the usual ignition wiring. if you pull apart the plastic housing on your steering column you will see the connector on the back of the ignition, simply plug the wiring loom that comes with the switch in there and run the cabling to the center console. drill out a 30mm hole for the switch, plug the switch into the wiring and your done
  16. Last night I fitted an FPV Start button to my FG XR6T, I decided to not mount it with the traditional plastic mount as I use the compartment the plastic covers to hold my mobile phones and smokes. I think it came out looking quite nice, let me know if anyone is interested in a writeup

  19. its a bit quiet in here... no more pics or vids to put up by anyone?
  20. Listing in the PM looks good
  21. im still in for the original arvo session, if the missus is allowed to have a go then she can go either morning or arvo session. I would prefer her to do arvo session after me if possible, just in case she wrecks the car before I get a go
  22. my gf wants a go in my car, so she can take another driver spot if that's OK with everyone? if possible it would be good to get us both in the same session. So if its ok Gary I'll give you $100 deposit on Thursday for the 2 of us
  23. tassie sounds great, would be an awesome cruise!!! wilsons prom sounds like a winner too!
  24. ok ok getting bogged is the winner!!! I didnt see it because we were at the front, but when Paul came down and said someone was bogged, he had to tell me like 10 times before I would believe him it happens to the best of us! but its still funny as hell when it happens to someone else
