Why wouldn't you be able to rev it in neutral? I mean, its like having it in neutral in a manual, or having the clutch pushed in.
-
hehe I'm just trying something different. I followed it all the way. Although I must say, it was fairly bland when it came to specific details. I guess once I pulled the crossover off, saw everything, I started putting the pieces together. But it is fairly quite, and it only gives off a short sneeze. I actually don't mind it, as I can control when it comes on or off (as my car being auto). I just thought it would have been a lot louder?

Sure will mate. Just been busy with work. But I'm going to put my car up on my ramps and check all the connections from the headers -> turbo -> dump pipe -> cat. Hopefully all it is, is just a loose screw somewhere. I bought a torque wrench a while ago specifically for things like this
-
So I did this on my BF XR6 turbo auto. All I get is a soft 'Pppsshhh. None of this 'Ppssshhtuttututtu' sound. Did I do it right? 1. I just blocked off the short wide hose at the back of the crossover with a 25mm stopper. That's the only hose I blocked off. 2. The long wide hose that comes from the front of the crossover, and then underneath to reconnect with the BOV, I did just that, reconnect with the BOV. 3. I put a small breather/pod filter on the large opening of the BOV that was usually connected to the short and wide hose, so basically I moved the BOV back to front. 4. I reconnected the short and thin hose to the little nipple on the BOV and connected that back to the original gold looking pipe where it was from stock (This is the vacuum hose right?). So, did I do the right thing? It just doesn't sound that loud? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot for all the info guys, really appreciated! Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm good with the valve springs, but I'm also not looking at doing any crazy power mods anyway. My final product that I'd be absolutely happy with would be BluePower CAI, replace straight through exhaust pipes with hot dogs (centre muffler already gone), and a custom tune. I'm really only looking at wanted 250 - 260rwkw... You guys think that is feasible?

Hey guys, just a little background first. My car is an 06 BF XR6 turbo, 6sp auto, around 60,000kms on the clock, and always used BP Ultimate since I bought it with 50,000kms on it. Only mods are blue power cold air intake, and centre muffler removed. Now to my question, I've had my centre muffler removed for a while now, but I only recently decided to give it some revvs in neutral on my drive way. I gave it some good throttle, maybe up to 3500rpm, but on the engine dropping revvs back down, it let out some HUGE and very loud popping noises, which scared me hehe. I'm used to the 'burbling' effect it gives when de-accelerating in gear while driving, and I expected a similar noise when stationary, but not this loud popping noise! I've watched some youtube videos of people free revving their cars and none of them seem to pop like mine, they all just 'burble' down. Is there something I should check out in my exhaust system? Loose bolts somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

hehe you guys are a funny bunch! Thanks for the input guys!!!

Mate, like I said before, you must be confusing the BF to the FG, and I was right. The FG has 270kw, my BF only has 245kw. I am sure the FG would poo all over it, that's WHY I am curious to know if the BF could also POO over it?

The claimed time for Mazda 3 MPS is 6.1 0-100km/h. Not 6.7, and I'm fairly sure my BF XR6 Turbo doesn't do the 1/4 mile that quick, in 13.2. You must be thinking of the FG. Because of the lack of stock quoted times by BF 6sp Auto's, and also the lack of stock 3 MPS's down the quarter, I am really curious to who would win.
-
Not tuned.... yet! hehe

Mazda 3 MPS is stock as a rock. XR6 Turbo only has Bluepower cold air intake and the centre muffler removed.

Gey guys, just wanted your thoughts on this! How would a BF XR6 Turbo with 6sp auto go in a straight line against a Mazda 3 MPS manual? I know I should just race and see what happens, but as I live about 3 hours away from any racing facilities, I can't really do this any time soon... So I'm just curious as to which car would come out on top, in a straight line?

