  2. hey guys, im thinking about buying an 04 xr6t. Its already got an aftermarket cooler, cat back exhaust and a heavy duty clutch. Besides a tune, do you think I need to do the valve springs? are there any other mods you'd recommend before getting a tune? thanks
  3. My car was in extended warranty and I blew the engine from boosting it. I put the tune back to stock and took it to ford. They had no problems in fixing it. They ended up giving me a new engine. Sometimes it depends on who you talk to and which dealer you take it to.
  4. Alright guys so I've found out what the problem is. Ford have said that it was a bent rod, and also the bearing for the 5th cylinder as well as the con rod bearings. They have replaced all of the conrods with stronger ones and the bearings for the 5th and 6th cylinders. They have also replaced the ignition coils as a precaution. lucky for me the whole lot was covered under warranty so I got really lucky. thanks for all your help, you guys rock!
  5. Ok so I have spoken to ford, and they have told me that I need a new bottom end. They just told me to submit the papers with the warranty company because I havnt transferred the warranty over from the previous owner, and they will take care of it. Apparently I need a new bottom end, something to do with 5 and 6 gears and ive apparently spun a bearing around. They said once ive completed the paper work, they will get someone to come down and assess it and get a quote to give back to the warranty company and all should be well. I will let you guys know in more detail what the problem is when I go to pick up my car.
  6. The only reason I'm taking it to ford is because it is still under warranty. They guy I bought it from had a 5 year extended warranty so I'm hoping it will cover it.
  7. Yes it only happens when the car is warm. Once I get it checked out I will let you know what it is.
  8. It isnt dynowog. I bought it from a guy named Bruce Heinrich of Heinrich Performance in Adelaide.
  9. its not that loud from in the cabin. You can slightly hear it in the drivers seat, when doors are closed and bonnet is down. If you're sitting in the drivers seat with the door open you can hear it louder coming from underneath. when the bonnet is up, if you put your head towards the back of the engine on the turbo side you can hear it louder, or if you squat down to the front wheels, you can hear it the loudest. I took it to Bluepower Racing today and they suggested to just leave it with ford. They also said that ford will not be able to tell if it has been boosted, so my warranty may not be void. They said that ford can only tell on the FPV vehicles for some reason.
  10. Where can I get a compression leak test done? All I wanted from my car was a custom tune for now with minor mods.. Don't really have any money especially to throw on a new engine.

  12. Hi guys, I'm new to the forums and am having a little trouble with my car. I have an 05 xr6 turbo mk11, 6 speed manual. I recently purchased an xcal 1 from a performance tuner who immorally sold me it with 2 generic tunes for my car. I was unaware of the fact that the xcal 1's can no longer be used to custom tune, so this box is useless to me and the dealer wants nothing to do with it and will not refund me. Apparently he has an old dongle with 200 tunes left on it and will continue to sell them on ebay until it runs out. When plugging it into my car, it runs really rough at about 3000 rpm+ and feels like it isnt getting enough fuel. It feels like its leaning and makes small vibration with a weird noise. However after having the 10psi generic tune running for less than 2 hours, as I went to take off, my car gave a huge backfire and the car bunny hopped while I was driving.. seconds later I pulled over to make sure everything was ok, and there was a ticking/knocking sound coming from the engine bay. Would anybody know what this sound is? It sounds like its coming from the back of the engine, maybe even from behind the turbo. Any suggestions would be helpful. thanks guys
