Gday guys, Had a bit of a run in with a sign post. Front bumper needs replacing. Took it in for a quote today and was told the front bumpers are around $1200. Kinda expected gold to spill out when I crashed. Anyone know the rough cost? Seems a little high. My brothers Monaro front bumper was $400, from the same place. Could just be cos its a Expensive Daewoo haha. Cheers for any help guys

I reckon your on the money mate. Happened a couple weeks after tune. Also explains why it doesn't happen in real low rpm cos it's not under boost. Cheers for the help lads.

Dont think its pinging. Not quite the same sound, engine temperature is normal, isnt high engine temperature a symptom of pinging? Might post a video when I get the car back, just in to get a paint touch up. If all else fails its to the mechanic. Cheers again guys

Could be the injectors... Forgot to mention one thing which is quite weird. If I say, put my foot flat in 5th gear doing 50 and the car very slowly accelerates it doesnt hapeen. Exhaust manifold is all good. cheers

Gday guys, Got a light ticking coming from the turbz. Its an Ba MKII XR6T ute. Only happens when I accelerate. Not at idle or just rolling. Any ideas on what it could be? Dont think its loose turbo bolts as I just had them tightened. Cheers EDIT: Comes from the engine bay btw

Cheers for the back up Paulie. I can definitely understand where Martys coming from though. It is fact that at a younger age your risk assessment is far less developed than that of an adult. But im not going to buy a less powerful car because theres more chance of crashing it. Ive only had my car a couple weeks but its sensational to drive and I thoroughly enjoy having it. I appreciate your concern mate but those laws dont apply in SA. And I think your being a tad narrow minded. I recently lost 2 mates in car accidents and plenty who have had near misses, one crashed his mums captiva. Another mate wrote off his sisters car being silly. It was an old Festiva. The car doesnt depict the driver. You can kill yourself at 40kmhs, In a Lamborghini as well as a Smart car. Its how a person drives that counts. I personally consider myself a safe driver. I may not have as much experience as older drivers but the only way im going to become experienced is time. And if its in a XR6T so be it, ive seen what car accidents can do and the last thing I want is putting myself and my friends in that situation again. Cheers

I bought an XR6T ute a couple months ago when I was 18. Decided to go with "Just Car" Paid 20k for it. They insured me no worries. Im covered for 24.5k. My Excess is 3 grand however. Premium was $1800. Brother insured his twin turbo v8 monaro and hes 21. Only cost him $1600 in premiums a year. Was quoted up to $4000 by some places. All going soundly so far. Be interesting to see what happens when I make a claim, they could be bastards when it comes to claiming, who knows. They also have the option of paying monthly, works out to 2.2k a year. When I bought the ute I didnt have that sorta cash spare. So I did 2 months insurance for $183 a month till I could afford to pay the full $1800 for a years insurance. I can highly reccommend Just Car. Good Luck

Mate that bonnets unreal. I needed SOMETHING but I dont agree with putting FPV/XR8 parts on Fords/XR6's. Just not my thing. That is a nice variation for sure. Ill hit you up in a couple weeks for it I reckon. They come painted? Man I wish you hadnt posted that. Im gonna get carried away with the full body kit I reckon =p. Hows that all go with a ute? Haha, just after I posted I found it! Fibre Sports I noticed they only come in fibreglass. I was under the impression fibreglass is illegal for bonnets? Can anyone confirm?

Driving through Munno Para today (SA) and out the corner of my eye caught what looked like a Silver BA Fairmont with a 4 vent bonnet which looked pretty damn schmick. Been after something similar but cant find one anywhere! Anybody on these forums own that thing or know the one im talking about. Heres a picture that looks like a 3 year old drew from the top... Gday guys, Clutch has officially burnout in my 2005 BA XR6 Turbo Ute. Not a fun thing to happen on South Road in peak hour. Thought itd have enough to take me home.. Clearly not. How much am I looking at to get it replaced with a standard Ford one. Would it be worth upgrading while im there as im planning on upping my cars power to around 320rwkw soon...ish. (no doubt your answer is yes). Can anyone reccomend a good place around adelaide. Only issue is getting it there. So im in quite a predicament. Simply get it replaced locally then when I upgrade my power redo the clutch properly or get it on a truck and do it properly straight away? If I dont get a performance clutch and up the power to 320rwkw will the clutch simply wear quicker or completely affect performance ie poor grabbing. Hope that all makes sense. Cheers, Jesh

Thanks for the ridiculously quick replies lads! As for cash. No issue, ill spend what I need to get it done properly. Sounds like these cars get 300rwkw quite easily. Heard quite alot about BA's and getting the valve springs done. Worthwhile investment? Oh and about the clutch... Is anyone else clutch heavy as hell. Ill have leg muscles the size of trucks at this rate. Is this normal for an XR6T or is it likely the previous owner has upgraded/replaced them (Would ask but he just left overseas for the army). Gday Guys, New to the XR6T world of things. Got myself a Manual BA MKII Magnet Ute (Blood Orange) about 2 weeks ago, stock as a rock. Quite the step up from a 4 cylinder 2.5l Magna Wagon that's for sure =p. Thought itd give my brothers 260kw Monaro a hiding. However... it was not to be! Still gets me off the line and long after every time, tried every sort of launch possible but cant seem to get ahead. How do other people go against VY-VZ V8's? Looking at a few modest modifications to get myself started. What sort of power gains can I expect from full exhaust (dump pipe right through to tips), custom tune and cold air intake? Also, what more do I need to do to get that notorious 300rwkw? What exhaust set up do people recommend? Note im looking for is refined, quality note. Not loud deafning dodgeyness. Looked through the forums but cant seem to find much on power gains for everything im after. Thought itd be easier to post! Thanks for any help in advance. Jesh EDIT: Also looking at CAPA Stage 5 Kit. Seems to be the logical decision to go through CAPA as I live in SA. Anyone gone through CAPA with their XR6 Turbo?