Hey guys, I have 3 questions, which are all stupid/silly, but here I go anyway. I am a young fella, so don't give me too hard a time, pretty please! 1. The rego for my car runs out in 1 week, but I don't get paid until 2 weeks. If I don't drive my car for that 1 week the car isn't registered, is this ok? Or must I have this car constantly registered? (I'm fine without car, as I already use public transport to and from work everyday). 2. I lost my rego papers, do I just go to a 'shop front' and tell them this, and they will supply me with all the paper work to re-register my car? And last, 3. On my rego sticker that I currently have on my car, it says my full name, does this mean that the car is in my name? Because I didn't transfer it into my name after buying it. Is that something the dealers do, or do I have to actually transfer it into my name? Reason why, is because I would imagine I first have to transfer it into my name to be able to re-register it. Or if its still not under my name, can I still get registration? Cheers guys, and like I said, I know these are some silly questions, but any help would be appreciated. EDIT: I live in the ACT if it makes any difference.

Mate, your missus made the right choice. Everything you said is 100% correct. How could one go past a BF Typhoon?

I have a 2006 XR6 Turbo, ZF 6 Speed. Blue power cold air intake and centre muffler removed for the nice sound. That's all I've done. I came up against what looked like a 2006/2007 Lancer EVO, with a huge front mount showing all its glory. We where both doing 80km/h, side by side. He even looked at me and gave me some weird look. And as soon as I heard the evo downchange and start screaming its guts off, I put it into second gear (ZF AUTO, I was using the manual mode). He was ahead, obviously because he launched first and earlier, but I was reeling him in, and by 100km/h it was nose to nose. By 120km/h his nose was where my towbar is. At 140km/h he was even further back. I could just see the gap growing bigger and bigger. These XR6 Turbo's are really mean machines. In the near future, once people realise these cars, everybody will be like "oh sh*t, its an XR6T Falcon, don't wanna race him"! But at the moment, its like everybody wants to have a go, even though they get slaughtered every time, I always seem to have some hot P plater, or some middle aged guy driving a skyline wanting a run, just to get left behind. I've had V8 BMW's, Mazda 3 mps and Mazda 6 mps, HSV 255's, 297's and once a 317 try me off the line. But still get beaten by a near stock family car XR6 Turbo. GO THE TURBO!!!

You most likely wouldn't know it. Its this one: Tuggeranong Muffler Centre In Canberra.

Hey I just got mine done on an 06 BF 6sp Auto. Sounds great, much better than I expected! But one thing, the shop I went to get it done at, the guy that was doing the work for me seemed pretty rude to me about the whole thing, even making a point to me that its the cheapest thing I could have done to my car, like its some big bad thing I did. Basically treated me like crap, so I'm never going back there again! Anybody else had similar experiences?

Put some WD40 into your turbo actuator. Easy 10 min job. Had same problem as you. Usually I would only need to put my foot in 1/3 the way down to get a really good boost full of acceleration, but slowly that changed to having to put my foot down almost 80% of the way to get that same boosted acceleration. But simple, I lubed up my actuator, let it sit for a few minutes, and drove it half our later to realise that was the problem!!! Back to new again!

That would be good, but I do only have ramps to drive the front of the car up on. So its on a huge angle. And 'Buf-Phoon' I'm in Canberra.

Nice work mate! Maloo got a 14.1? Maybe could have done a few mili seconds better, I think the driver was just shocked having a Territory in front. Wow, I would be stoked! Is that an every day driver, the Territory? Imagine the launching capabilities with the AWD, mate, you have a killer beast!

Cheers mate, will do! But need I take it to Ford (which I wont), or can any transmission service centre do it for me? Sorry for the very noobish questions. I just want the best for my car, I love it!

Which Turbo Falcon Will Be The Most Collectable
a topic replied to XrSexc in Drag and Circuit Racing
Good call, actually, when I open up my fuel cap to refill, it says its compatible with E10! That's crazy, because I only run my Turbo on 98. Would hate to see it on E10!!!
